I been seeing alot of cheese spreading around recently in SF and on my social media feed. There are lots of cheese spreading at new pizzerias in SF. Now there are lots of new cheese spreading at bagel shops in SF. There is one place which has now three locations and known for its quality bagels and even has vegetarian options with vegan cream cheese. For the carnivore there is pastrami at this location. These bagels here can be savory and some are very salty like some you will encounter in SF. Where you can find these bagels is at Boichik on Fillmore street. On a Spring stroll on Fillmore street I ran into a familiar Boichik bagel store in the city of San Francisco. This location is more spacious inside than their Battery street location. There is so much spreads to choose from like the lox spread , Horseradish Cheddar Scallion and even Nutella. You can also choose bagels from the sweet cinnamon raisin to the salt bagel like some in SF. I got the plain bagel with the green garlic and herb spread. The bagel was soft and the cheese spread was just like I expected creamy and savory. Overall it was delicious. I wash it down with a Dr. Browns ( Not Dr. Pepper)black cherry soda. This is the spot to grab a bagel with some tasty schmear on Fillmore street. Not New York Bagels, but still a solid effort. My order though was via Too Good To Go. Received an alert via TGTG that orders were available so after double Checking the pickup window, I opted for an order, and quickly left to pick up a bag of bagels. Easy ride to the store, and parked on Pine Street knowing I would be in and out within a minute. Staff were pleasant, and my 1/2 dozen bagels already bagged for pickup. first time trying boichik and i was not disappointed! the salt bagel was perfectly toasted while being so chewy on the inside. i do wish there was more lox in the lox spread. i also tried the classic and pumpernickel & salt bagels each with different spreads/toppings. everything was amazing, great flavors and textures! the cream cheese was so smooth and velvety -- extremely enjoyable. service was friendly. there's no spots to eat your bagels, it's a grab and go situation. i'll definitely be back and highly recommend! read more

This Boichik has matcha now!! I got an iced matcha latte sweetened with vanilla and with whole milk - it was really nice matcha / milk ratio, and lightly sweet. I prefer getting the bagels extra toasted so there's a little bit of crunch. read more

Absolutely incredible experience at Boichik Bagels. The bagel was truly the most delicious bagel I've ever had -- made exactly how I would have ordered it, and somehow even better. The texture and flavor were perfect. What really stood out was the service. Everyone was genuinely friendly and welcoming. Even when I was doing my usual "can I get the lightest-colored one?" request, the woman helping me was so kind about it and didn't make it awkward at all. She just smiled and mentioned that someone else asks for the same thing. That small moment really made the experience feel personal and comfortable. Eek, longggg overdue review here. Boichik Bagels is absolutely worth the stop. I've always enjoyed them during my Berkeley days. It's consistently excellent. The bagels have that perfect balance - crisp on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside and you can tell they really care about quality. Even when there's a line, it moves quickly and the staff always feels warm and efficient. The lox bagel is my go-to and never disappoints. The salmon is silky and generous, the cream cheese is rich without being overwhelming, and everything just tastes incredibly fresh. Boichik bagels has been on my list of places to try for awhile now! Heard many great things from friends. Tried the classic everything bagel with lox, which was sooo good. I would only give this a 4/5 because I'm not a fan of heavy cream cheese on my bagels (I know, unpopular opinion), otherwise if you love a generous amount of cream cheese this place is definitely for you. Also tried the whitefish salad on an everything bagel and I would say it was just okay. Didn't have too much flavor or anything that stood out, so probably wouldn't get that one again. Stopped by on a Saturday morning and there was no line, and I had my food within 5 minutes of ordering. I went with a custom everything bagel with egg salad. Both were incredibly fresh and made for a very satisfying meal. The shop has a lovely, open atmosphere where you can watch the bagel making process. This does seem like a takeout spot as there isn't really any dining space. It is a bit pricey, but given the quality and freshness, it felt well worth it. Great bagel spot in general. read more

Was talking to Japantown on a weekend in SF and got hungry. Decided to stop by the bagel place that was near me and was intrigued by the smell. It feels like a small cafe with some seats (surprisingly) in the back. the front of the store doesn't have any seats, and is mainly for grab n go folks. Like us. We grabbed then left. But, I did get a chance to see the seating area inside. You pay by item- meaning, construct you bagel, and pay for the bagel, cheese, filling, etc. separately. I like the way they did it. Now for the bagel. The lox was pretty good, solid and did not disappoint. the cream cheese (I got the chile one) was also pretty good. Felt solid but not particularly special. The Eggything bagel was pretty good, but one problem I had was I wished they toasted it longer- the thiccness of the bagel made it rather hard to chew at some time because it wasn't toasty enough. Would recommend to a bagel lover :) It was overall onpar with other bagels I've had, not quite at the level of the golden NYC bagel places though. read more

