They also added a "service fee" to each transaction with the armband which they really didn't explain up front like they should have. I would have usually purchased a LOT more beverages at a festival like this but the armbands made things so painful I just gave up and bought lemonade instead from one of the vendors that didn't require the malfunctioning armband. There were a LOT of great food vendors along with a HUGE number of fantastic musicians performing. Another big highlight of this event was the chef's demonstration tent where you got free samples along with learning how the dishes are made. Overall this is an amazing time with great music, good food and expensive drinks that are a pain to even purchase with the goofy armbands. A beautiful celebration. There's beautiful and diverse…read morepeople just having a great time. Everyone's listening to bumping music and dancing all together. The food isn't crazy expensive. Bring an umbrella just in case. It usually rains when Holi comes around. The colored powder everyone throws around doesn't USUALLY stain clothes but my clothes had a few places that never got sparky clean. The music ranges from dance party music to relaxing music. I loved it.

I am so glad we went to the 6th annual Holi festival this year, as it was an incredible experience…read more Let me start by saying it is a huge cultural gathering with authentic people, music, and food all sharing in connectedness and oneness with one another. There was all ages out here, young and old, and everyone had a smile on their face. You start the day off by purchasing tickets to purchase the Holi colors, which in essence is bags of colorful dust you bust open to throw in everyone's face that you pass by. Seriously, it's so much stinking fun to dump these bags onto complete strangers as they pass by. Another thing, the authentic Indian food was pretty good it really tied in the whole experience. But you have to buy tickets to purchase stuff here, the vendors they don't accept cash. Anyhow, they had many different performers dancing and singing and they had a Bollywood MC and DJ, it was great. One guy told me to cover my drink and I look down confused and next thing I know he smashed a handful of pink dust all in my ear, it was horrific and wonderful all at the same time. It's especially fun when they have the color throws which is where everyone gathered around and they named colors to throw and all the sky is painted with colorful dust everywhere. I felt so bad for the poor girl with the contacts she was frantic to get out her eyeballs immediately. Poor thing. On another note, this festival, The Hindu Holi Festival of Colors is F-U-N for everyone, all ages, all nationalities. I can't wait for next year. Seriously one Holi Fest a year isn't enough, we need at least two. I can't wait to go back. Ringa. Ringa. Ringa. Cuz, I'm so Bollywood, heh.

There was also a seafood cook off and as much as I love watching cooking programs on television, watching them live is so much more enjoyable, so I was in for this event in the blink of an eye. So we arrived right before the doors were about to open and park (complimentary all around the convention center). What I noticed immediately was how many people were there standing in line. No less than 1000 guests on a big Tuesday night. Once the doors opened the line did move pretty fast. When we entered there was a table set up where they were giving away bags, hats, measuring spoons for your rice pot cher, fans and of course Tabasco products. I've noticed when someone is giving away free stuff there's a sort of mob mentality, fend for yourself, push a grandma out of the way to get some of the swag. It's crazy and me no likey. Once we escaped without getting trampled by the angry mob we got to business sampling food. Everything we tried was delish but here are some of my favorites- Charley G's Smoked Duck and Andouille Gumbo (OMG! The. Best!) Cafe Habana City Roast Pork, shredded beef, sweet plantains Dean-O's Assorted specialty "mini" Pizzas (Rajun Cajun) Blu Basil Wine & Grill Avocado Pork Potstickers Lagneaux's Shrimp Pasta Reve Coffee Roasters Lemon Zucchini Bread La Pizzeria Spinach and Artichoke Dip Sophi P Cakes Cupcakes in a cup Graton Eatery Jumbo Soft Shell Crab Salad (I died) I will definitely make this a yearly tradition! See you next year!
