You can do it one time or get a membership plan if you intend to go more often. And there's a nice chill cafe for eating and drinking - even if you are not going to climb. (I do def recommend drinking after climbing rather than before.) The Blockfabrik is so popular - especially late-afternoons and evenings - that I can guarantee you there will always be a lot of people 'hanging out' with you .... hanging both literally and figuratively!!

The walls are very wore down, due to the amount of climber who have been practicing over the years. The Mizzi wall also gives beginner climbers the opportunity to top rope with a good set anchor. You will need a complete climbing set, climbing shoes, a 60 meter rope and a climbing helmet, due to lots of loose stones. The climbing wall drys very fast and its open year around. The Kletterhalle in Vienna's 22 district is by all means the best climbing hall in Vienna and "As…read moregood as it gets"!! The hall is enormous with two levels and hundreds of routes just waiting to be climbing. The climbing hall also has a new feature called Toppas, which is a self-belaying device. It's perfect if your climbing partner doesn't have the time or failed to show up. The bouldering area is located in two separate locations and is also rated from easy to very difficult. The difficulty of each route can be found at the bottom of each route and is easy to find. The prices are cheap if you have you own gear, but can cost you a turkey dinner if you have to borrow the gear each time. On the upper level the hall has a small catina where you can get a few drinks, cakes and some small snacks. The hall also has a small restroom area and a large changing room with showers.

I visited K-Burg for three weeks in the winter of 2007-08 to watch my ex play for the Xion Dukes, the hometeam of Klosterneuburg. Happyland is their place of residency, a building that houses the most odd array of indoor activities I've ever heard under one roof. The gym is dated, but adequate I guess, it kind of reminded me of my high school gym back at home, but it is what it is. Not even a couple steps walk from the gym is an entire indoor water park complete with heated lamps to give you the "tropical feel", water slides, and wave pools. There is a decent restaurant on the premises that fed the players after each of the games, just outside the gym was where I spent most of the breaks from the game though...at the bar where large twisted pretzels and beer were never ending. I guess this is a family destination kind of place when you live in Vienna as this town is so small you could blink and miss it, it must be a nice change of pace from the bitter cold air and constant snow in the middle of the winter. You know, catch a bball game and go for a dip in the faux tropics...totally normal.

The sun sets in after the lunch hours and the area can be very chilly during the morning hours. (Hint - dress warm) Located at the top of the climbing area is the Peilsteinhütte where you can get some really good food and drinks for restore the energy tanks!! Tip - The closet way to the climbing area is located next to the Holzschlag gasthof. Best climbing months: April, Mai, June, Juli, August, September & October Good for children / Free of charge / All climbing equipment is necessary. Helmets aren't, but should be mandatory as there is at times human and natural related rock fall at all locations!!

It is really safe so even if you are afraid of heights (like me!) after doing a few blue ones you won't be scared anymore and feel confident enough to do the reds and dark ones! And enjoy it! :) But the black ones can be very difficult, make sure you are fit enough before beginning one (you can't go back!...). I'll come again with great pleasure!
