Well the food is really good, but don't use Uber eats unless you have to, they jack up the price; I mean $15 for chocolate chip pancakes with a side of bacon, sausage and a chocolate milk?? Then $4.50 for a chocolate milkshake (that wasnt)? Add tax, tip, service and delivery fees and what should probably be a $15 meal is $30 so super expensive for delivery, but the food is wicked good Did you know chocolate chip pancakes were a thing?? Lol I did, and I know how they're suppose to be made, I can't find them made correctly anywhere, until today! Most of the time they're pancakes with chocolate chips thrown on top *buzzz* wrong! No, you have your pancake batter, you put that on the buttered grill to make the pancakes and then you put the chips in before you flip, while it's still batter. THATS what Bob&Ediths does and omg finally someone gets it right, so thank you Now me and Bob&Ediths go way back and I didn't know till today if these were the folks I knew back in the day, I'm talking back in 2003 when I was stationed at Fort Meyer and they had that tiny spot on Columbia Pike in Arlington, but I was pretty sure with the quality of the food these were prob the same people turns out, and I'm happy to learn, they've expanded again down to Springfield so good on ya mate So what's up with the 3 stars?? Well I'm pretty sad about the chocolate milk shake and not thrilled with Uber eats jacking up the cost to $30, either you don't have milkshakes and need to take it off the menu or you don't want the milkshakes delivered bc they'll melt or something then take them off the menu, or call and ask the customer is a second chocolate milk ok? Bc I would've said never mind just take the milkshake off the order and save me the $4.50 But if you can, visit the location and don't use the delivery service, you should have an awesome meal read more

Needing some carbs before an in/out procedure I was having, I needed to find somewhere that could satisfy my needs when I stumbled across this place while in VA. When I walked in it took awhile for someone to greet me and I had to ask if I should seat myself or just wait. Our waiter was fairly friendly and the food came out extremely quick. So quickly that I think they had process of fried chicken already cooked and brought it out with some freshly cooked ones because they brought my mother a drumstick that was so small and dry, it had to have been just sitting. However, the breast was very juicy and flavorful. Good thing they brought her a fresh drumstick out because she really enjoyed the flavor of the chicken and how juicy it was. Me on the other had, I got pancakes which tasted like they "just added water" not fluffy or tasty at all, home fries and bacon. The bacon was good I'm so thankful for that because if you can't order good bacon and a Diner then what's the point right? The home fries on the other hand I should've sent back because after the first bite I was completely done. Went here on a Saturday after the club around 4am and the food was absolutely horrible. I lowered my expectations walking in because it's just a local diner. Didn't think they could mess up and egg and bacon sandwich but it was terrible. The "home fries" weren't cooked evenly or seasoned. The iced tea was disgusting and $4. The fries were edible but everything was just a big disappointment. Will definitely not be going back, I will in fact spread the word to avoid eating here. If you are in the mood for diner food, go ahead and give them a try. UPDATE 1/15/18: This place is still serving good food at a reasonable price. Staff is very attentive to your needs. I was like a little kid when I saw they had fried bologna on the breakfast menu, it's been ages since I had that. Loved the fried bologna. The only constructive criticism I have is that they were in such a hurry to get me my food that my eggs were not over medium as ordered, and the hash browns were not extra crispy as ordered. Nice, bright, clean and yummy. I was craving breakfast for dinner and found they had opened a location in Springfield. I got the waffle and bacon and 2 eggs over medium. Fresh crispy waffle, delicious crispy bacon and eggs cooked to the right temperature. My boyfriend got the grilled cheese with tomato and our friend got a sausage egg and cheese sandwich. They didn't have as much of a variety than IHOP but it was wayyyy better tasting with more realistic combos and proportions. IHOP at times gives too much food and then it becomes overwhelming to the point where I just want to go home. Here they used 3 eggs in the vegetable omelette yet it had a thin and soft cheesy texture with all the yummy vegetables entangled. If you visit please don't leave without getting the vegetable omelette; thank me later. Turkey sausage was cooked very well and was on point. The hash brown is easily ten times better than IHOP's dried out reheated crap. Seriously, they really take their time here to cook you great food, I instantly tasted the difference. The combos consist of combining 2 eggs with your choice of various meets, hash browns, or toast. For under $10, it's great. The only complaints would be the coffee is a bit expensive and not worth $3 and the scrambled eggs were a bit watery. Honestly, came here at 4am after a VERY long drive from Florida (on our way back home to Toronto). Drove over from the Holiday Inn and this was the best choice over McDonald's by far. Service was super quick, and the food was hot and fresh. Was the best diner food I ever had! I got the Country Fried Steak with Sausage Gravy, Hashbrown & 2 Eggs. Delish!!! Boyfriend got the Steak"N"Cheese Sub with fries that he also