I spoke with Mr Shaffer yesterday and was very impressed. He answered all my questions and was very helpful. I highly recommend him.

I was referred to Andrew Shaffer from my previous attorney who retired. I was very impressed with everything Andrew has done with me. I was a police officer with a list of injuries which led me to an early retirement. Even after retirement my body continued to break down. All my injuries were connected to my 15 year career in law enforcement and Andrew fought for me to be very well financially compensated. Andrew didn't stop there, he filed with the state due to my level of disability and I was awarded financial compensation from the Subsequent Injuries Benefit Trusts Fund (SIBTF). Such a relief for me as I now can enjoy retirement comfortably. I now live in Idaho with my wife. Living here, I have met many disabled police officers who did not have the same outcome as I did. The horror stories of denied claims on workplace injuries and the treatment they received from the administration and human resource dept is sickening. They were taken advantage of during a very low point in their careers. Don't let this happen to you! I consider myself very blessed to have been represented by Andrew Shaffer and be financially taken care of going into the next chapter in my life. I couldn't be happier in life now! read more

My husband and I were out with some friends that told us about the SIBTF program, and Mr. Borah. We called him, made an appointment and went in and talked to him. He explained everything to us thoroughly making sure we were completely informed. We were so impressed,we hired him. He told us it could take a year or two before anything happened and that he would be in touch. To our pleasant surprise, things moved much quicker than we anticipated! Mr. Borah did a great job for us! The outcome completely exceeded our expectations and we couldn't be happier with the results! He's a great lawyer ,if you ever need an SIBTF lawyer definitely give Mr. Borah a call! read more

Shaffer sounds like a knowledgeable, caring and out going WC attorney. Though my relationship was not with Shaffer, I gave the firm a "One". Borah on the other hand was my "Biggest" mistake in life! Try fifteenth years of neglect that left me disabled! Everyone needs to be their own "advocate"! Stay involved in your case because attorney's aren't God, though they may think they are! read more

Normally, I don't write reviews (as a busy working mom of a toddler..time is precious). However, my recent experience with attorney Andrew Shaffer was exceptional - above and beyond what I could have expected from an initial consultation. I recently had an initial consultation with Attorney Shaffer (following social distancing & mask of course) on behalf of my father. I was left thoroughly impressed and grateful for the following reasons: 1) Not once did he try to "market" or "sell" his service...which sometimes I get the sense when you contact some attorneys. 2 ) He was very patient - really took the time to review the facts related to my father's case and explained them to me in a way that I can understand. 3) At several points - he even frankly let me know that "given how close to the end the case is..it's not worth it for my father to pay him the fee. Instead, he simply offered me advice on how I can proceed with the case." 4) I can tell he knows his facts and is experienced with the complexity of the Worker's Compensation laws as well as which doctors would be most favorable in case of QME, etc. Overall, unlike some other consultations I had with other attorneys (which typically took maybe ~15-20 min tops), Andrew spent almost an hour simply just providing me advice on how I can best proceed with the case on my own, if I so choose. I'm a firm believer that actions speaks louder than words. Many individuals, attorneys included, can promise you a lot of things. However, at the end of the day, I think it's what they actually do, especially when they're not obligated to, that really says a lot about them. For anyone who is unfortunate to suffer a work related injury, I really highly recommend that you contact Attorney Andrew Shaffer first. I only wished I had knew to do that at the very on-set. Schedule an initial consultaiton and see for yourself, don't just take my word. In these crazy pandemic times, it's really comforting to know there are still people out there who are so willing to simply provide help! read more

