I shopped around and got better coverage through another broker and a different company (Citizens) for thousands less. And yes, I compared coverage line by line. We went down to the agency to make sure the Castle Key policy was cancelled and make sure they did not bind coverage through the company that, unbeknownst to my MIL, was set to bind coverage on her home for more than $14k per year! I heard one of the agents on the phone with a customer talking about a claim with the company I got new coverage with. I told the agent (principal/broker) I didn't know they represented that company. He said "oh yea, we represent them all." I said "then why didn't you shop my in-laws through that company instead of putting them with one that was three times the price? He made up some excuses that, as a former independent insurance agent, did not track. As we were leaving, he said "well just be prepared that Citizens will soon require flood insurance for all insureds." I said, "well with the $8,000 savings, we can afford it." Zero customer service equals zero chance we will ever be back. If you have older parents or relatives that have coverage using this agency, I would ask to do a review of their policy for them. Yikes. So glad my MIL asked for my help!

This is a flood claim, in which temporary housing was involved, and everything from phone calls. Incompetent adjustors, lack of follow up and ultimately delays in payment were involved. We were specifically told by Warren yesterday 7/14/20 that payment would be overnighted today and received by Thursday 7/16/20. We followed up today to get the tracking number he told us he would have only to be told the payment was mailed out today and scheduled to be delivered Monday 7/20/20 by 8pm. Of course the contractor is calling, texting and emailing for payment for completed work (rightfully so). 4 months, numerous broken promises and more than a handful of "I'm sorries"!
