Walked in for a beer, walked out questioning my entire existence. The air smells like a gym locker room that gave up on life, the floor feels like it's trying to swallow you, and the staff look at you like you personally offended them by breathing. This review is just for the beer selection, which was picked over and beyond mediocre. The store employee helping us was very nice, but did not know what the store carried, suggested beers that absolutely didn't match our tastes, and repeatedly took us over to an area that supposedly had a beer.. only to find it was sold out. It was a struggle to find anything in the store and then when we did, their register wasn't working properly and couldn't ring up the beers. I will not be back. read more

Don't get me wrong the store has everything what you need. I go to pay at what the counter and I'm denied I'm 56 years old because I had my 24-year-old son and his 23-year-old girlfriend with me and she looks young they said I couldn't make the purchase I said well I just take what I bought and still denied, glad they enforce the laws. I feel like I was mistreated and racially profiled by female at the counter. Guessing they didn't need my money yet she didn't ask for my identification or my son's. Makes you think. read more

I loved Bootleggers until they stopped comparing price when the new owner took over. When I asked to compare they asked for my receipt from White Horse Liquor. I did not have it because price was online. In the past with old owner, they would take the time to look it up in computer and Match price. Why would I drive to absecon, purchase a wine then drive to bootleggers with receipt???? Bad customer service. I went in last night to buy a bottle of wine and was denied service because my 15yr old son was standing with me?! So I said ok, and was putting my credit card away when she followed up with oh and I can't help you even if you come back for the rest of the night now that you have walked in here with your son. So not sure if this is another beyond stupid law in NJ or this business but I have never had this issue before. Would they rather leave children home alone or left alone in a car? What about single parents? Should they have to hire a babysitter just so they can buy alcohol for a dinner or to bring as a gift? read more

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving AND my Birthday! So I figured I'd splurge and get a bottle of Clase Azul tequila. It's an expensive tequila. I asked a worker if they had it. He gets on the radio and asks if they have it. I'm assuming it was the manager (Lincoln) that replied Because he said it was "here in the office". I said great. How much is it? Employee again asks over the radio how much is it. The manager (Lincoln) replies "if he has to ask, he can't afford it". I was like are you fucking kidding me. I was told a price 5/2/21 on 2 small bottles but when I got home & looked at my receipt, I was charged more for both. Went back the next day and the old guy with the white hair was a real jerk, lied & shook his head no & said NO RETURNS! I was charged TWICE what I can purchase for elsewhere! How can a business tell you a price & when it rings up wrong, neither refund nor adjust the price? How can a business have an employee who treats its customers as rudely as this man has? My friends and I were headed down to Atlantic City for a night of clubbing and fun. We all did not look 21 and were given a few looks upon entering. Other than that, there is a HUGE selection of everything you need, from just a six pack of beer to hard liquor. I think there's even a snack aisle which I was amused by. Overall, well lit, not too expensive, organized, clean, large store. Employees don't look very trusting towards us, but they didn't give us any problems! read more

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. My friend and I are both 21 and decided to go here. When we walked in we were stared at and a man working there walked up to me and said hi, I'm the manager. I hadn't asked to speak to a manager and had just walked in, so I found this odd. As my friend and I walked around, it felt as though we were being followed by this manager man. My friend had forgot her ID so I said I would buy it and made sure she did not touch any of the alcohol because I knew they would card her. As we went up to pay it felt as though all of the employees were staring at us. We hadn't even made it to the register yet and we were yelled at "both of you ID NOW" I stated that I was buying the alcohol and my friend had not touched any and therefore would not be purchasing anything. We were told to leave the cart and get out. When I said that she was just there and did not get anything, we were yelled at and told you must be 21 to be in the store. I left the cart there and will never be returning. Not sure how it is a rule that everyone there must be 21 when I see adults with their children there and they are not given an issue when trying to purchase alcohol. This place is run by con men. Special ordered an item and when it came in the put it up for auction to highest bidder. Manager said it was owners idea to make the most money they could didnt care if i returned. Prices are much higher than other local shops and they have poor selection. Have bought wine there that must have gotten hot gone bad they refused to take it back. Check beer date codes as its oooold. I hope people see this and make a stand to put these people out. Terrible people, terrible place. read more
