It's a medium-sized gift shop largely carrying products from Käthe Wohlfahrt Weihnachtsdorf. It's…read moresort of funny to me since their huge main store/museum is located just across Marktplatz. I believe there are at least three smaller stores like this in town including this one. Perhaps it is less overwhelming to some folks to shop here rather than at the main store with abundant and numerous amount of merchandize there. This one also carries some typical tourist souvenir type items and knick-knacks which the main store doesn't.
Customer service was excellent. We were assisted by a very nice and professional saleslady who helped us choose from what we were looking at. After we chose what we wanted, she went back to the storage room and brought out brand new boxed items. Then, she carefully opened each box to make sure everything was in tact inside, and we were satisfied with each one. It just happened the content was missing in one of the boxes, so she promptly replaced it with another one. If we just grabbed a box and went home, we'd never noticed the content was missing. Whew!? She took her time to make sure we had an excellent shopping experience. We appreciated that! Another saleslady who took care of us at the register was also very nice, friendly and professional. Another thing we appreciated was they spoke excellent English. I don't take it for granted even in this very touristy town in Franconia.
We had an excellent shopping experience in this shop. There weren't too many customers when we visited, and we took our sweet time and didn't sense any rushed feeling. Highly recommended. If you are in Rothenberg o. d. Tauber, this one is a must visit for your shopping needs to take some memory home for posterity. I may add some prices may be on a high side, but many items are fully handcrafted and painting quality is excellent. I recommend to use a VAT (Value Added Tax--sales tax) form if you are part of US military to save $ on sales tax (19%).
Currently only open on Fridays and Saturdays. Store hours will get extended once the weather gets nicer and tourist traffic picks up perhaps after Easter according to the saleslady.
