Boswell built a house for me back in 2008. Throughout the build situations arose due to the fact of…read morehis inexperience that cost me thousands more than his bid. I can only compare him and his contracting skills to Mickey Mouse! As in, his way to fix cracked concrete would be to Caulk it with a sealer. Not knowing any better myself, I thought that it should be replaced. His response was I would have to pay for it to be replaced! Which I found out too late was wrong. He ordered the wrong windows for the whole house, and the inspector caught that. So he had to replace them. He also ordered the wrong size of cabinets in my kitchen. He had to pay for that, then turned around and asked if I wanted to buy the extra cabinets. Of course I said no, what would I do with extra cabinets. I was very surprised to find out that I had to buy screen doors for the house. He stated that this wasn't in the contract. I also asked are you going to caulk the cracks between the windows and house and other things for insulation. He stated again that wasn't in the cost of the contract. I also asked if he was going to fill holes in the woodwork that was installed in the house, such as baseboards and all the wood trim. Again, he stated this was not in the contract. The wiring in my house is a joke! For instance, when I turn on my ceiling fan in the living room, the light that I have on the opposite wall that's plugged into the wall shuts off, or turns on. Also the cable wiring is in adequate for Cox cable to run a strong signal through my house. So we had to run new cable in my house. You would think when you pay for a house that you would have a mailbox on it, wrong! He stated again that this wasn't in the contract among so many little things as cabinet handles in the kitchen, Deadbolt locks on the door, etc. all my walls in the entire house are white, and if I wanted them painted a different color I would have to pay extra. I also have had a ongoing problem with frost in the attic in the winter. I confronted him before the five-year contract was up, and was very glad I looked up in the attic on the fourth year and found out about this. But by this time it was too late and it had soaked through insulation and through the drywall. Now I have wet spots throughout my living room dining room and kitchen rooms. His solution was to put more static vents on the roof. For a total of nine static vents, which I was told by another contractor is way too many! This year I found out that the bathroom vent shutter was stuck open and do the fact he ran the vent through the soffit, was pushed back into the attic from the wind which caused all the moisture in my attic. As you can see he charge me for a medium priced exhaust fan and bought the cheapest one possible. As in everything else he put into my house. His wife and himself did the final cleanup inside the house, which is kind of odd I thought. And he probably charge me for a professional cleaning crew to come in and clean the carpet wash the windows etc. How are experiencing a growing his wife and himself did the final cleanup inside the house, which is kind of odd I thought. And he probably charge me for a professional cleaning crew to come in and clean the carpet wash the windows etc. The concrete slab from my porch by the front door was not properly done. Where the concrete meets the house is a direct crap that when it rains or any water is up on the porch goes directly down into my garage. I confronted him about this and he used his Mickey Mouse solution by caulking it! I have tried to fix most of the stuff by myself but there are a few things that I had to do by hiring a person to come in and fix the cracks in my ceiling is due to the moisture seeping through the drywall. I could go on longer but I am starting to get frustrated. I would advise anybody that would think about hiring this guy think twice!
