These guys are absolutely horrible. They ship very nice pots that are stamped from the Kimm without even packing them in foam. They just placed it in a box with some packing peanuts and it arrives to your house in pieces. Do not buy anything that is of any value from this place? read more

Trees are delivered with root balls that don't fit in even the largest bonsai pots. Half die shortly after planting.

The bonsai came with some sign of damaged leaves. A day later it started loosing leaves. Every day since it has lost leaves. I reached out to their customer service and was told it is normal for the bonsai to loose ALL its leaves. Had I know I would get a bonsai with no leaves I would have never purchased anything. I asked for a Bonsai tree from my parents for Christmas, and they bought me one from here. It died within a few months after taking proper care of it. After 9 months of still hoping it would "come back to life" because that's sort of what the pamphlet indicated, (or how I understood it), I finally reached out to the vendor asking if this was supposed to happen. I asked if it is supposed to die after a month or two. Instead of getting a resolution, I got a list of questions of "how I had been taking care of it" so they could send me more instructions on how to take care of another bonsai in the future. So I think this means that it's not guaranteed to live more than a month or two, so, why would you bother? Just buy a few months of flowers from the grocery store if you want to look at something pretty, but cheaper. I was hoping my bonsai would work out because it's a good corporate gift and I'm in charge of those at my company, so it won't be this place..... another logo sweatshirt for everyone it is! read more

I would give it no stars, however that is not possible. The plant I received had leaves on it, however the next day about half fell off and until there were none within 3 weeks. I contacted the company and they responded, telling me not to overwater, make sure it had enough light, etc. I already knew these things and was being very careful. I contacted them again with no response. yes, it does say they are not responsible once plant leaves their facility, but I believe the plant they sent me was on its way out and now I'm out $115. so buyer beware. read more

Upon receiving the bonsai (of course a Friday) I was concerned by the appearance and emailed the company immediately. There are 2 upper limbs that are dead and look like driftwood (red flag). Some of the newer leaves are larger than the inner leaves (red flag). It was well packed and secured (that's the one star), but it is not a quality bonsai for the flaws mentioned above; Nonetheless it is a living tree and I am concerned about it's well being. I'm hoping the company will allow me to return it (I will follow the steps the outlet lists for preparation to ship) in hopes they can help the tree to do as well as possible. I had some questions about the history and care of my new bonsai and reached out over email and phone multiple times over the course of 3 weeks now. No employee will actually pick up the phone, only thing you get is a voicemail saying email for faster service, what a joke. I purchased a bonsai tree for my daughters 1 year wedding anniversary. The plant was delivered when expected however the pot was broken. I emailed right away (picture of broken pot attached). Response was to plant the tree in another pot or wrap it in plastic till the replacement pot is delivered. The replacement pot was not over nighted and the tree remains in plastic. (A week later) The company did offer a replacement pot and extra dirt (however, that remains to be seen since the replacement pot is scheduled to arrive my 7 pm this evening. ). When the company sent out a replacement pot (the tracking number was not given to me) so I had to send yet another email asking about delivery date. At no time did the company offer credit, a refund or a gift certificate to apologize for the broken pot hassle. This company claims 100% customer satisfaction however I have yet to be satisfied. I would have liked to give this company zero stars however that is not an option. Save your money and your time - shop elsewhere! read more

I bought a bonsai from them for $380 which they said was a San Jose Juniper. The tree came and it was half dead. I brought it to a local bonsai specialist and he said that the roots were rotting when it arrived. I then asked him hypothetically if the tree was healthy how much he would sell it for. He said if it was healthy it would be worth about $200. In other words, bonsai outlet severely overprices their products. He also added it is just a normal Chinese juniper, not a San Jose as they marketed as. Lastly, the bonsai I bought was yellow and they said it is because it is shedding its winter colors, but the bonsai specialist said they are evergreen!!! Overall, I feel ripped off and I recommend anyone to avoid this site. It is not a bargain!!! read more

This tree was a joke when I pulled it out of the box! It was an important gift and I threw it away before she saw it I was so embarrassed. It was worth the hundred bucks to get it out of my sight! It truly was so bad the company must be desperate or fraudulent to even send it. If they thought it was ok to send, there is just no way I'm spending anymore time trying to get it right for them. I just received my order of a Coast Redwood bonsai kit. Overall, I am happy with my purchase. With my order I had included a question about storing the kit, and I received a handwritten response. The one downside was that shipping took longer than anticipated. The website said 5 days. I placed the order on a Friday and it shipped the following Monday. It did not arrive until the next Monday, even though the USPS tracking said it would arrive Thursday. I attribute this problem to USPS, not Bonsai Outlet, and I would order from them again--with a little more cushion on when I expected my order to arrive. read more

