EL Mundo de Vino has a ton of wines and champagnes to choose from, as well as Whiskey, Vodka and Pisco of course Their prices are super competitive and the store is beautiful. Their wines are stacked high in the wooden displays making you feel like you have walked into an exclusive wine cellar. Their staff are all trained and knowledgeable about their wide wine selection. I always know when I walk in that one of their employees will be able to help me pick out something perfect for whatever the occasion. The store is open later too so no need to dash over after work. They also have special packing accessories for travelers who want to take wine home with them. Nothing better than bringing home a Chilean wine after a long trip away from home.

Less than a year old, this beer store has already made a name for itself among the beer elitists in Chile. Started by fellow gringos, Beervana on Los Leones, has an incredible selection of both international and national beers. In fact, they have one fridge of US-beers, one of European beers (from the UK, Belgium and Germany) and one of Chilean microbrews. My favorites include their brews imported from some of California's best breweries such as Ballast Point, Green Flash, Coronado, Anderson Valley and Devil's Canyon. The owners, Ben and Perry, have the patience of a saint and take the time to explain (even to the most novice of beer drinkers) what is what and how you can distinguish between the brews. Definitely worth the time to come by and check out the beer options for your next asado. Also, if you fear these artesian beers might break the bank, keep an eye out as they always seem to have promotions on something (last week it was on Groupon but they also post it on FB).

I think it is safe to say that whenever you think something should be closed (due to a bank holiday or because it is particularly late) Comercial Colonia is open for all of your alcohol needs. During the evenings, once the supermarkets close, Comercial Colonia always has a long line out front of people looking to get a late night drink. I have also been in the line a number of times myself and should warn you that there can be a seedy crowd hanging around so be careful with belongings. I recently had a particularly good experience here which is why I decided to write a review. While waiting in line with a friend (who happens to be blonde), all of a sudden we were accosted by a couple of extremely drunk guys who started screaming "gringas" and asking all sorts of inappropriate things. The staff inside began yelling at them to leave while getting out of the barred up store to help plus the other people in line also helped to distract them and get them to go - everyone handled a situation that could have ended badly, really well.
