From the moment we arrived at his beautiful home, he made us feel completely welcome -- it felt less like walking into a photo session and more like being invited in by family. Den is incredibly laid-back and easy to talk to. During the session, he kept a natural conversation going, which made the entire experience feel relaxed and effortless. It never felt staged or uncomfortable -- it honestly didn't feel like a "photo shoot" at all. That meant so much to me because I'm usually very uncomfortable in front of the camera. Somehow, he created an atmosphere where I felt completely at ease, and that makes all the difference. If you're looking for a photographer who makes you feel comfortable, welcomed, and genuinely cared for, I can't recommend Den Sweeney enough.

From the very first email, Den was accommodating as well as professional. We had a large group (11…read moreof us) that need not only group shots but break off groups as well. Den made us all feel so comfortable which allowed us to have some fun candid shots as well as planned ones. The editing after seeing the proofs (which seemed daunting to me) came out so well that my niece will be using hers as her graduation picture. When I made the mistake (3 times in a row) of responding to the Dropbox email, I called Den and talked about it. He was understanding and once I sent the chosen pictures to be edited they were done much faster than I thought. Again I had issues with opening the retouched ones (user error was showing hard here), I sent an email to him and he again sent me the file which turned out beautiful

When I first set off upon the long quest that is wedding planning I knew that picking a…read morephotographer would be one of our most important decisions; after all, you're spending a small fortune, gathering all your favorite people together, and you better have something tangible to look back on once the details have faded from memory. Having the opportunity to laugh hysterically at so many cheesy engagement and wedding photos on Facebook during the preceding years I was determined that under no circumstances would I ever hire someone who would pose us in a wheat field and have us staring into each others eyes... or something like that... Along comes Ian, we were struck by the fun, exuberance, tenderness, and straight up real moments and feelings that we saw captured through his lens. We met over coffee at Ultimo, got to know each other a little, and hit it off really quick. He is, in a nutshell, a charming, laid back dude with great taste that works really damn hard- what more could you want? He sent a contract which we signed and returned promptly. (Also of note is that he is part of a wedding services collective worth checking out called "Rabbit Rabbit Crew" which is a curated group of small businesses for every aspect of your perfectly styled wedding) On our big day, Ian showed up right on time to the loft where my girls and I were getting ready as per a timeline/shot list that he had us send to him before the day so that everything would run smoothly. He was completely at ease moving around the space, shooting stealthily and casually chatting, but not at all being intrusive. As we moved on to the church and then the reception site he was right there capturing everything and even stopped off with us at a coffeeshop to shoot some awesome photos of us two in our natural habitat. The photos we got back were so lovely and perfectly captured the spirit of the day- I really couldn't have higher praise for his work. For the most part the pictures were documentary in style with just enough posed shots and each and every picture was thoughtful. Thanks so much Ian for being such an integral part of a very special day. I couldn't recommend this guy enough! Want proof? Check our pics out at: http://www.vivalovephoto.com/cassie-and-drew/

With his relaxed style you will get photographs that are natural, not staged or cheesy. They have a timeless eloquence to them we adore. Not only is Ian a master at his art, but he is passionate about his art. An ex. that highlights his passion follows. The morning of our wedding Ian drove around an area he was unfamiliar with to search for a first-look location for us. He could have easily done the first look in our hotel, however he took it upon himself to find a beautiful place instead since we hadn't a spot in mind when he asked. Seeing Ian go above and beyond for us set the stage for his professional services throughout the rest of the day. He has a creative eye and found cool ways to shoot that not any photographer would consider. For ex. at our reception Ian took pictures of us inside a field of flowers off the beaten path. We would have never thought of that, but leave it to Ian and he will come up with amazingly creative ideas in the moment. Ian genuinely cares about you and your guests. He took time to meet before the wedding to discuss the timeline for the day. He accommodated all requests. When you contact Ian he responds promptly. We have been to a lot of weddings and have been photographed as part of wedding parties. Ian is the best and most fun photographer we both have worked with yet. His assistant DJ did an excellent job capturing the guys bridal party and their personalities. Fun experiences with good hearted people makes for amazing photos. Ian and DJ were so kind and perceptive. Hire them - they care about what they are doing! We have received many compliments. For ex. a friend's comment regarding one of Ian's photographs of the girls bridal party was, "This looks right out of a bridal magazine. Beautiful!" We look forward to our photo album Ian will make. Will not be easy to pick faves! Love em all!

He was very friendly and cracked jokes the whole time which made it very easy, fun, and comfortable to model for him. I love his moody editing style and I'm SO happy with my gallery. His personality really shines through in his work and if I could give him more than 5 stars, I would!

Choosing a photographer for a wedding is a big decision because your photos will be long-lasting…read moremementos of the day, and also because there are a lot of variables (style, quality, personality, price, etc.). We loved the photos we saw on JPG's website and their commitment to customers was clear from our very first conversation with Joe. We worked together to come up with a price/package that met our needs and chose Matt Bender as our primary photographer. Our engagement session gave us a chance to get to know Matt and for him to know us. When the big day came, we felt very comfortable with him and he (along with 2 other photographers) did a great job managing our family and bridal party for group shots. Many guests commented that our photographers were awesome throughout the evening. This skill should not be overlooked when you are evaluating a wedding photographer! In the end, we were thrilled with the quality and variety of pictures. The photo journalistic style captured the true essence of the day and there were a lot of really fun shots. To top it off, all of JPG's wedding packages include a DVD or thumb drive of high-res images with personal use rights - which means you have full flexibility when it comes to albums and prints. Bottom line: JPG brought the style, quality, and personality we were looking for at a competitive price. They were easy to work with from start to finish and we could not have been happier with the results.

Caveat emptor...buyer beware…read more We really have no idea how these guys get the ratings they do. We are crushed by the disappointment in their service. We not only cannot recommend JPG, we would strongly caution against using them. In spite of planning together with the photographer and being clear about our intentions not to photograph the prep, we had to wait for them to set up after we were long ready. The 14 weeks from event to actual pictures were astonishing. Even more so after getting them and seeing just how little thought and effort went into their editing and "organization". Also - be prepared to be referred to your contract repeatedly. They will hold it up anytime you ask for something.
