The crowd outside is obviously very young and hip. The owner is a very nice guy and he played the guitar for me after I asked. They have good wifi and decent tea. And he speaks English so I could ask some information. His brother is also very nice. A wonderful encounter with music lover and humble people. A must stop by on your trip in this area.

So when we stumble upon this little gem, we immediately stopped for a good pick me up string and thick home made Turkish coffee!! It cost 7.5L and we sat in the mini chairs and table which was super cool. They also gave mats and pillows in the stairs. Many locals were siting next to us enjoying their afternoon coffee. The service was excellent. A lady was making the coffee and 2 younger guys were also helping. They also had friendly traditional Turkish music playing. Super fun atmosphere!! Would go back, love their dishes, super authentic and cute. You should try it!

3.5 stars: This restaurant was recommended to us by the concierge at the Four Season's at the…read moreBosphorus. We asked for a great place to dine, away from the never ending prolific and relentless smokers. So with that note; we walked into the restaurant to a full on display of fish on ice (and the strong smell of fish) and choking cigarette smoke. Of course there is no smoking in the restaurant, only on the terrace... the area with the beautiful views of the river. The problem is the windows are open between the terrace and restaurant so what is the point? Sitting in the restaurant, you still get the smoke but not the view. Aside from all of that.... the food was phenomenal and the service just excellent. We had an array of cold mezzas and then the local sea bass grilled. The service was stellar and we felt special being there. We were treated to a huge rain storm which made it all the more fun. Recommend a non smoking section on the terrace and then it would be five stars.

Well it is not easy to rate this place however I am a fan of Suda Kebap. OK let's start. I have…read morebeen at Suda kebap three times. My two experience were on summer times and you are fascinated with the location and the ambiance of the place. You take a short boat ride to small Galatasaray island from Kurucesme by their private boats so you do not have to pay. This short boat trip is already a nice start. When you arrive on the island the scenery and the ambiance attracts you before the food and you just start to think how lucky you are being in the middle of the Bosphorus viewing Europa and Asia and feel that you are the luckiest person in the world. The food was good, the staff members are friendly. We tried set menu since we wanted to taste from different meze plates and kebaps. Set menu includes different types of cold mezes, hot starters - small Turkish pizza, dolma, meat ball etc. different kebap types, desert and fruit with two glasses of drink. The food was sufficient and we were full. However at the end you have to pay for all these amenities but during summer time it really worth to pay that much money. Last time I went to Suada on a breezy day in spring time when its summer place has not been opened yet. We went there with a group of 15 people so we ordered set menu again. The service stuff were still friendly, the food was good. After all there are some issues that made me unhappy with. First the ambiance was totally different than its summer place and I felt like eating kebap at a factory, you don't feel that you are in the middle of two continents. Secondly, the service was too fast, although we warned them too be slow a bit but they didn't pay any attention. So we ate in a hurry and paid a lot without understanding anything from the food. I strongly recommend you to go there during summer time before the sun sets to view the scenery in between the two continents. This way you may not feel the pain while paying the bill. As a conclusion, the summer place is 5 stars, winter place is 3 stars and the average is 4 stars....

On our food tour of Istanbul, our guide (Yelp Istanbul CM Gulfem) took us to one such place for dinner - Iskender Kebab. Ask for a menu here (as we naïve tourists did) and they will just look at you and laugh. As the name suggests, the sole dish on the menu is the Iskender kebab - a plate of sliced grilled meat served on a flat spongy bread and doused in melted butter. It's not healthy by any means - in fact it's about as far from it as you can get - but the taste is spectacular. And for about 30TL (£10) including a drink, you can't really ask for a better deal. The meat was tender yet had a good sear with just a hint of char. The spongy bread absorbed both the meat's juices and the melted butter with ease and may have been even tastier than the meat itself. I could have done without the tomato rice but the grilled mild chilli peppers were wonderful as were the refreshing chunks of tomato. Afterwards, for dessert there is this awesome little sorbet shop down the street with the freshest, juiciest sorbets you'll ever try. They make them in house and change the flavours based on whatever is seasonally available - it doesn't get much better than that!
