Luigi Crespo is pure genius. I am a still relatively new to the pin up world and Luigi is such a wonderful person to work with. Notice how I didn't say photographer? That's because as a person, he is awesome- honest and hardworking. We've all heard the story of a bad experience with a photographer. But from the moment Luigi and I met, he immediately was the kindest and most fun photographer I've had the pleasure of working with. Throw in some insane talent- and you've got Capitol Bombshell. I first met Luigi at a photo shoot for his look book. A casting notice was sent and I was lucky enough to be chosen to attend. Our interaction was brief, because I was one of ten girls being photographed that day. But I had so much fun in that small session, I just knew I had to go back. Fast forward about a month, and there I was, on my way back to CB. Despite having done photo shoots before, I was still nervous. My advice? Don't be! Luigi and his amazing wife/assistant Annesses (aka my hero) take care of you from beginning to end. First, we talked about wardrobe and went over outfits. Luigi has an incredible collection of retro and boudoir pieces, including an awesome collection of shoes, jewelry, props and sets. He can make just about any theme or idea you want happen. Once we settled on clothes, I was whisked away to hair and makeup. Cue the beauty salon montage! I was fortunate to have Jordan herself of Jordan K. Winn & Co. - the hair and makeup extraordinaires. She is an absolute doll and very talented to boot. How I wish she could do my makeup everyday! Capitol Bombshell provides a private dressing room, so changing in and out of my outfits was very comfortable. And any issues I had with wardrobe (buttons, garters, zippers) Annesses helped me with right away. She also stayed on set to help with anything else. The actual shooting process went by so fast- I didn't even notice that I was hungry! But they've even got that covered too with snacks and water always available. While shooting- Luigi is a great director. I was nervous that I sometimes wouldn't know how to pose or hold a prop, but he's got a great eye for what comes out perfect in photos. Once or twice I'd hold a pose and think- this must look so silly. But believe me- I almost didn't recognize myself in the photos. He's that good. I had such a wonderful time, that it almost felt like leaving camp on the last day of summer. I will certainly be back as soon as I can, and in the meantime, I'll ogle my own photos. I get to write the first review? Do my eyes deceive? Capitol Bombshell is the place to go for boudoir/pin-up photos. I'm a very conservative type of person and thought going to CB would be a fun experience. It was indeed a treat and they have a lot of props and different types of clothing for you, should you find yourself out of ideas or lacking in your own closet (like me). The photography and make-up/hair (courtesy of Jordan K. Winn) is top notch. I was very apprehensive about my 'photo shoot.' I usually wear a small amount of make-up and this, to me, requires a TON more. I'm always shy/apprehensive about showing my face in public when I get my make-up professionally done, but everything is done so tastefully. CB has different types of packages to suit your needs and with it comes a photo book. Depending on what you want, CB has various sized books/albums to purchase. My best friend was searching for a way to celebrate her 30th birthday - something different..something out of the box that she would never do. And she stumbled upon Luigi and Capitol Bombshell. She raved about how easy it was to communicate with Luigi - about all of the wonderful aspects of the photo packages and how she was SOLD! In almost 15 years of friendship I have never seen her so excited by something she knew nothing about. This is a testament to Luigi - he is SO incredibly personable, welcoming and able to make you feel comfortable. For this specialty of photo - pinup and boudoir - you really need someone like that. I tagged along to the shoot - when I arrived she was getting her makeup and hair done. The photo shoot is actually in a home - I was a little lost when I pulled into the court because I was imagining some sort of empty warehouse (a la N'Sync "Tearing Up My Heart"...don't judge me). I think this is another plus - you feel right at home when you come in and I really think this helps you RELAX and come out of your shell! Luigi and his wonderful wife were outstanding - even though I wasn't getting any photos done, they allowed me to feel like a part of the experience and they took SUCH wonderful care of my friend. Watching them dote over her was amazing - she looked and FELT like a real model! The photo process was incredibly fun and exciting. Luigi and his wife set the mood with my friend's favorite Spanish music and gave her instruction on posing. From there, it was nothing but FUN. Not only is Luigi FANTASTIC as a person and coach, he is such a talented photographer. The photos he took of my friend - FANTASTIC. She looked radiant. All in all, I highly recommend this company and cannot say enough good things about the business they are running. Luigi of CB is the consummate professional. He is so talented, funny and easy going. We talked about my session in advance and he encouraged me to bring some things of my own. We ended up doing three scenes - one with my hunt/riding attire for a unique, equestrian-inspired set, another with my cherry dress I just love. And then he had me squeeze into a glamorous dress and gloves from the studio wardrobe, which we accented with my great-grandmother's mink. It was incredible how easily he worked my own things, which he hadn't seen before the day of our session, into each scene. And when I look back at the photos, they mean even more to me. I had been researching boudoir photo sessions in the DC area for a couple of months and was having a really hard time finding a place that didn't cost me thousands of dollars. I had initially settled with another company that would give me 20% off if I did it with a friend who bailed on me a week before! Luckily I did more research in a hurry and stumbled upon Capitol Bombshell. The previous company that I had booked two months in advance was going to charge me the same price for way less and never took the time to call and discuss what I wanted out of my session or what my plans were - and the photographer hardly answered any of my questions when I emailed her. I was having issues booking online with Capitol Bombshell so I called immediately because thy happened to have a slot open when I needed it a week before still and spoke to Luigi (the photographer) directly and discussed what my plans were and what I wanted out of the shoot. He was so welcoming and made me feel very comfortable from the start which made me decide to book on the spot and pay half of the retainer - even though I was nervous about being in front of a male photographer. Luigi was very accommodating and very understanding and didn't seemed annoyed or frustrated at all while I seriously struggled to warm up to the camera. My photos came out great and everything was ready and processed less than 2 weeks. The only regret I have is not getting a bigger book. I'll definitely recommend them to all of my friends. Two years ago, I decided to take the plunge. Get back into modeling. I was a former model in my younger days. And having current modeling photos to your portfolio is crucial.
