For several years now, we've crossed the island of Elba from the little town of Cavo, where my…read morein-laws own a vacation home, to the larger and lovely Maricana Marina on the other side of the island and each time eaten at Vizio Antico, an experience I always look forward to. The restaurant is set in a serene and rarely crowded piazza next to the main church. This last time we were a little surprised upon our arrival that the menu had changed and the dishes that we order every time were no longer there. However, the paccheri (a Neapolitan pasta) and ravioli dishes that they replaced them with were just as superb. They have fancied things up a bit with the presentation. Restaurants on Elba can be revolting and are generally catered toward undiscriminating vacationers. Though I have never eaten anywhere else in Marciana Marina, I can't imagine that the many other restaurants in town could be any better. If you find yourself anywhere on Elba, this place is worth going out of your way for.
