According to staff here, Bicycle Boutique is one of only two places in Manchester which does cycle hire and you can have a good look at their hire fleet which is chained up outside the front of the shop on the edge of the plaza in front of the Sudgen Sports Centre. If you are reading this as a tourist planning a visit to Manchester, definitely consider hiring a bike for the day as there are some great traffic-free routes on canal paths, in parks and also the Fallowfield Loop cycle path - to name just a few. Piccadilly to Chorlton (on the Ashton Canal and Fallowfield Loop) with a short detour to Gorton Reservoir I can personally recommend. Pick up a Manchester cycle routes map from the Visitor Information Centre in Piccadilly. Repairs and resprays seem to be emphasised at Bicycle Boutique, and the workshop has always been busy when I've looked in. Other than that, it's a small bike shop. Personally, I always try to have repairs and servicing done by the bike shop nearest to home (Lancashire), allowing me to drop in for quick fixes or easily drop off/collect when it's not a while-you-wait repair. This cycle shop could be handiest for you, especially if you are a student, and all you really need - so give it a look.

They have a wide selection of bikes for sale from Orange, Cube, Scott, and Merida and with trails on the doorstep you can normally arrange to try before you buy. The staff are helpful and knowledgeable and will make sure you get what you want not what they need to shift. They have a workshop and good mechanic if you manage to break your bike whilst out on the trails and the service prices are reasonable and comprehensive.

The red route is sufficiently challenging for a couple of loops if you've got a spare few hours. The trails hold up well even in the bad weather which is great when the local trails are too muddy to ride. The cafe is great for a post ride meal - especially the burger. Apparently they serve the best breakfast in Wales..... Car park is £3 which goes towards the upkeep of the forest and trails. Definitely a great trail centre for beginners through to seasoned riders.

It is located at the back of Brimlow's Garage in Poulton. Really worth seeking out and paying a visit. This fabulous walking and cycling route follows the old railway line and is looked after by Sustrans (a transport charity) for everyone. Along the Loop Line trail, there are many different but valuable habitats worth looking out for, such as woodlands and wetland habitats. The open grasslands and grass verges along the trail are an important home and feeding place for many species of birds, mammals and insects which depend on the mix of foliage.
