Surprised this Richmond/Rosenberg staple doesn't have better reviews. I have been here many times over the last 10+ years, and have always been impressed with the quality & authentic Tex-Mex flavor. Normally come for breakfast, and I highly recommend trying their breakfast tacos. My personal favorite is the chorizo, egg & cheese. Their soft, homemade flour tortillas and hot sauce, really make the taco IMO. Bob's made from scratch pork tamales and cheese enchiladas are great options for lunch dishes. They must be doing something right to be in business for over 25 years. read more

I grew up in Galveston but I had relatives that lived here for decades so this is somewhere I always stop before I go see them. This place was always the one to get great food and pray they still had tamales left! I came here and ordered two tacos with bean potato and bacon. When I received my tacos I found tat-or tots in them. I called the waiter over and he said "sorry we ran out of potatoes! " This was around 9 am, and my husband had potatoes in his tacos. I'm not sure why they thought it was appropriately substitute tater tots for my potatoes! A week ago Saturday I was out early to get a haircut and decided to go to Bobs. I got there at about 7:00 and ordered my standard. Spanish omelette with bacon along with onions peppers tomatoes and cheese inside. Adding Ranchero sauce on top. It comes with two flour tortillas, potatoes and retried beans. I wish I had taken a picture for you all to see. It was a beautiful omelette. One of the hard parts of running any restaurant is staying consistent. I have noticed that bobs has improved in this area by controlling the number of tables and the quality and quantity of food. There is so much competition in rosenberg when it comes to Mexican food that it is easy to get lost in the crowd and find yourself serving low cost slop. Bobs is resisting the race to the bottom by giving a superior product. I must tell you I have been eating at bobs since the start and I also do Electric work there from time to time. We've been here several times over the years and have brought friends visiting from out of town. We really like the taste of the food. But this past Sunday, I found a hair in my Huevos Rancheros and the service was pitifully slow. Considering those two issues and looking around at the place, the dining room looked a lot less charming and just really dingy. I think there are better choices for texmex brunch. read more

I went to this place while visiting family in Texas, and loved it so much I made a return trip before we had to leave! The carne asada taco was absolutely fabulous, but my FAVORITE thing from bob's is without a doubt the BREAKFAST BURRITOS. I could eat a thousand of them,... no a million. Hell, I'd make a return flight to Texas JUST for those breakfast burritos. The way they top it with hot crispy bacon and wrap it in their delicious tortillas... Not impressed. I realize that I went an hour before closing, but for a place that was supposedly voted the "Best in Fort Bend" it was lacking on many levels. It was my first time, so I went with the traditional crispy taco plate. The taco shells were stale. The beans were cold. And, the rice was dry and crunchy. The place for locals to got some attention on tv and now they try to give you the locals only feeling with the over priced food. They even charge for chips and salsa? Really? Parking is terrible and hard to find a spot but hey they were on tv so they are getting away with it. Only worse then the parking is the service. You get better service at fast food restaurants. My favorite meal of the day is breakfast which my ritual is eating a huge omelet and beans. No potatoes or tortillas are needed for me. I stopped in to Bob's Tacos and even though the menu didn't have exactly my choice they were happy to serve it up just like I wanted it. This was a beast omelet with the most delicious charro beans a Mexican restaurant can serve. I'll be in town a few more days and this is where my breakfast will be eaten. The service was friendly and the wait was reasonable considering it's made to order. The coffee is delicious and since I drink it black, I was happy with the flavor. Ever since they were on DDD, it's not that good. You pay for chips and salsa. The breakfast tacos (which was featured on the show) are not fresh, meaning the eggs are pre-made, sitting in warm pans and then just scooped into your tortilla and it shows up in the taste. No Bueno! read more

If you like unsophisticated country or rustic mom and pop eateries Bobs will not disappoint. Portions are generous especially for breakfast. Pancakes are a bit thick and extremely large. Taqueria style Texmex dishes are really good and also substantial. We always stop here when we can. read more