enjoyed. Meal only came up to $20 which was amazing for the quality food we enjoyed!! Diner food...and I love it! The reason I gave it 5 stars is it is exactly what it protest to be; nothing more, nothing less. It is your usual diner-type atmosphere. The food is greasy, the portions are generous, and it makes you feel all warm inside; especially on a cold day after enjoying some seasonal pecan waffles. I can now say that I've been to all three Bob & Edith's after visiting the Springfield location. Thankfully, the quality is the same, service was equally friendly, and food is excellent (ohhhhh patty melt in rye...) This is in the same plaza as Trader Joe's and Kmart, so there is plenty of parking. We went for dinner during a snowy evening (first real snow of 2017) so it wasn't busy. Place is bright, clean, tables are non sticky, and bathrooms are well kept. Let's talk about the food. Order everything, but if you need to choose, patty melts are delicious. My housemates and I followed out mediocre dinner at the mall with instantly gratifying pies from the one and only diner we frequent as much as we do. The time was late, way after dinner time, likely nearing midnight when we stroll on in for a treat. The late night staff greeted us warmly and let us choose our own seats. Their speedy service and humor let us be ourselves freely. They may have even laughed at the forkfuls of pie as seemed to be slowly shoveling into our mouths. I know it seemed suspicious when one of us had magically summed whip cream out of thin air when we were told before our pie orders that there was no whip cream left. A great breakfast for a decent price! Stopped by early on the way out of town and wasn't disappointed. Their eggs are to order with many different sides. The standard grits, toast and bacon/sausage are included. Coffee wasn't the best which was disappointing however I didn't leave hungry. 3.5 stars Bob & Edith's is a great place to find some grub that'll soak up all the alcohol and make you feel human again. Will C. and I stopped in around 9am on Sunday morning, and the place was poppin'!! We only had to wait a few minutes, and one of the servers waved us over to an empty table. I was feeling greedy, so I ordered 2 eggs with corn beef has and homefries. The boyfriend and I also split a blueberry hotcake. Overall, I enjoyed the food. My eggs were cooked just the way I like it, and the blueberry hotcake had slightly crispy edges and a soft, fluffy inside. The homefries kinda let me down - they were really bland and were a little too crunchy for my taste. Bob & Edith's can be a crazy, hectic place, so it's definitely not the place to go if you're trying to enjoy a peaceful weekend breakfast. It is also quite difficult to get your check as well since there are so many employees running in and out of the kitchen with hot plates of food. To pay, I suggest heading up to the register and someone will help you get squared away. I will definitely be coming back to this diner again when I'm feeling immensely hungover. :) read more

People definitely hyped this place up quite a bit! My husband and I were deciding on where to eat after watching Deadpool on a Saturday evening and I suggested Bob and Edith since I read some good reviews about this place. First things first, walked in...no one greeted us. It was our first time here so I was expecting someone to say welcome and I was looking around and saw 2 SMALL signs in the front saying "please seat yourself." Ok...would be nice to have someone come out and say welcome, feel free to sit anywhere you'd like or even make the signs larger and somewhere in the middle than the sides. We sat down and an older man can up to us asking if he can help us with anything...um...we JUST sat down, not even acknowledging the menu yet. But he was kind enough to apologize and said take our time. Then a younger server came up to us asking if we've been here before and presented us the daily specials shown on the wall on the other side of the restaurant. Anyways, onto our orders: I got the multi grain hot cakes (stack of 3) and two scrambled eggs and my husband got country fried steak and eggs with toast. Once we got our orders, we weren't all too impressed with the portion. My pancakes or hot cakes I should say are a decent size but very thin and my egg portion looks much smaller than 3 scrambled eggs, not worth spending $7-$8 just for hot cakes and two eggs. My husband's country fried steak was literally as the size of a child's palm, which was really small for it being country fried steak. While we were eating, the server that we had seriously did not check on us once...asking how we're doing or if we need anything else, quite disappointing when there weren't a lot of people inside the restaurant. Wish I could give it 0 stars. Yes, it's really that awful. Asked for carryout. Ordered 2 fried eggs, 2 biscuits, a bacon egg and cheese sandwich and a country fried steak sandwich with home fries. First of all, I was overcharged for the eggs. On their take home menu, under side items, the price for 1 egg is $1.49, and they tried to charge me over $10 for 2 eggs. This was apparently because they were trying to include the 2 eggs with the 2 biscuits. Their menu doesn't have a listing for a '2 eggs and 2 biscuits' meal but why would it cost more for these items than it would a la carte? The 2 eggs should be $2.98, so how are 2 biscuits supposed to cost $7 when their a la carte price is $1.49 for 2 biscuits? I asked him why he was charging me more than $10 for 2 eggs and he said it was their computer that took the order as a breakfast meal. He returned me the difference (for the