I highly, highly recommend Bonn-am-Schloß! My wife and I have stayed at Bonn-am-Schloß not once but many times in the past five years, and we have stayed in each of the apartments. We thoroughly enjoyed each of our stays, and the hosts, Dina and Markus, are wonderful and helpful. All the apartments have modern furnishings, stylish bathrooms, and sleek, functional kitchens. And, all are quiet. The stylish garret apartment has a remarkable 360-degree view of the city from its rooftop terrace. The large basement apartment is spacious. And the smaller basement apartment has access to a lovely garden, a perfect spot for morning coffee or a late-afternoon glass of wine. The building itself is nestled in a beautiful historic neighborhood of extraordinary turn-of-the-century townhouses. A grocery store, several restaurants, and the botanical garden lie within a block or two, and even more amenities lie a mere 5-minute walk away in Poppelsdorf: bakeries, gelaterias, grocery stores, shops, bars and restaurants. This site offers three apartments for short or long-term rent in it's one location. And in fairness the location is great. But everything else is wrong with the rental, so based on my experience I would suggest avoiding. The apartments are underground, so with windows opening below street level. The apartment I saw was dark, damp, and offered no privacy (people going into and out of their apartments can see into your living area). When I arrived, there were exactly three pieces of toilet paper in the apartment, and it was a Saturday night so all stores were closed. And after my (expensive) rental, the manager stuck me with a surcharge. He also insisted we cart away every bit of recycling (a few plastic containers and a few glass bottles), even though the apartment is cleaned afterwards. Strongly suggest avoiding. read more
