Cordon Bleu Chicken Supreme

Fantastic date at Bordeaux restaurant at the Secrets in Akumal, Mexico! The food was exquisite and very beautifully displayed. The service was exceptional and the ambiance was so classy and romantic! The "Mayan Coffee" dessert experience is one you definitely want to try. They flambé it right at your table! 5 STARS!

Bordeaux at Dreams Tulum offers an elegant and intimate dining experience as the same building as Gohan and Teppanyaki Table . The menu features a delightful selection of French-inspired dishes, prepared and beautifully presented by the waiters and waitresses. The service is spot on, with attentive and knowledgeable staff always walking with a bottle of wine to keep it full. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply seeking a refined dining experience at the resort, Bordeaux is a must-try. I got the duck plate and wife got the beef fillet, duck was a little on the dry side and beef fillet was cooked medium, wish we got medium rare. presentation was good. My favorite was the Salmon Tartar. Creme Brulee is torched when served at your table, leaving a great presentation.

Easily our favorite restaurant choice at the Dreams all inclusive resort. The service here and ambience were a level above all the other options. Highlights included the personal and professional service and management which began when with. Daniel was an excellent server. The potato soup, filet, and desserts were flawless. The escargot was good but could have used more butter and garlic. We returned to this gem! Don't sleep on repeat visits when staying here. Loved it!!

The food was amazing. I got the orange duck and my friend got the lamb. The dessert was the best crème brûlée.

This was the French restaurant located in the secrets resorts. At this location in Mexico ifyou purchased a bottle of wine/liquor (your choice) you were able to have a private dinner in their wine cellar. We met a few other couples that we kept meeting up with for dinners during our trip and we decided to do this. Along with your choice of bottle you also have access to a different menu (lobster, escargot, special desserts, etc) . Some people may feel if your staying at an all inclusive resort they don't want to spend additional money however, I recommend splurging for this. It was really nice to have this experience along with private waiters and really take it all in. Think about it on your next trip!

Free French cuisine here at Secrets Akumal. Waited an hour for dinner on a Friday night at 830pm. When we finally got seated around 945pm, it took quite a bit to get served any drinks. When we ordered I wanted to try several things. Salmon, chicken, lamb, deserts, breads, etc. This was fun to try a French cuisine at an all inclusive but don't expect it to be spectacular. The chicken cordon bleu was by far the best and would get that again. Desserts were amazing!

This is best restaurant in secret silversands. This place has great atmosphere, romantic, live piano performance. Our waiter Roberto is super nice and very attentive Food are great. Lamb and seafood and many more for choice

Mussles

I really want to give them 4 stars, I really do.... But we've been perhaps spoiled with really good French cuisine in the past so we had high expectations. We stayed at secrets Akumal. For not needing reservations, there was a ridiculously long wait (1 hour+). We ordered the tartar duo and mussels for our appetizer. The tartar duo was beautiful and plated well, but tasted bland and almost like they used canned tuna. It definitely needed some acid. The mussels were not good. It needed some more flavor, herbs, perhaps a dash of cream... they were overcooked and did not taste so fresh. It wasn't served with any bread or anything. As authentic French mussels are often served with some sort of side. The waiter forgot to bring us bread, and when we asked for some he barely gave us any (we asked for two pieces each and the breads are almost the size of mini macaroons). We also ordered the duck and filet. The filet was prepared well, flavors were amazing just the quality of the meat was not good which was apparent from the texture of the meat. The duck was tasty, but over cooked. Dessert was delicious, just some minor details that could have been better. We ordered the Mille Feuille, it was tasty but wasn't a traditional Mille Feuille. The cream was rubbery and the pastry was undercooked. The berry sauce however was delicious. I also ordered a cappuccino. This is the second time, and I'm wondering if they know how to make a cappuccino because it was more of a latte. However I have to say it was really good! I really really want to give more stars, the ambiance is beautiful, design is done tastefully, concept is on point, just needs some minor improvements. ALSO PORTIONS ARE SUPER SMALL!!

Escargot

Service time was unreal. About two hours from Arrival to Dinner. Shrimp and Risotto were good. Mussels were ok. Escargot didn't try but couple with us seemed to enjoy. Aside from the long wait after we were seated, the servers were here and there. It was a long wait as I've said already however even during that time period we had to try to catch a waiter to get wine and then to be explained that the water they were pouring was filtered then that same water was actually bottled water that they poured into a larger pitcher and then to our table...never provided a bottled water for the table. A few of us actually went over to an adjacent sushi restaurant and brought drinks back over to our table without the help of our servers. All in all it was the lowlight of the restaurants at the resort.

Best restaurant at Secrets! Asparagus soup was delicious. Fondue was good. My friend loved her filet and it was actually medium rare. Definitely try this place out!

