I am really pleased to post a review in regards to Anthony Kelhower and Onboard Rigging based in…read moreFt. Myers, FL. In the aftermath of history's worst hurricane, namely Irma, we were indeed in need of a top-notch licensed rigger for our sailboat which rode out the storm at Boot Key Harbor in Marathon in the Florida Keys. We checked out the Internet as well as local word of mouth and contacted Anthony and Onboard Rigging and he agreed to come and thoroughly go through our 34' O'Day and tell us what was needed to get her back into shape. This was so important since winds were clocked up to 160 mph with gusts to 200. He was very prompt at arriving to meet us with his work boat at our mooring ball and quickly checked, measured, climbed and soon gave us a rather in-depth report on what was needed. We were impressed with his friendly and courteous manner and the speed he could get up and down the mast. Next he went back to his company cargo van which is basically a rolling warehouse with everything a rigger would need, organized and ready to get the job done. One of the best things about Anthony surfaced when he found a crack in our port spreader and he proceeded to start going up and down the mast over and over again until he realized it would have to be welded and it was his perseverance that got the job done. Every part he stocks including shrouds, fittings, etc. are first class and name brands. In the end, when he presented the bill, we were so pleased with his fair evaluations and it was great to see a businessman that didn't try to take advantage of his customers, since there was a lot of this after Irma. All in all, we are finally leaving in a couple of days to sail South from the Keys to Cuba, Mexico and down to Guatemala. I feel very confident in our rigging and we owe this to Onboard Rigging and Mr. Kelhower. Michael Houpt Jenia Rash

We hired Superior Marine for a defined scope of work and repeatedly requested a written contract…read morebefore work began. An initial estimate took months to receive, and significant changes were made along the way without prior approval, resulting in costs far exceeding what was originally discussed. Communication and documentation were ongoing concerns, and we ultimately had to spend additional time and money addressing issues after the boat was returned. Based on our experience, I would strongly recommend getting a detailed written contract and clear change-order process in place before proceeding.

Superior Marine really looks after your car, they spend time caring for it and they treat you with respect. Stop sending your car to the automatic car washes and the overpriced Downtowner's where they put your car on a conveyor belt and don't give you or it any attention. Bring your car here instead!

Of course you can listen to the sales pitch and walk around the boat lot. But the best way to determine if the boat is right for you is having a demo. She was very knowledgeable about the features on the boat and encouraged us to take the helm. This demo greatly influenced our decision to purchase the Avalon triton.

I checker back a few days later and they said they were waiting for parts, OK, I checked the following week, and they said still waiting for parts. On Wednesday the 20th of May they said they were just waiting to take it out and check out the work and I came by to pick it up on the 21 Of May. I got to talk with the mechanic who said it seems OK. They only changed the spark plugs and adjusted the carburetors, nothing else. They had it for a week and a half and that's all they did. What parts were they waiting for? I believe they forgot about me and only did something when I checked on my boat. Not complaining about the cost, just the lack of work they didn't do. Now I will have to take it someplace else to have work done that I wanted done.

Stokes built us the dock WE wanted, while other company's proposals were often trying to talk us out of things. In the planning stages their "we can do that!" attitude, the way Nick returned phone calls quickly, his enthusiastic professionalism set them apart from other builders. We were happy with the type/specifications of the lift they included in the bid plus the canopy and tiki sub-contractors they chose. They were not the lowest bidders but we felt assured that they would deliver quality work. And they 100% did. This positive attitude followed through into the construction phase where the crews showed up as scheduled and, once they started, worked non-stop from 8am to dark, and even weekends sometimes. They worked like an efficient, well-managed team. Credit to the team lead Rod for his positive can-do attitude, work ethic and attention to detail which you could clearly tell inspired his crew to live up to his standards. We really can't say enough good things about Stokes. We absolutely LOVE our dock. I mean how often do you get to design and build a dock! Enjoy it!! You can trust Stokes to make it a good experience.