The Haws Mister is well built providing a "Victorian solarium" aesthetic . The watering can has a solid feel and heft when used. Our Bonsai came with some frost damage on the top...even tho they said they would only ship when the weather was acceptable. The damage seemed minor so I didn't complain. Unfortunately, the pot was broken. They sent us a replacement, but it was smaller then the original. I was assured it would be fine. We followed their directions and repotted the tree as best we could. The tree was well cared for but all the leaves fell off. Again, we were told this is normal the tree probably just went dormant. We are well in to Summer now...no leaves....very brittle....dead, dead, dead. Very disappointing.....and a very costly mistake to deal with Bonsai Outlet. read more

The tree I received was terrible. Lots of damage to the trunk from wires. The tree was also in terrible shape and hadn't been groomed by anyone who had any idea about bonsais. When I complained, I found out their customer service was even worse than their trees. They argued with me, they forgot my conversation and asked me multiple time for the same photos, they resolved nothing or offered nothing to remedy the situation. And this is after sending me notes asking if anything was less than 5 start! I wish I'd known that reporting something was going to fix nothing and just cost me a ton of time. I wrote a review a while back, but Bonsai Outlet only picks and choose which reviews to post up. This is a bad business practice. If you look at their website, did you wonder why every single plant has close to a 5 star rating? The plant came well packaged and a few leaves fell during transit, which is not a problem. However, I noticed there are small mites that crawl on the leaves. They do not seem to go away. I emailed customer service about this and another problem. They addressed me over a week later and about the other problem; nothing about the mites. A bunch of the leaves also seem to have cuts on them. Not sure what this is about. Additionally, the plant is smaller and not as full of leaves as the picture. I will give them 3 stars for the plant itself and 2 stars for the company. read more

I ordered my mother 2 bonsai trees from Bonsai Outlet on 12/12/16 for Christmas. She never received them and when I tried calling customer service, the message said they could be reached by email instead for help. So I emailed and the reply I got was it was delivered on 12/14 but my Mother said she never received them, she even checked with her neighbors and they didn't know about the delivery either. I emailed again and never got a reply back from them on the order status or if anything would be done about this. They deserve no stars, but 1 star was the lowest rating. Buyers, please beware of this dishonest company. I contacted my credit card provider to dispute the charges of nearly $95.00 for the trees. The product shipped 7 days later than it was supposed to. The product was shipped with eco-unfriendly Styrofoam peanuts that make a mess on your floor. The tree was half-dead! The tree and base were filled with little flying BUGS all through the tree and box. The planter doesn't look like a rock, rather cheap illformed ceramic container. They don't tell you that they don't ship to the west coast in winter. Instead they make you place an order and then tell you that your trees will ship "next week" every time you call. So I asked for pictures and more info. No response ! 2. I called and no answer the first few times I called during business hours. 3. My fourth call I talked to a lady and she couldn't answer any of my questions all though she was very polite , she took my info down and said someone would call me back in 5 min. No one called back that day at all ?! 4. Day 3 of my last attempts. Same thing no responses to emails and no calls back. The item I did want was no longer available on the site. Seriously ?! I was told I would get a call back again and nothing ! All I asked for was a actual picture of the tree ? I wanted to spend a few hundred on a tree. This place is lacking some simple sales skills and customer service skills. It's not hard to reply to an email or even a call. You guys had both my email and my phone number. Or is this place a sham ? Do you spend 200$ and get a 40$ tree that isn't what is pictured ? I dunno ? But they're prices looked good. Ordered my tree and it arrived packaged well. Followed the care instructions and became member of local bonsai group at my botanical gardens. My tree lost 75% of its leaves within 4 weeks. Called and emailed customer service who responded that my 30-day warranty / replacement expired. Local group said that the tree was in distress when it arrived and did not have much of a chance from the beginning. Had to file a claim with Amex to get my money back. Terrible customer service. I ordered a dawn redwood bonsai tree online as a gift in March 2015. The communication from customer service was excellent. I received several emails and always got a speedy response. My tree was delayed because of bad weather on the East coast which is perfectly understandable. When my tree arrived it was dormant and did not look anything like the photos online or what I was expecting. I followed the instructions and the tree started to bud a few weeks ago.
