Unfortunately, I've dined here for the last time and if you continue reading you'll understand why. The appetizer (calamari) was fantastic and the service was great but everything went downhill from there. The entree I ordered was Oscar Turbot and it looked delightful on the plate but when I took a bite, I was overcome with the odor and taste of ammonia as if the house cleaning chemical had been accidentally spilled in my plate. Thinking it was something with my taste buds, I took another bite and this time was nearly brought to tears because the ammonia sensation was so intense it nearly took my breath away. I (politely and professionally) alerted the server and manager because I felt they needed to know right away to safeguard other diners who might be ordering the same entree. Upon being notified they inquired if I would like the same dish or if I would prefer something else, to which I replied that I would like the Chilean sea bass seeing as how it was delicious the first time I had it. While I was waiting for my replacement entree, I did a Google search concerning what could be the cause of the ammonia taste and smell. My findings revealed that when seafood isn't fresh and begins to decompose, the ammonia being produced is a byproduct of the decomposition process. Needless to say, the thought of it turned my stomach. A few short moments later, my entree was promptly delivered by the manager and I informed him of my findings to which he replied it would be investigated immediately due to the health risks associated with decomposing seafood. I was anxious to cut into the Chilean sea bass but that proved to be quite impossible. Why? Because the outer layer of the sea bass was seared but it was entirely raw throughout. When I say raw, I mean it was still pink and fibrous and I had to use a knife to cut through it as if it were a porterhouse steak. I summoned the manager yet again and showed him what I had just been served and he couldn't believe his eyes. Of course, he was very apologetic and stated they would only charge me for the appetizer to which I replied there's no way in H-E double hockey sticks that I would be paying for anything because I'd be lucky if I didn't get sick. Some people might say I should give it another shot but when you've been food poisoned to the point that you need to be taken to the ER, you never want risk that happening again. I will admit that I have eaten here 3 times and didn't ever hate it. I do have to be critical, though. Their food is very mediocre. They use tricks like lots of butter and coatings to make their fish taste good. Like good steak, good seafood should stand on its own (with just a bit of seasoning). I would have given it three stars, but the price was too high for the lack of quality. Its tough to do seafood in the middle of the US, but it can be done well (a good chain is Roy's... try the one in Dallas). The service was very good. We were in the mood for seafood and looked up places we had never been to and saw that Bonefish Grill was on the list. We thought we would give it a shot even though it was a little far away. We were definitely underdressed since we didn't know what to expect, but the waitstaff did not treat us any differently. The restaurant had an intimate feel to it with ambient lighting. I loved the atmosphere! We went with the bacon wrapped scallops as our appetizer. The scallops were huge and made to perfection. The bacon was crispy and gave the whole dish a perfect crunch on the outside, but had a soft/light center on the inside. It came with chutney which my boyfriend loved. I chose the Ahi Tuna for my main dish and had high expectations at this point. Ahi tuna is my favorite dish and I try to order it at every restaurant so I can compare who has the best. I was actually disappointed when I tried Bonefish's Ahi Tuna. Presentation wise it was beautiful with a bright red center, but the sesame coating tasted strange. The sauce also did not compliment the tuna so I was unable to finish it. Even though I wasn't a fan of my entree, I still thought that everything else was great. I've only been to Tulsa a few times, but Bonefish Grill is probably my favorite restaurant in the area. Ambience - 4/5: Clean and elegant, but atmosphere seemed kind of pretentious for a fusion place. Service - 3/5: Felt like the server was bored. I get that working is boring, but your clientele shouldn't get that vibe from you no matter what your job is, especially since they're representing a formal atmosphere. Bang Bang Shrimp - 5/5: My coworkers are crazy about these. They're basically shrimp dynamite, but on lettuce instead of the usual rice so it's a bit lighter and less carby. Also has an advantage over other dynamite dishes in that it had a satisfying crunch. Wagyu Potstickers - 4/5: Comes with some crunchy garnish. Pretty satisfying/tasty. Probably the only potsticker I've ever had that wasn't dependent on a good sauce. But at the end of the day, they are just potstickers so nothing to write home about. Ahi Steak - 4/5: Ordered it with the Asian sauce and it was delicious, but tiny. I'd eat there again. read more