most part), but still over charged me for the 2 eggs. I waited for almost half an hour for them to give me the food and by the time I got home everything I received was cold. On top of that, the bacon cheese sandwich I ordered came with no bacon, and when I called the restaurant to talk to the manager he told me that he was sure that the food was right and that the food was not cold, that they had given me the food as soon as it was done (which is a complete lie, because it was sitting in a plastic bag until I went to the counter to ask the chef for my order). When I did ask for the food though the chef just stared at me like an idiot. When I opened the packaging at home one of the biscuits was in pieces. When I mentioned this to the manager he didn't believe me. He told me he had packed the food himself and it was fine. It wasn't, but he didn't believe me. read more

Bob & Edith's on a Sunday morning is pretty much chaotic madness, but perhaps that's part of the charm of this old-timey-feel diner, reincarnated from the original Arlington location in a Springfield strip mall. On a bit of a whim, and in a desperate craving for breakfast foods of any sort after a long night of studying, my boyfriend and I decided to travel to Bob & Edith's as a part of our breakfast-seeking adventure. We had to wait a bit for a table, but once we were seated (and note, you have to actively look out for patrons leaving to seat yourselves), service was very quick, polite, and encompassing. It was a little confusing since there wasn't a dedicated server for our table, but all of the wait staff were understanding and promptly met our needs when asked. I ordered one of the breakfast specials, which came with two heaping pancakes, eggs, and a protein (I chose sausage) for under $10. I also ordered a side of home fries (as if I needed any more carbs but hey! it was a Sunday morning breakfast adventure #treatyoself). The pancakes were perfectly cooked and not over done. Lightly fluffy and with a pat of butter, they definitely hit the spot. The eggs and sausage were similarly satisfactory. The home fries were tasty, but perhaps could have used some more seasoning and some more time on the griddle. Ambience-wise, you're not going to get much of it from Bob & Edith's. But that's not what you're looking for. Nor are you looking for some kind of wild gastronomic adventure with gelées or foams. Bob & Edith's provides that authentic diner experience, complete with a flurry of loud griddle sounds, bustling servers, and constant commotion, with some really good home style breakfast/cooking. And that's all one can really ask for on a Sunday morning breakfast adventure. Bob & Edith's gets a 3.5 in my book. Alexis K and I visited on a Sunday morning and this place was PACKED! We waited around 10 minutes for a table to open up (it's self-seat). Upon seating down the waiter quickly arrived to get our order. I opted for the 2 eggs with turkey sausage and the girlfriend opted for 2 eggs with corn beef hash. We also got a side of blueberry pancakes to share. The food came out in less than 10 minutes, I was surprised considering the whole diner was packed. I enjoyed my breakfast, but I will say the homefries were not my cup of tea. They were charred and were hard to eat. The blueberry pancakes were delicious and made our experience so much better. Service-wise, don't expect to see your wait staff after you place your order. That's expected though since they are busy running around the whole diner. When you're done with your meal go ahead and walk towards the kitchen and you will pay back there. Honestly speaking, if it weren't for the charred homefries I would have easily given this place a 4 star. I will be back to try their other items in the future. read more

Wow!!!! I was pleasantly surprised to find this neighborhood gem a few miles from our home in Alexandria! The establishment is very clean, average noise level at 1pm and the lunch menu was perfect! Our server Jose was a jewel!!!! He was friendly, engaging, and got our order in a timely fashion. I like my hamburgers rare and it was cooked to my expectations! It's awesome to have a good restaurant in Springfield that is open 24/7. I really enjoyed coming to Bob & Edith's Diner. I've only been on a Sunday for brunch, where it is always busy. But each time I've gone the wait has not been too long. The food is solid diner food. I ordered the country fried steak, eggs over easy, wheat toast and hash browns. That was a good amount of food for my breakfast. The eggs were cooked perfectly. The sausage gravy was just that right consistency you want smothered over your country fried steak. The server is top notch. They really are a well oiled machine. Drinks and food come out fast. They really want to turn the tables around as quickly as possible. Crazy crowded place ! It seems like this area is kind of limited in terms of breakfast and brunch places. Thankfully we found this diner while checking out yelp. Once you walk in you stand in line until a table opens up. It's kind of hard to gauge whether it's a seat-yourself system or they come up to you. We ended up just walking up to the table they cleaned up once it was our turn. There are tons of options for the egg lovers. I got a steak omelet which was nice and hot ! My family and I love to get together and go on the weekends. They do not take call-ahead or reservations so try to go before 11AM - it can get super crowded any time after). The country fried steak is my go-to dish. Try their white sausage gravy - it is so creamy and delicious. Also, their scrapple is salty goodness. Their grits can be very buttery!
