I love to read and I love a bargain, this little bookstore inside the Winter Haven library pavilion…read moresatisfies both of those things. There are not too many places in 2015 where you can buy 4 paperbacks for $1 and that offer 2/$1 and 2/$2 on selected hardback books. This bookstore is small, but, it is crammed with lots of books at unbelievable bargains, they do carry some newer books and some collectible books at a bit of a premium over the ones listed above but, most people who read a lot like me should be able to find something they like at an affordable price. If you come to this bookstore bring cash, they don't accept credit cards, also, be patient and make sure you count your change, as the ladies/gentlemen who volunteer to run the shop are seasoned citizens and a few times they have gotten my change incorrect (in my favor) and I had to let them know. The shop is located in a bike/walker friendly area with parking available for vehicles at the library, on the street, a parking lot across the street, and a block down there is a free parking garage. There is also a coffee shop located next door and of course the Winter Haven public library is right across the hall.

They have two entrances one from an interior hallway and another from the outside both were open and welcoming to the patrons that were browsing, they had a great little book nook for you to sit down and browse through your newest selection and even a wall that was dedicated to literature pages from the past I absolutely loved all the selections, the different genres and the trinkets they had everything from your typical book mark to totes mugs, T-shirts, and other stuff that was unique and branded to the shop- support your local businesses!

I call Wednesday because I've received no communication about it. Was told it would be in Friday. Friday comes and goes with no call. Saturday i called, finally spoke to a guy named Kevin. He refunds me for it. Today at 8 am i get a call from them telling me its now in. Apparently the owner/manager doesn't speak to his employees about it. She tells me are you sure its refunded i tell her to have the owner/manager call me. I might have uttered a bad word because i was frustrated. I hang up. Two hours later i'm on the phone trying to get services set up for my disabled son when they were calling me again. I apologized to kevin for the bad word. Instead of accepting said apology i get raked over the coals over it. Keeps telling me about it. Sir, you are not my parent and you need to learn forgiveness. Even Jesus learned how to forgive. Kevin should try forgiveness. It might do wonders for his business, especially when amazon sells the same books he does for half the price. Amazon doesn't care if i say a bad word.

I visited because I heard that on Friday from 4-7 PM local Christian musicians got together. I ordered tea, asked one of the staff, but she didn't know. I waited for 1/2 hour and no musicians, so I left. I emailed the owner, but she never returned my email. Rude Christians with no business savvy whatsoever. Number 1 reason why, in spite of all the refurbishing of Downtown, with businesses such as this "Christian" store, Lake Wales Downtown will continue to be a dump.

The section near the front door has some interesting finds, though pricing can be a bit high relative to condition. Even so, I did manage to pick up a few items I had been looking for at reasonable prices. The deeper section inside the store is where I had the best luck, with a much better mix of selection and value. There is a lot to go through, and I ended up making a second trip back just to finish digging through everything I wanted to explore. I came away with several great vinyl finds on both visits. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and very personable, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Free parking right by the front entrance is another added benefit, especially since street parking in the area is metered during weekday business hours. I also noticed they have a large selection of comic books, which may be of interest if you enjoy collecting those as well. If you enjoy digging for records and don't mind spending time searching, Lloyds of Lakeland is definitely worth a stop.
