This was an old fishing village and is still very picturesque. There is a pebble beach and a few restaurants as well. Worth the trip take bus 42 from the piazza Ferrari. read more

Hotel Boccascena
(1 review)
Picking a hotel in Genoa was stressful. Picking something in the city center is convenient for all…read morethe sights, but there's also the risk of having your car broken into or other horror stories like valet parking losing your keys. Hotel Boccascena ended up being our choice as it was only a mile out and they had free parking. Overall for the price it was okay, but the smells were just killing me and my boyfriend. A night stay was good, but I don't know if longer would've been better. L O C A T I O N As I mentioned, the hotel is located not too far from the attractions like the Victory Gate/Plaza. If you're okay to walk a little 15-20 minutes depending on how fast you walk. You can easily access the city center. P A R K I N G They do have parking, but make sure you reserve a "spot." They can fit 11 cars REALLY snuggly. It's like a tetris of cars in there. The parking is gated and locked during the night so if you need to arrive late or early, you should also let them know. You'll also need to leave your keys at the front desk. I N T E R I O R After you get up a set of stairs, you'll get to the front desk. We were "lucky" we had a first floor room as I believe there wasn't really a lift/elevator to get to the other floors but I don't mind a good stair workout! They do have a dining area right in front of the check in desk. R O O M Our room had a nice large bed and looked like it was IKEA furnished. It also had its own heater/AC which was nice as it was cold. They had a fridge with free waters both still and sparkling which was nice. They had the standard Italian plug so you'll need to bring your own converter if you don't have a compatible plug. The bathroom was large but cold. The shower was a bit small and tight but had good running hot water. They had shampoo and soap. No conditioner. They had a bidet if you're into that. The only thing that was a down side was the smell of the room. It was like a mixture of smoke (even though it's non-smoking) and cleaning products which doesn't bode well with me as I am super sensitive to smells. W I F I Wifi was pretty good from our room. It was enough for me to do what I needed like browse the internet. S E R V I C E There were a few people that we encountered in our one night brief stay. Though everyone was very nice to us and made our stay enjoyable. They speak a little English, so that was helpful. B R E A K F A S T It was free from 7-10 am. It's a VERY small room so if you don't get down there in a busy season you won't have a spot. They had a small set of options from pastries including croissants, fruit cake, rolls, etc. and hard boiled eggs, cereal, etc. It wasn't extravagant, but it was enough for us to enjoy and well it's free so you can't really expect much! O V E R A L L It was a good spot to get to where we needed and great for a night. The price was pretty good for everything you got. If we were to have stayed longer, we may have asked for a different room due to the smells in ours, but other than that, not too shabby.
