Torpöns Färjeläge is a tiny forrest-ish area where you can camp out or stop by for a day out. It has a little pier where folks can dock their boats. There's a restaurant, an ice-cream bar, and a high rope course. Unfortunately I didn't try the high rope course, but it looked like it was so much fun and very child-friendly. I'm not ashamed of my addiction to ice-cream (I can eat it 24/7) and I understand other people only eat ice-cream now and then. But if you are in the area and you don't stop at this ice-cream place I will frown and give you a madly disturbed look haha. I cannot be the only one who did a little dance - well maybe I did a dance and others are just super excited - but bottom point: they have ice-cream flavors like popcorn, rhubarb, and whiskey. All. Are. Very. Good. And. Delicious. Tarpons Färjeläge is a very calm area, but I would make the trip to have some good ice-cream while enjoying the beautiful view.

The photos I provide with this review cannot do the property justice. The fact that you can walk around all the art and antiques with no one supervising your visit, is unbelievable! Our room was in the annex, so it was more modern and not filled with antiquities. The room was quite comfortable and did have a flat screen TV. It was also extremely quiet. We dined in the castle, but before we were seated we had the opportunity to meet a gentleman named Ralph. Ralph is 85 years old and was born at the property! We exchanged stories and shared drinks for a while before he showed us to the dining room, what a treat! Dinner? AMAZING! Best dinner we would experience at a lodging in our month in Scandinavia. We started with a fish tartare, toasted brioche, asparagus and greens called rocket. Next was beef, roasted perfectly, with a fantastic rich brown gravy, diced onions and veggies and a wedge of a potato rosti. Last was a sorbet, meringue and a fudge like pastry. We had the wine pairing which proved to have EXTREMELY GENEROUS pours, great selections and was the most reasonable we would see on our entire holiday! Tres magnifique! Breakfast was equally impressive. If you have the opportunity to stay at Vastana Slott, you will not be disappointed! Humbly submitted, Moi

It has a…read morevery extended golf court, several buildings to accommodate guests, a golf shop, and restaurant/venue to cater get-togethers. Ombergs Golf hosted the wedding of my friends and we had a blast. It felt like we were at a beautiful, kind of isolated place, with an amazing view. All guests stayed overnight and we were conveniently accommodated in two buildings. This made bonding with and finding other wedding guests so much easier. Ombergs Golf arranged a perfect dinner set up, and afterwards we had access to a separate bar and dancing floor. This was one of the nicest hotels I stayed at to be honest. It was actually nothing special; there was hardly any decoration, they kept it clean and simple. I guess that's why the room and bathroom looked so incredibly spacious. No carpet but wooden floors! Yay! This made it feel so clean. Double layered curtains, a very modern and contemporary designed bathroom (simple and clean), and super comfortable beds with very nice pillows and sheets, and a very convenient closet, including a great full-size mirror (I think this is a must!). It all felt brand new and clean. We didn't play golf but I'd definitely love to return here to play some!

Every cabin is handmade and beautifully designed - simple and clean and natural, with everything we needed and nothing more. There's no electricity or water in the cabins, but the bathhouse is very nearby with gorgeous showers, toilets, a sauna. Inside the cabins are kerosene lamps and candles. We loved the clean, leaf-filtered air. We loved the quietness of nature at night, and the birdsongs that woke us each morning. We visited in July. The days were warm enough to swim and kayak (which we did several times a day). The nights were cool enough for sleeping, but not cool enough for a fire. Breakfast was served in the restaurant - a big Swedish breakfast with various homemade breads, jams, cheeses, fruit, yogurts, mueslis, juices, coffee, tea. So, so good! The restaurant, also constructed from wood, gets plenty of natural light through the irregular-shaped windows. You can see the farm on one side of the building, and the lake on the other. In the middle of the room is a huge fireplace made of clay and stone. I can only imagine how cozy it is during colder months, and trust me, I plan to find out one day :) For lunch and dinner, Håkan provided organic vegetables grown himself on the land. We also had the choice of fish or lamb (raised on the farm as well). We chose the latter and did not regret our choice. There's also good beer and wine available for purchase. We cooked our own meals in the outdoor kitchen with other guests staying at urnatur. By the end of our stay, we'd made several new friends. Even though we cooked different meals, it was amazing to share the space, the same open fire, the same pans and utensils, and of course the same dinner table. I absolutely love this concept and now dream of having my own outdoor kitchen. There's so much more I could say, but I'll stop here and urge you visit urnatur for yourself. It's a restorative place created by really wonderful people. We look forward to visiting again very soon, and thankfully, it's only a 2-hour train ride from our home in Stockholm.

On the plus side, there seems always to be a room available, when other hotels are filled... this is how I ended up staying there twice. Also, it is somewhat less expensive than comparable hotels, but it is also cheaper. If one is looking for a place to sleep, and not an experience, it is certainly adequate. Part of my disappointment stems from what Ribbagården could be. Parts of the house date back to the 1400s, and it has been operating as a hotel for over 100 years. The place is steeped in culture, and potentially quite beautiful. Unfortunately, the appearance of the place creates a strong impression that the management is committed to putting as little money back into the hotel as possible. Little effort has been made to preserve the historical feel that could potentially add to the experience (in contrast to Hotell Amalias Hus, just up the road). While not dirty, the place is clearly in a state of general disrepair. The modern additions are both incongruous with the potential historical feel, and also generally quite cheap. The place looks as if they have sold off the valuable antiques and replaced them with flea market purchases. In summary, this is not a place to avoid. I would happily stay here again, if no other hotel rooms were available in Gränna. However, if one wants more of a memorable experience, as opposed to just a comfortable bed and simple but adequate breakfast, there are better places within a few hundred feet.