High expectations and low delivery. Saw this place on DDD and decided to checkout out. The aesthetic is nice and charming and the signs posted that everything is made fresh was a good sign. The food arrived fairly quickly for a place claiming to make fresh food. I ordered a variety of items such as the carne guisada barbacoa taco and a plate which had a tamale. The items featured on DDD were ok but not blown away. The rice seemed it had been sitting for a while and the chicken fajitas I had ordered were dry and did not taste fresh at all. Refried beans tasted bland and reminded me of cafeteria lunch beans from grade school. Adding to the disappointment was the "spicy" green sauce that the waitress kept hinting at me. The side of lettuce given had more of a kick than the sauce. All in all it does have some decent food items but nothing I would say is worth a 45 mins drive to Rosenberg from Houston. read more

With a name like Bob's Taco Station, it almost sounds like a place where you'd stop not to fill up your car, but your gullet. And unless you actually live in Rosenberg, that's not far from the truth. We had planned to make a day, or at least a morning, of it out in Rosenberg, so after an early start and a 45 minute drive, Bob's made a great spot to fuel up. The area around Bob's on Ave H has that small town charm, and we must've looked like city folk when we walked in, given the heads on swivels as we walked through the door. I had a pearl snap on, but lacked boots, a knife clipped to my pocket, or a fish hook on my cap. We proved a passing interest though, and our waitress was perfectly friendly. While my tablemate went for the chilaquiles, I was on a taco quest. It was early, so I felt I needed to start with breakfast, and got the bacon, potato, and egg taco. Our waitress might've misheard me, as it was missing the bacon, or perhaps I should have called it the "John" taco as it states parenthetically on the menu. In any event, the homemade tortilla was delicious and the potato and eggs were fluffy, with a nice kick from the salsa brought to the table. There's a long list of tacos served all day, and the traditional savory Mexican options are where Bob's really shines. Once breakfast was out of the way, I moved on to a carne guisada and a barbacoa taco. The beef tips were tender in their guisada gravy, which was superb on its own - no extra condiments needed. The barbacoa was also rich and tender, topped with optional onion and cilantro, on the soft tortilla. I tried a few bites of the chilaquiles as well, and there was some mystery ingredient that really made them addictive, especially a bite combined with the sides of potatoes and refried beans. I really wish I could have tried everything on the menu, but alas, my tank was full. If you're out in Rosenberg, Bob's Taco Station is a must, and even if you're not, it's worth the drive. read more

the hype! the hype!!! the hype was damn right after all. after seeing bob's taco station on triple d (diners drive ins and dives), my friend peter and i just had to high-tail it over here. about 30 minutes out of my way out in rosenburg, sits bob's taco station. the inside is definitely what i expected. a smorgousboard of funny signs and unique decor. the funniest being a sign that proudly announces "everything here is made fresh, so if youre in a hurry, theres always mcdonalds and taco bell." that there sold me. we sat and chatted and ordered up a few items: huevos rancheros: OUT OF THIS WORLD! delicious, we ordered with barbacoa. though i wish there was more meat (come on, who doesnt want more barbacoa on everything?) the ratio was perfect. two eggs over easy slathered in a house salsa with barbacoa, potatoes, and beans, served with fresh flour tortillas. yum-o! the tacos, we tried a few tacos and the best would have to the chicharron guisado (excuse my hick spelling, im sure ive butchered that espanol.) the DEEP FRIED PORK BELLY (yes i had to use caps to describe the phenomenol flavor) was out of this world. overall amazing delicious and worth the wait (in your face taco bell) and i would come back here all the time, if only it was closer and it didnt make me feel like a complete awesome failure at dieting. read more

I sometimes go to Rosenberg to visit the used bookstore in town. One day, after browsing for treasures, I was looking for lunch and found Bob's Taco Station. The absolute best thing on the menu is the tamales. I don't even really LIKE tamales but these tamales!....wa wa woo! They're made fresh, they're flavorful, moist, and they are delicious. They usually have a selection of bean, beef, and pork tamales. There have been times where I've gone on a weekend and they've been completely sold out. Talk about disappointment! During the holidays, they offer a wider selection (chicken and spinach as well as the ones I previously mentioned) that you can order ahead of time to take away. It's a down-home kind of place with lots of casual local charm. I don't miss a visit when I'm in the Richmond/Rosenberg area. read more

While their salsa and tortillas were good, the rest was almost inedible. They were out of guacamole - a Mexican restaurant! My egg dish had obviously been reheated. It was one solid clump of egg. The nachos came with meat, beans, and a little cheese. Later someone dropped off a little plate of sour cream, lettuce, tomato and jalepenos. None of it really looked appetizing. read more

