We enjoyed it a lot 2 years/2 summers ago and returning 08.13-15.25 for another family summer camping trip. We're at Campground # 28 Campground # 27 is accommodating for disabilities. Which was right across from our campground # 28. #27 had majority all pavement in the campsite. Around the picnic table along they have their own water spout for water use. Also located closest to the restroom/showers, has a pavement road leading up to it for easy access. REMINDER there is no washing dishes sink available on these campgrounds nor can you use the restroom sinks to wash anything. There is a sign that it isn't allowed. So make sure to bring your own water! This time around downfall is the electrical plugs in both of the restrooms, weren't working the 2 nights stay we were there. I asked the associates that were driving around daily regards to the power. They told me it's a hit or miss. Sometimes the power isn't working and there's nothing that can be done to fix it. The downfall. Love the Serrano campground since it's not far from the actual Big Bear village. Still definitely recommend it. Really clean & everyone is respecting each other especially at night.

Campsite was very nice, clean & very well kept. Campsite host on site. Our campsite was a double site, #32/33, and was wonderfully beautiful. Restrooms & showers located nearby, plenty of shade spots for tent setup. Numerous hiking trails available, short walk to lake for fishing, (purchase fishing license before you arrive) bike riding, and boat rentals are also offered, but kind of expensive. Must reserve sites, 6 months ahead. We'll definitely come back, maybe annually.

Parking is available for only two spots in each lot you end up purchasing, it was super easy to park, our lot was 46, so it was a bit of a drive. It was a very friendly area, there was a fire place, a table, and even a stoned cabinet (to store food, etc). The place itself is very close to all the popular lakes and spots. The only downside was that you might not get a lot of sleep, there are many kids there who were keeping people up even at 5am... maybe it's the family itself! But definitely be aware there might be noises and loudness since it's very family friendly! Overall, i'd definitely come back, it was about $120 for two nights!

Flush toilets and free showers available (both are generally clean with adequate hot water to shower with, and you'll see the "off duty" host clean them every day, but their condition will be highly dependent on your neighbors). There are a few hiking trail options during your stay: from inside the campground, if you follow the trail by the entrance/the hosts' RVs, to the right, a quick scurry across the highway, there's a mile long hike up to Jenks Lake. If you go left, you'll go through a few other campsites, then an amphitheater, and then an overlook area with a picnic table. There are a few loops in the trees behind the campgrounds, but I'm not sure where they lead as I just turned around eventually. The east loop (1-22) feels more spread out and private although there aren't really too many decent places to hang a hammock in most spots. The west loop (23+) feels a little closer together (but also not bad) with a lot more trees for shade and to hang hammocks. The west loop also tends to have more RVs and generator users for whatever reason though. I've mostly stayed on the east loop and would suggest bringing a canopy for shade. Even though the temperature may not seem that high, the sun is HOT, and is a little unbearable around 1 PM - 3 PM. Surprisingly, bugs are mostly a non issue even in the summer. Bundles of firewood for sale if conditions allow. $10 a bundle as of 07/2025 cash only. Expect each bundle to last about an hour. The host will go around selling however many fits on their cart or you can just drive your car up to the active host and fill your trunk. Big Bear is also a 30 minute drive away.

We were pleasantly surprised! The toilets were very clean, and the free hot showers were such a nice bonus--especially after a day of hiking and relaxing outdoors. Each campsite had a picnic table and a fire pit, which made it easy to cook and enjoy meals comfortably. The campground is surrounded by tall, full-grown trees that provide plenty of shade and a relaxing atmosphere. It was quiet and serene throughout our stay--perfect for unwinding. We especially loved hearing the blue jays singing during the day. There's also a trail that leads straight to Jenks Lake if you're in the mood for a peaceful hike or some fishing. To top it all off, the camp hosts were great--very nice, helpful, and approachable. Overall, this spot exceeded our expectations. It's peaceful, well-maintained, and a perfect weekend escape. We'll definitely be back!