All the textures and chew of each Boichik bagel that I've had is just perfection to me, right from the initial bite that transitions from the subtle piercing of the outer shell that parts ways to reveal the chewy goodness inside.. 10/10.. My usual pick here are the poppyseed bagels with a topping of cream cheese. I love that 95% of the poppyseeds STAY ON the bagel unlike most other places. They slice and toast your bagels on request at no extra charge. The 8oz serving of cream cheese is the best value compared to a single application which is $2-2.50 per bagel. The menu here is relatively simple with just a few choices. That to me seems to indicate that they are very good at what they do, and try not to be everything to everyone.. I work nearby so I like to pop in when I get hungry in the morning. My go to is the scallion cream cheese and an everything bagel. I also like trying their rotating menu. I have yet to try the loks bagel because I usually prefer something simple but maybe one day. It's casual and mostly a take out spot. There is a menu posted at the front of the restaurant and then a line will queue up as you walk in. There is also a menu at the register. The bagels are amazing here! I was pleasantly surprised by their speed and consistency. They were just as good as the Sacramento Street location nearby. The quality was spot on, and they loaded up the cream cheese so generously I was in heaven. My go-to is the eggything bagel, toasted with cream cheese, and let's just say I always need extra napkins. That tells you two things: I'm a bit messy, and they truly respect the schmear. My second favorite bagel here is the garlic so far. They use a lot of garlic, and you can tell they don't skimp out. I plan to try all of their bagels over time, and I just found out they have egg salad, so I will have to try them again for that! If they don't sell out early, expect lines at peak hours, but the crew keeps everything moving. I hope they add a reward system via an app soon. That would take it to the next level. The bagels here are chewy and enjoyable! As an East Coaster, I will stand by the fact that NY bagels are superior to the ones here in California -- but Boichik is one of the better that I've tried out here. I like their whitefish salad, and also just enjoy the pumperthingle bagel on its own with some cream cheese. There are menus posted outdoors, as well as indoors, and you can essentially build your own bagel with a selection of bagel types, cream cheeses, and additional ad ins like lox. Walk in and order near the back end of the counter. This part of the space is more rectangular with not too much space, but the orders are prepared quickly. Go further into the back and it opens up into an outdoor dining space which is really nice. The garlic bagel was very fresh with big chunks of garlic baked into the dough. Texture was soft yet also firm. Got this bagel with cream cheese, which was generously loaded on making it well worth the more premium cost that the bagel is. read more

Have been here a few times now since moving to Marin. The bagels are really good, big enough, and fresh tasting. We love the build your bagel sando option, and the produce options for the bagel are all solid- tomatoes, capers, daikon radish, and more. Also, huge plus that they have 2 kinds of vegan cream cheese. I do wish they had coffee, but with Equator next for I understand why they don't. We walked in on a Tuesday mid morning and there was no wait. The staff were unbelievably helpful and courteous. They let me try the salads and helped with building my sandwiches before placing an order. As you can see the bagels are big and have such an amazing texture and taste. The best I've tasted in the Bay so far. My only note is the menu is limited and after half a bagel the fillings became a bit one note. We each ate half and couldn't imagine eating a whole (especially the white fish one). I paid and provided my name. Less than a few minutes my bagel was ready. I took it home. Plated it. Pros: * good size * dense * the everything seeds all remained on the bagel on every bite I took. They were out of many types already, so if you want the most variety of options definitely go earlier in the morning (bagels will be fresher too!) I got a pumpernickel bagel with the sundried tomato pesto cream cheese, which is a seasonal flavor. It honestly tasted a bit like pizza. The bagel had good texture and had a generous amount of cream cheese. but it was overall pretty cold sadly. Would definitely recommend getting toasted if you like warm bagels. We recently tried Boichik Bagels, came by right at opening so we could get the freshest bagel possible. My partner and I tried a couple of bagels: Salt & Pepper (not toasted) with the horseradish cheddar cream cheese and the Salt Bagel (toasted) with the hatch chile cream cheese. When first opening up, I have to give to them, they are very generous with the cream cheese, which I appreciate. A lot of bagel spots in the Bay are skimpy with the cream cheese, not here though. My partner is the opposite and doesn't like a lot of cream cheese, so if you are in that boat, I'd ask for a little bit less than normal cream cheese. Between the two bagels, I preferred the salt over the s&p. I think the pepper was the overpowering flavor and took away from the bagel, so going with Salt would be my preference. I thought both cream cheeses were tasting, can't go wrong with either IMO. Boichik's bagel I've had a couple of times because my parents love em and get them all the time. I think you like a denser bagel, boichik does that well. For me I prefer mine a lot softer, fluffier, and hot out the oven so it doesn't need a toast. I thought going early in the morning the bagels would still be hot, but that wasn't the case. Still a good bagel, just not my preferred bagel type. The location for this spot is great considering on Fillmore there's not a lot of options when it comes to a quality quick breakfast options, so a welcome addition to the neighborhood, I can see why there's usually a line. read more

I got an Everything with Hatch Chile spread- so good (I would've like more chiles though). Super friendly, expedient service.