Mr. Shaffer is excellent counsel. He made things manageable, and that is no small feat. He made a painful, demoralizing, complicated, foreign, intractable, downright interminable process manageable. He explains options, answers questions, is honest, and helps you through each step. He knew his stuff at all times over the several years I worked with him. His personal manner is kind and detail oriented, with everyone I saw him interact with. I am grateful to have had his assistance. I needed assistance, but was unsure if or how to proceed. I was unsure what I would want to do once I found out my rights. Mr. Shaffer provided thorough, clear and relevant information to help me. It is stressful to be injured or disabled. It can be, and was for me, constantly and disablingly painful as well. I was impressed by how he stuck to relevant metrics and law during proceedings. I do not mean he was heartless; I mean just the opposite. He was reasonable, clear-headed and efficient through engagements that others tried to manipulate unreasonably. It was a seemingly small, but very significant comfort. His focused and continued involvement was a real asset in the process of getting benefits and resolving the case. If you are in pain and don't know your rights, it's incredibly difficult to figure out what is worth working on versus not. Mr. Shaffer can help you figure out what to do in a caring, compassionate, no-nonsense manner. read more

We went to him was been told that he was one of the better WC attorneys. We don't know other WC attorney, so, don't know if that statement is true. but he was not someone I'd recommend. He was very great with communicated with us before he got us signed up. The final draw was , till when it came really crucial to get his respond. There were none for 5 days. He is not trust worthy. I think it is an one man office, he probably won't miss you if you don't call him on any of your future cases read more

I highly recommend Mr. Andrew K. Shaffer, co-founder and partner in the Law Office Of Borah & Shaffer for your legal workman's compensation and social security disability needs. It is rare that I take the time to acknowledge services that are provided to a client, but Andrew is a very rare breed when it comes to attorney's who exhibit the highest degree possible of knowledge, professionalism, courage, and a laser-like focus on doing what is best for his clients. I stumbled upon Andrew via an internet search in 2016 after I had spent several months on my own trying to navigate the federal government's social security disability system. After a few months it became apparent that the federal government is not interested in facilitaing the filing of a disability claim. There are obstacles put in one's path at every turn, and something like 99% of all applications are denied after the first submission and even first appeal. The best decision I made was hiring Andrew who guided me through the process every step of the way always looking out for my interests. Andrew will not take your case unless he is confident his client will be approved and after hearing my case he determined that he could help me obtain a fully favorable decision. Andrew stayed in touch, answered all my emails promptly and professionally, and guided me through a process that no-one likes and that everyone admits is stacked against the applicant in so many areas. Almost 2 years after my initial application, Andrew was able to help me obtain a fully favorable decision from the administrative law judge who heard my case. I never would have been able to navigate the process and obtain a verdict like I did without Andrew's help, guidance, and advocacy. If you are disabled and can't work and are considering filing for social security disability benefits, I strongly encourage you to contact Andrew. He will honestly advise you if he can help you, and he will also tell you if he can't. If he does tell you he can help you, believe him! He is a joy to work with and he clearly excels at and is passionate about his work, about continued learning in this ever-changing landscape, and, most importantly, taking care of his clients and ensuring they get the best possible care and outcome. I give my strongest endorsement possible to attorney Andrew K. Shaffer, and would not hesitate to recommend him to a member of my family, a close friend, or ANYONE unable to work because of a disability. Andrew also has a successful workman's compensation practice as well, and I know he can provide excellent services in that area should you need him. Thanks Andrew for everything ! read more

I found Mr. Shaffer to be extremely knowledgeable, a good listener, a good communicator, and extremely helpful in every way. He understood my questions and answered them clearly. I consulted him in regards to a workers compensation issue, and found him to be first rate. I wrote the above back in 2013. Recently (March, 2018) I had another occasion to consult with Mr. Shaffer. Again, he was extremely helpful. He understood my situation and all of my concerns, and answered all my questions directly and clearly. He gave me exactly the information and guidance I needed. Mr. Borah and Mr. Shaffer are fantastic attorneys that specialize in Workers' Compensation law. I have had occasion to refer many patients to them for representation. All are pleased. I have worked with Mr. Borah for going on 20 years. They fight for the rights of clients and will not recommend settlement if it is not fair. With all workers' compensation attorneys, there is often times a delay before they return calls. Realize that they are paid from the clients settlement, there is no retainer, or other up front fees. Because the attorneys need to have many cases running to make a living the delay is unavoidable. What I have found, based on over 20 years of experience is that Brett and Andrew return calls faster than any other attorney with whom I worked. You will be pleased to have Mr. Borah or Mr. Shaffer represent you in matters of workers' compensation or Social Security matters! read more