One of the big reasons my wife chose Grand Velas was its stellar food options. The resort has four 2024 AAA Four Diamond restaurants (Frida, Piaf, Sen Lin, Lucca) and one 2024 Michelin Star and AAA Five Diamond restaurant (Cocina de Autor). Generally, the food, drink, and service were outstanding. Piaf was one of my favorite restaurants of the group. Below is how I rank Grand Velas Riviera Maya's restaurants. Book reservations as early as you can for Cocina de Autor, Frida, Piaf, Sen Lin, and Lucca (the nicer sit-down restaurants). Tier One 1. Cocina de Autor - fine dining, tasting menu Tier Two 2. Frida - Mexican 3. Bistro - casual, poolside sit-down 4. Piaf - French 5. Sen Lin - Asian Tier Three 6. Lucca - Italian 7. Azul - casual, poolside buffet Piaf is located in the Grand Class section of the resort, which is mostly reserved for adults only. More specifically, Piaf is located next to Sky Bar and Cocina de Autor. These are among the higher-end establishments at Grand Velas. In this area, the dress code is more formal (e.g., no shorts or sandals allowed) and the ambiance is more sophisticated, at what's already a classy resort. My wife and I had a great time here, not only at Piaf, but at Sky Bar and Cocina de Autor as well. We got drinks and hung out at Sky Bar before dinner at Piaf. Sky Bar is worth a visit. Before or after dinner at Piaf or Cocina de Autor is a good opportunity. It's a wonderful, swanky bar with superb cocktails and service. Piaf is what I consider a modern upscale French restaurant. It's "white-tablecloth" dining, but the decor is contemporary and the service is more casual. It certainly doesn't look nor feel like a traditional, stuffy French restaurant, though they do try to "transport" you to "the Parisian luxury of the 1940s." I enjoyed the live music, which was provided by a talented violist (or violinist, couldn't tell which). The red and black interior with distinct, ornate chandeliers is beautiful. If the weather is nice, the dining room opens to the outside with an elevated view of the ocean. Below is a list of what we had. Even though this is an all-inclusive resort, the menu still has prices for those who have to pay separately. I've included those prices, in Mexican pesos, for informational purposes. Complimentary Amuse-Bouche Complimentary Bread Service * Three types of breads, rolls, and pastries, two types of butter (regular and tarragon) and herb salt Appetizers * Lentil salad in two textures, Scandinavian-style salmon, candied carrot puree with yuzu, tangerine mousseline, ikura, and mint oil ($420) * Crispy oysters with mayonnaise foam ($650) * Foie gras terrine served with apple puree, gingerbread ice cream, and toasted brioche ($550) * Traditional snails with tartiflette, Morbier cheese, and watercress puree ($450) Fish and Seafood * Scallops with black lentils, served with lime tea sauce and crispy apple ($600) Meat and Poultry * Ribeye Angus with green pepper sauce, pasta and truffle risotto, roasted cauliflower, and herbs salad ($900) Desserts * Dulce de leche and banana fondant ($350) * Financier with yuzu mousseline sauce ($300) * Dark chocolate souffle served with passionfruit sauce ($300) In general, we really liked the food. Presentation-wise, everything looked terrific. My wife and I each only had one dish that we weren't big fans of. For her, it was the snails. For me, it was the foie gras. I thought the snails were delicious and finished every last one of them. The watercress puree paired well and was unique. I normally like foie gras and we order it a lot if it's on the menu. However, this particular terrine had, in my opinion, an unpleasant funky flavor/odor that I could never get comfortable with. My wife liked it, though. Everything else was good to excellent. I have to point out the blue cheese pastry bread. It was surprisingly fantastic and I don't even like blue cheese. It was like a blue cheese-stuffed croissant. We don't remember what the amuse-bouche was. I think it was some sort of fish cake. It was yummy. We had red and white wines with our meal. I suggest going with the Mexican wines at Grand Velas. They were the best we had. The service we experienced at Piaf was worse compared to the otherwise exceptional service we experienced during our stay at Grand Velas. I think there were two reasons for this: (1) There was a misunderstanding internally within Grand Velas staff about our reservation time. When we arrived on time, Piaf staff didn't have a reservation for us and therefore, had to accommodate us as walk-ins. (2) During our visit, the servers appeared to be short-staffed. They were definitely spread thin, rushing between tables, and not really able to spend the right amount of time with each party. As a result, the service was more robotic and less personable. I get it. It happens.

We were not told this which was very frustrating so do not believe your concierge, most have no clue about the hotel. However, after waiting for 30 minutes the server allowed us to be sat as a one time exception. The food was great. I loved the ribeye, fish with potato flakes, and soufflé with passion fruit. They can simplify the food if you have a picky teen, but my kids loved it. It's a very nice restaurant with a violin playing, but it was dark. I recommend this place but make sure your kids are 12+.

With its open air vibe and plenty of jungle foliage, not to mention the 80+ degree heat and borderline oppressive humidity, Labrioche can't pretend to be in Paris. But it's about as close as you'll come to a quaint Parisian sidewalk cafe when in Playa. The seating is outdoor only, with friendly table service; and you can also pick up coffee, pastries, and sandwiches to go if needed for a day at the beach or a relaxing evening in the condo. Our favorite here were the almond and chocolate almond croissants. They were absolutely divine and I have to confess we enjoyed these sweet delicacies at least three or four mornings. Twice we also visited for a sit-down breakfast, sharing the generous La Mexicana breakfast with red chilaquiles, the freshest OJ ever, coffee, and a brioche. On the last day we stopped at their takeout counter (located in the back) to order some sandwich deliciousness for the plane ride home. I opted for the smoked salmon sandwich with boursin spread, avocado, and fresh tomatoes - all served atop a baguette that was as good as any I've ever had in a French bakery. What puts Labrioche over the top for me is the pricing. One morning we each had a latte, shared a total of three baked goods (hey, it was vacay!), OJ, and the La Mexicana - the bill was only $21 including gratuity. Amazing!
