On my recent trip to SP, I learned that Wednesday is known as feijoada day! Staying at a hotel in the Jardins hood, I asked my lunch friend to take me to a nearby spot with reliable feijoada and crisp chopps of beer to wash it down.
It took us no more than 5 minutes to walk over to Boteco Brasil and already, I knew I'd love it. Super casual, wallet friendly and brimming with all the staples, I put on my best portuguese and ordered their regular sized feijoada (they offer a mini size if you're eating alone). The piping hot, hearty stew arrived in a clay bowl with a side of white rice, and a plate with a pork chop, sautéed kale, extra sausage, farofa, and pork rinds. To say this dish encapsulated everything I could ever want in a meal isn't doing it justice.
And, if you're the type that's scared of finding pig ears, entrails, or other edible bizarrities, you'll rest easy knowing I didn't taste anything outside of the standard sausage in my bowl of beans. Although there were some unidentifiable items ;)
If you're looking for a cheap and hearty meal in a bar setting, this boteco is likely to satisfy! read more