We saw Bob's on DDD several years ago, but never had the chance to go there. When we did, we were unbelievably impressed with the food. The salsa was great with fire roasted tomatoes, chilies, and onions. Best I ever had. Took some to go. We naturally tried the Carne Guisada tacos and the tamales that were featured on the show. Both were out of this world. Tamales were all great filling and very little masa. Took a dozen of these to go as well. We have been back twice in recent weeks and have invited fiends on repeat visits. We will go at least once/month even though it is an hour drive for us for us each way from the other side of Houston. Want to try everything on the menu, including breakfast. We met Bob and he is a great host - making sure everything was great. Service was great. This place is a winner................and did anybody mention the shaved ice cups around back with a gazillion flavors? Dreamsickle with cream is to die for. read more

Utterly disappointing! I was pumped to go here after seeing on DDD. Guy has eaten too many hot peppers and his taste buds have burned off! Folksy place in the heart of old Rosenberg, fun to see, but service was AWFUL! Ok it was a Friday night, kind of busy, but not busting at the seams. The young lady that waited on us was more concerned with getting her brother chips and coke than taking care of the rest of the patrons. There was another girl that was really hustling and taking care of the goofy girl's tables. Seemed like eternity we waited to get our orders. We had to ask for refills of water several times, and our check twice. My mom and I ordered the Tex-Mex plate to get a good sample of everything. Sadly, the TACO at Bob's Taco Station was by far the WORST taco I have ever tasted! It was supposed to be your standard run-of -the-mill crispy shell taco with ground beef. How could that be screwed up? The beef filling was mealy and tasted like it had oatmeal or sawdust added to it. Not very flavorful, either. The shell was not crispy, but floppy and soggy on the bottom. The enchilada was the best thing. The sauce was good. The tamale was marginal. The meat had a strong flavor I wasn't super fond of. The beans and rice were so bland that I didn't bother taking a second bite. My husband had the carne guisada and said it was pretty good. My dad, who eats anything and loves food didn't rave on, either. I liked the salsa and chips the best; those were actually very good, as was the guacamole. I don't know if I will give Bob's another try. The concept is nice and I like the atmosphere, but the food and service are really lacking. They may be resting on their laurels since their 15 minutes of fame. Step it up Bob! read more

Anybody that knows Tex-Mex food, Tacos de Lengua on a menu will induce tearing (tissue required) for to find them outside of the carnal taco stands on the side of the road, is a challenge. I enjoy their Tacos de Lengua, Barbacoa, and Carne Guisada respectively. Don't bother with anything else on the menu, as it is important to remember this is, a taco station. Bob's is not your traditional sit-down full service restaurant, expect a wait with the service being sub-par but fortunately the decor consists of funky, local, traditional, and unique pieces to keep you entertained. Afterwards, take a walk around historic downtown Rosenberg and revel in the quaintness of a by-gone era when towns blossomed next to the railroad. It will also help digest the tacos! read more

It was ok. We were prepared to wait for fresh food, but not for drinks or service. Food was average tex mex. I had the chicken fajita nachos and hubby got a tamale and taco plate. On Diners, Drive-ins and Dives this place was classified as a dive. I would call it a dump. While the tortillas, breakfast tacos and even pancakes are ok the service is HORRIBLE! I know they have signs that tell you if you're in a hurry to go to Taco Bell or McDonalds instead but come on!! We took some neighbors who had never been on Sunday and we were terribly disappointed! We were seated immediately, ordered very quickly and then waited. None of us ordered anything difficult, the place was not very crowded but yet we waited for our food for close to an hour! With 2 kids this is not ok. When the food arrived it wasn't great and there were flies flying around. Yuck!! We used to really like Bob's and I am sad to say that it is not good anymore. I have picked up food from Bob's on many occasions and there is never any consistency. One day the bacon is crispy the next two times it is soft, chewy and old. One day the tortillas are fat and doughy, the next they are thin and almost crisp. That being said Brothers Tacos, Laredo Tacos & Alamo are all in the city/Houston and way cheaper than here and just as good or better. You'd figure prices go down outside the big city.