The attorney Andrew Shaffer specializes in Workers Comp cases. He is a great lawyer and is very diligent and capable of handling the complicated and often mystifying labor laws and paperwork that have to be filed and presented when presenting a WC claim. Mr. Shaffer was instrumental in helping us navigate the often byzantine procedures and documents that are crucial to win these type of cases. Thanks to him, we were able to arrive at a positive and equitable outcome with our case. The attorney was very good about keeping us in the loop and explaining what was happening with our claim, every step of the way. I would highly recommend the services of Mr. Shaffer to any and all who are pursuing a WC claim and are in search of a dependable, trustworthy and experienced counsel who may well be the difference between success and failure in pursuing their case! read more

If you have any legal concerns regarding Workers' Compensation, then run, don't walk, to Andrew Shaffer's office (well, call first, but you know what I mean...). When I first called Andrew's office, I was terrified. I'd never had to hire a lawyer before, and I'd never been injured on the job. Given my propensity for avoiding conflict, calling a lawyer felt so strange to me, but given my situation, I had to do it; after all, my former employer wasn't interested in following the law, and I needed to get medical treatment. That wasn't going to happen without legal representation. Throughout the entire process, Andrew was knowledgeable, trustworthy, patient, and genuinely caring. When you meet him, it's evident he went into law to help others, and not just for the money or prestige. Throughout the entire process, Andrew was generous with his time, and always made sure to keep me up-to-date on everything that was going on. And, he adeptly handled the defense lawyer, a surprisingly antagonistic individual who insisted my case go to trial. In the end, I ended up winning my case, too! As corny as it sounds, this experience helped me to realize that if you have the right folks on your side, standing up for yourself (instead of being afraid to do so) can be incredibly emotionally fulfilling. read more

Brett Borah is a great and he doesn't know it but he has answered many of my workers compensation questions on Avvo since 2013 to date as I have had two unfortunate accidents. I am Pro Per and wouldn't have it any other way but if I were going to get an attorney, it would definitely be Brett Borah. The problem with workers compensation attorneys is time, as many of them have a case loads and is not willing to sit in court all day for a measly $100 mileage reimbursement check. The insurance company knows that applicant attorney only get paid at the end of the claim and knows they can mess with you because your attorney is not going to go to court for that. So, the idea is to get you to settle out of frustration. Pro per's who can comprehend the easy laws of workers compensation (compared to civil) and has time and energy, would do better going it on their own. As a pro per, I can go in the room with the other attorneys while their poor clients are waiting in the waiting room. Sadly, I have heard attorneys agree to settle an injured workers case for cheap in order to get a better deal on a more profitable case. The injured worker waiting for them has no clue that they were just sold. read more

I wish I had the success stories with a Workmen's Compensation settlement that I am reading about posted here. Mine is NOT a success story at all. My career and life has been ruined by an unfair firing of me by an injury that occurred with US Vision located inside JC Penney Optical in San Bruno. The district manager of the store ran into my foot with a loaded store dolly. I was given ten days off to recover by a doctor and was fired for not going to work in those ten days. Mr. Borah was my attorney from 1998 until 2010. At the time I was fired I was manager of the busiest store in the region and my commission for the month was very high. I didn't receive my commissions and was not allowed back in the store and lost a very nice leather case with all my paperwork in it. I would have earned about $45,000 that year. Instead I am forced to still be working at a miserable part time job standing for six hours for $11.00 an hour. My foot still hurts especially in damp weather. But anyway, after fighting this case for twelve years, I was exhausted and took a $10,000 lousy settlement. I feel like I lost $530,000 in salaries I would have accrued if I hadn't been fired. read more