I've always enjoyed crab, lobster and shrimp!  After 45 years I developed a shellfish allergy.  UGH.  We decided to go to Bonefish anyway!  I asked our waiter for menu suggestions.  He picked the most expensive items.  I rephrased that I was looking for suggestions based on client favorites.  He pointed out the stars on the menu noting those are the house favorites and suggested the bang-bang shrimp.  Still not exactly answering what I asked and I didn't explain the allergy situation so we requested more time to look.  Everything on the menu sounded delicious but I had to order carefully.  I decided to try the Pecan Parmesan crusted Rainbow Trout, with garlic whipped potatoes and scalloped potatoes.  My bf ordered the steak, light pink, and crab cake with the same sides as my mine. Let's go carbs!! I couldn't really taste any pecan but the crust was good and the fish was cooked perfectly.  My bf said the edges of his steak were a little too well done but the majority of it was cooked to his liking and the flavor was desirable.  I wouldn't say we received bad service but I wouldn't say it was the service you would expect at this price point.  Our waiter seemed to be occupied with other tables often and only seemed interested in really connecting with us when he presented the check.  Also, I noticed the happy hour promo on our table only after we had ordered.  I really wish the waiter would have pointed it out when we were initially asking questions.  We could have enjoyed some of those items too. read more

This was my first time here! Went here with family for my moms birthday. It was amazing! Our waitress was Bailey and she was fabulous! Ryan also walked by regularly and interacted with tables. The martinis were absolutely delish! Can't go wrong with Chardonnay as well. Margarita we're awesome, keep drinking them until you notice tour leaning glass The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the Tiki punch. It tasted like straight syrup. We ordered mussels and Shrimp as an appetizer. I personally don't eat mussels, but they were all gone in a matter of minutes. The shrimp was AMAZING! I ordered the lobster and crab cake with mashed potatoes and jasmine rice, which was delightful! I had to tell my husband to stop picking at my plate! He got the gnocchi dish which was the best gnocchi we've ever had. My mom got the ahi tuna I believe from the appetizer list. My mother in law ordered steak and it was just right! They usually give out chocolate strawberries for birthdays, but they were out. Instead they gave us a free dessert of my moms choosing. Of course we ordered cheesecake! I'm only giving them a 2 because the hostess, sangria nd the waiter was very nice. The decor was awesome and a bit upscale so I had high expectations about the food. But I was wrong. I ordered the pan fried trout and my guest order the cod. Both fishes was very dry and they came with "seasoned vegetables" which turned out to be green beans only that wasn't even blanched. My rice was undercooked as well. For a seafood restaurant, my chowder was extremely runny be it too much water or milk. On top of all this, it seemed that nothing had seasoning. For this meal to cost nearly $100's it should have tasted a lot better. Needless to say I will not be back. read more

I went to Bonefish Grill "reluctantly" with family members. I have to say, I totally lost my taste for all kinds of fish and seafood in high school. My family knew this and told me Bonefish Grill had other non-fish items. I thought, well great. I'd be getting the customary burger and fries normally found at most seafood restaurants. Wow...was I wrong. Bonefish Grill had a good variety of steak, as well as pork and chicken. I ended up ordering the 6oz filet mignon with garlic whipped potatoes and French green beans. YUM! This had to be one of the best filet mignon steaks I ever had! The garlic whipped potatoes was excellent too...not too garlicky. The French green beans tasted like they were picked from the garden that day. The waiter and service overall were excellent. For all of you non-seafood folks...you don't have to cringe or come to the Bonefish Grill "kicking and screaming" because it's a seafood restaurant. I highly recommend it. A few years ago this restaurant was one of our favorites. Over the years the quality of the food has gone down hill (while the prices have increased) and the service just isn't what it used to be. When bonefish first opened its doors eating there was an experience. The food, the service, and the ambiance all made for an enjoyable and special evening. The past two times we've been to our local restaurant the food has been less than our past experience dictated and the service was lacking. Tonight's experience will most likely be our last. We sat at the bar for happy hour and the bartender (although very nice) was extremely inattentive. We were the only people at the bar and we had to contend with him talking to his coworkers and checking his phone while we went without water or other basic services. The food was just ok and definitely not worth the prices we were charged. I explained to the bartender that I had a gluten allergy and to please let the chef know. When they brought out my green beans they served them on the plate with my husband's beef sliders literally touching the bun. We had to ask the bartender to please make a new batch of green beans because they had been cross-contaminated. Although he was polite and did so, it is scary to think that I specifically informed the bartender of my allergy and my food was still cross-contaminated. Overall I give this restaurant 2 stars for food and service. read more

