Renting a car during vacations is not new to me, and I have been more than satisfied in almost all instances. The experience of renting a car this time was a shocker. When I reserved the car on Orbitz, I assume that rental cars from a reputable company like "Dollar - Hertz" assures me of a certain standard. I am completely mistaken. The car that I got is a Honda City with more than 74,000 kilometers on the odometer. Scratches and dents are on all four sides of the car. Both fog lights are broken. The right tail light cover is also broken. The floor mats were all tattered and the wipers must have been there for years and not changed. The wipers squeak with every turn. With the high odometer reading and poor condition of the car from the outside, I was concerned about the reliability of the car and asked for an emergency number in case the car breaks down. The person who delivered the car reacted like it was the first time he has heard of such a request. I am not sure if Hertz is aware of the fact that the cars rented out by their authorized licensee - Hertz Philippines (Exclusive Cars Internationals Holdings, Inc.) are in such poor shape as I have described. The person who delivered the car behaved like it was all normal and even proudly point out all the scratches and dents. I write this review with the hope that Hertz brand will look into the quality of their licensees. I believe Hertz still cares about their brand name.
