I'm truly at a lack of words. Can't even start to describe how this Planet Fitness location in…read moreLynwood, Ca has deteriorated. 6 machines that are not working, paint peeling of the walls, floor mats lifting. As it is this location lacks equipment and 6 machines not working is completely unacceptable. There is no sense of urgency at all to be proactive to get all these items fixed. Also when you try to use the restroom. They lack toilet paper or hand soap. This location is going down hill very quickly.

Don't recommend you sign up, at least at this location. Planet Fitness promotes a "Judgment Free…read moreZone," yet this location chose to ban a member while overlooking clear staff misconduct. An employee retrieving a discarded note from the trash, writing a response, and leaving it in the gym environment is not professional conduct--it is provocation. To dismiss that behavior and instead label the member's reaction as "rude" demonstrates selective enforcement. This is not consistent with the values your brand claims to uphold. What occurred was not the removal of intimidation--it was the protection of an employee's unprofessional actions at the expense of a paying member. That is not judgment free; it is hypocrisy. Staff put on a facade. Eye rolls, sighs, or outright ignoring tasks that aren't convenient are common. Staff often quietly judge or talk about certain members once they think no one is listening. Complaints, gossip, and petty enforcement are routine, while bigger issues are ignored. Favoritism toward certain members is evident, and the focus is clearly more on cheap memberships and numbers than on member experience. Hygiene is a serious concern: some people don't wash their hands after using the bathroom before touching dumbbells, machines, or even the water fountain; hair is often left in sinks and showers; and soap dispensers are frequently empty or not working. The air always feels damp, heavy, and unclean, no matter how much cheap spray is used to cover it up. All of this stands in direct contrast to the message plastered on the wall, which promises a "diverse, judgment-free zone where a lasting, active lifestyle can be built," a "safe, energetic environment where everyone feels accepted and respected," and claims the gym is "a tool that can be used by anyone." The reality at this location completely contradicts that statement, exposing the gap between advertised values and actual practice. You guys responded with a generic email that reads as if you actually care about members--but your "customer service" is so bad that the response is meaningless. It's performative, empty, and shows that you're more concerned with looking like you're handling a complaint than actually fixing the problem.

That's completely false. There are several restrooms and I've never had to wait. The overall aesthetic of this place is top tier. The equipment is high quality, well maintained, and there's plenty of space to train. The gym is split into two sides and now they even have MAD Pilates, which is a great addition. So far, I haven't had to wait for equipment once. Even when it's busy, I've still been able to get a full workout in without issues. That's a huge difference compared to the gym up the street (Chuze), where you'll often see groups of people camping on the same machine. On weekends I come right when the doors open and it's about as empty as it gets. Perfect way to start the day. One warning though: don't try the peanut butter and jelly shake... unless you want to get hooked. It's that good. The turkey wrap is also a solid option. The staff has been amazing and welcoming since day one. Overall experience so far: 10/10. Highly recommended

The heater being on full blast in the mornings makes it really uncomfortable to work out. The fans are not on, so there's no relief when the heat is running. I mean really how cold can it get in SoCal where the heater needs to be on full blast Also, it would really help if staff wore something identifiable, like a uniform shirt. There have been a few times I wanted to purchase a protein shake, but I couldn't tell who worked there or who to ask for help. Lastly, there have been times when there were no wipes available to clean the machines. Overall, still a great gym, just a few small improvements that would make a big difference! They promoted a fun full of energy and environment and promise me one free month with no commitment. It was part of a weight loss challenge. I didn't realize that I started the second week of the competition so once the competition was over they tried to charge me for my forth week, even though they promised me 1 month free. I am a huge fan of Herbalife I have been using their product for a little over five years now. The girl that signed me up "Robin" really trying to get me to buy Herbalife from her and even though I explain that I already have a membership in which I receive 50% off the product she try to guilt trip me into purchasing Herbalife from her explaining that that's her only form of income. I sympathize with her but explained that I still would not buy Herbalife from her. She became a little more distance and really didn't care about my progress anymore. This business became more more clear to me as a pyramid scheme. Which is illegal in the United States by the way. They want you to go in there and sign up to be your own Herbalife distributor and if you refuse they won't "waste" their time with you. They're polite so they won't tell you but you'll feel the shade. And though act as if you don't want to be "fit" or "healthy" anymore. Another thing that I disliked about this business was the fact that they record and publish everything they rely a lot on social media.

I had a very uncomfortable experience at the Planet Fitness on Lakewood Blvd. My interaction with…read moreIzabel S. left me feeling singled out and unfairly treated. I was told I had to take a photo for their files, but the process was not clearly explained to me, and I was not given any information about how the image would be stored, used, or protected. When I asked questions, I did not feel like my concerns were taken seriously. The entire situation made me feel racially profiled. Being pressured to take a picture without transparency about its purpose felt invasive and unnecessary. Given the location and the overall environment, I unfortunately wasn't surprised by how the situation was handled -- but that doesn't make it acceptable. Being made to feel uncomfortable, especially during Black History Month, over something that should have been handled respectfully and professionally, was disappointing. I joined expecting a welcoming and judgment-free atmosphere, but this experience did not reflect that at all. I hope management takes concerns like this seriously and ensures staff are trained to communicate policies clearly and treat every member with dignity and respect. Response: Respectfully, the burden should not be on me to reach out again. As a business, management should have taken the initiative to contact me directly after such a serious concern was raised. Simply asking me to come back and speak with management does not address the discomfort and distrust that was created. I do not feel comfortable reaching out to management at this location. Based on my experience, it appears that employees are not consistently applying policy but instead acting on personal discretion. When someone has been coming to your establishment for over six months without issue, suddenly being pressured to have their image stored without a clear explanation of the policy, data use, or privacy protections is unacceptable. There was no transparency about why the photo was required, how it would be stored, or how my privacy would be safeguarded. That is a legitimate concern. If this is truly a company-wide policy, it should be communicated clearly and applied consistently -- not selectively. It is also my belief that Izabel handled the situation in an unprofessional manner. On multiple occasions I have observed her disengaged at the front desk, turned away while talking with other employees rather than assisting members. The way this interaction was handled felt targeted and unnecessary. If Planet Fitness truly strives to provide a welcoming and judgment-free environment, that standard must be reflected in action -- not just in a templated response. I would expect corporate leadership, not just local management, to review this matter seriously.