Been coming to San Gorgonio campgrounds for over 30 years. Growing up we couldn't afford summer…read moretrips so my dad would make an effort to get us out of the city for a weekend or two every summer. I've continued this tradition with my own kids and this campground is a mainstay in our rotation. In those 30 years not much has changed (and that's a good thing), except maybe a bit more noise from the road. That's expected though with more and more people moving into the area. Nothing beats the tranquility and peace you feel just sitting enjoying a meal together, playing cards, making s'mores, or telling stories by the fire. Facilities are always clean. Showers have warm water and the park host do an excellent job of keeping them clean. The toilets are also always clean, and flush toilets make it so any unpleasant smells do not linger. Plenty of firewood is available if you're running low or forgot to pack any. Make sure you have cash though. The camp host will come by and offer or you can swing by and pick it up. A few cons: the water spout next to our site was not working so we had a not so long trek to retrieve water. The fire pit at our site wasn't in the best of locations. I would've preferred it tucked in more, but it was located right next to the driveway, and finally the drainage system in the showers could be upgraded. It's not pleasant wadding in remains of the person that showered before you even in shower shoes.

We only had option to have vault toilets so that wasn't my favorite but it's a nice remote campground away from the crowds but 10mins from town. There's some nice trails leading out to some burn scarred forest and campfires were allowed. If you're not a fan of parking lot campgrounds and don't mind non-flushing toilets, this could be a good fit. If you want to be close to the lake for fishing, swimming, etc. and not have to get in the car to enjoy, this isn't the campground for you.

To get here, you will drive a 2 mile dirt road. The dirt road was pretty bumpy for us, we took a 4x4 Jeep. I saw a Tesla that made it through, but not sure if lower cars like Honda Civics could make it.. If the road is wet, do bring a 4x4 that's made for wet dirt roads. CAMPSITE I personally like this campground because it is a bit remote. Each spot has plenty of space, so you're not super close to you'r neighbors. Each site has a bear cage for food, table, and fire pit. Some spots are more shadier than others. In summer, it is pretty toasty here, but at night it's a whole other story so come prepared. Very family friendly area. AMENITIES There is a public restroom, it is pretty stinky (there's no sink to wash your hands so bring your hand wipes). No showers. Although there are multiple water facets do fill up your water bottle. Also there's no signal out here, maybe there's 1 bar but it is very spotty. There's a huge garbage disposal at the front entrance, ALWAYS throw your trash away there before going to bed. WILDLIFE You will see some wildlife. We saw coyotes, lots of different birds, insects, chipmunks, squirrels & owls. Do be aware of deer and especially BEARS. There's signs saying bears are frequent in the area, i did hear one late at night so make sure you follow all protocols & keep food away & keep your site cleaned. Overall, i will definitely come back again!

We had been planning a camping…read moretrip over Labor Day weekend in Los Angeles National Forest, but then we realized there would be a heat wave leading to 100 plus degree weather. Our planned trip was a no-go. Our eight year old son was very disappointed. We brainstormed Big Bear as a place to go, as it would be a relatively balmy 85 degrees. Only problem was, I couldn't find any openings at any of the Big Bear campgrounds for the busy Labor Day weekend. I looked and looked, and finally found Camp Tanda. Before Covid, it was a Christian camp that only catered to large groups and kids' camps. During these times, they adapted for small families. I was happy to find they had one opening left for the holiday weekend. Our trip was saved. Our son was excited. The campground is lovely and clean with lots of trees. It's been around for seventy years, so the cabins have a rustic, vintage feel. We tent camped in a lovely spot near the kitchen building. Everything was very clean. There are restroom facilities, potable water, and hot showers available. There is also a basketball court, volleyball net, ping pong tables, and horse shoe game. The price is very affordable. The lady running the camp was very kind, bending over backwards to make sure we had all we needed. She provided a shade tent at no extra charge, and gave us a s'mores kit our first night there! Things to be aware of: This was and still is a Christian camp. No alcohol, drugs, or weapons of any kind are allowed. Very strict no noise between 10pm and 8am rule, which suited us fine. The camp is located very close to Big Bear Lake, which meant we could hear Air BnB partiers nearby. It's not fancy. Everything is quite old, but it all works fine. We stayed in tents, but they do have cabins available. Bring warm clothes for nighttime. Not everyone wears masks, but even at full capacity, it was never crowded. Easy to social distance. No campfires allowed, but there is a legal gas campfire from 7-10 pm. If you have a family who likes to camp, this is the place for you. Call or e-mail them for a reservation!