I ordered a sirloin steak with mashed potatoes with a rice dish. My appetizer was calamari. Good news bad news. Bad news first. My calamari was so salty. I was so looking forward to calamari but it was to salty to eat. The sauce was awesome. Very sweet and helped with the salty. After I swallowed the calamary I still had salt crystals in my teeth. I was very disappointed. Good news.... My sirloin steak was cooked to perfection. So easy to cut through and tasted so good. Very well seasoned. Not salty at all. The sides were also perfect. Mashed potatoes and one of the best rice dishes I have ever had. If it wasn't for the abundance of salt on the calamari, it would have been a perfect meal. read more

Started off in the bar area while waiting for a table, the drinks were pretty good and the waitress brought us our round of drinks to our table. She closed us out and tabbed us out from our new spot. Once at our table, this is where things turned south. First I asked what the catch of the day was, and was told it was today's special. It got kind of awkward because our entire table just looked at her, and it was like she did not know them. We proceeded to order apps (still not knowing the specials or catch of the day) and she went to put in our app order. For apps we ordered the crab cakes, bang bang shrimp, and pot stickers. The apps were probably the best part of our meal. I ordered the Alaskan Cod and the fish was not very good, but the lump crab butter sauce on top was amazing. I upgraded to the asparagus, which was a 3.50 up charge, and it came with 5 tiny pieces of asparagus, which seems to be canned and overcooked. The rest of my party was also unimpressed with their fish entrees. At the end of our meal, a person in our party accidentally spilled water off the edge of the table, so we called over a staff member to make sure no one slipped, they did not even say a word, just walked away to get a towel, came back to clean it, then walked away. We went on a late Saturday afternoon. There were only 4 tables that were occupied. The hostess proceeded to sit us at a table with children that were climbing the seats. I asked that we move to another table (two older adults). She stated that she needed to see if there was another option. Are you kidding me? There are only 4 tables occupied. Our waiter immediately comes over and takes our order. We wait, we wait. Finally the order comes out and I was astonished at the plates. Very bland looking. My husband ordered crusted pecan cod with a dollop of rice and potatoes. It was very blah looking. I ordered shrimp and scallops with potatoes au gratin and green beans. The shrimp and green beans were great. The potatoes used to be in a separate dish, but these were in a lump on the plate and I can tell you that they were frozen. Nothing like what they used to serve. I actually bought these same potatoes from Sam's Club. The scallops were not done. The waiter never came back until our check. At that point, I took them home and cooked them. It was very disappointing as this was "date" for two older people. It will be a long long while, if ever, we go here. read more

Tulsa Daycation 2012 Review My sister and her hubs loved this seafood joint when they lived outside Nashville, and seeing as how it was just a few minutes from our hotel, we decided this was the thing to do. I hovered on giving this a four, but then again, I'm not sure I would go back if given a different local option, so in my book that's a three. We had a reservation, but had to wait for our table. That's fine, but when they took us to our table the bench seat was visibly greasy (more on grease later). There were a few nice, empty booths on the far side of the restaurant that would have been much quieter, nicer and more private. We were seated directly by the door, where it was loud and bustling - not exactly relaxing. As a rule of thumb, when people take the extra time to make a reservation and arrive at the appropriate time, don't seat them near the front door, restroom, or right outside the kitchen (unless it's a badass open kitchen or a chef's table!). The drinks were a solid four: I had a martini that tasted like a not-too-sweet peach bellini and that was great. They also had Merryvale Starmont on the menu, one of my favorite affordable whites, and we split a bottle of that between the four of us. The food was a 3. I really enjoyed the house salad, especially the house vinaigrette. My sister and I split the shrimp and scallop dish with green beans and jasmine rice. I'm just not sure why the fish was so greasy. Shrimp and scallops should not be greasy. They should be grilled or broiled, or even pan-seared, there is no reason for them to be oozing oil. The green beans were the same - while they had no reason to be greasy they were. I ordered fresh fish because I want the taste of fresh fish, not a blanket of homogenous grease. Is that a chain thing? Creme brûlée for desert was delicious, and the bite of Chilean Sea Bass I had was really excellent, so maybe I just ordered wrong? In any case, again, not bad, but not necessarily at the top of my list in a town with so many great restaurants. read more
