It's imposible to explain how bad is this company and the awful apartamentos that the y rent to students in Paris. AUP force you to rent with them. So expensive, dirty, with mold, garbage on the corners and kitchen cabinets. The refrigerator smelled terrible. If you has been assigned to an apartment with people living there, the company is not responsible for clean before you arrive. My daughter's college in USA canceled the study abroad program due de COVID-19 and she leaved last March, they don't refund anything. Still waiting for the deposit refund. Honestly, ZERO stars. I would NEVER recommend this service to anybody. We were without hot water for DAYS, the customer service is horrible and rude. They tried to blame the problems of the apartment on us. Also, because of coronavirus many people had to leave early and they refused to give a refund to those who paid all of the months rent upfront. Excuse me? I felt disrespected by the management and they didn't want to help us until someone's study abroad advisor stepped in and yelled at them. Do Not Get Fooled! But you have no choice! I am writing this as a parent who was fooled by this organization and furthermore trusting the AUP's judgment of selecting COH as their partner of choice! We were forced to choose these guys because AUP left us no choice! This is a very deceiving organization who takes advantage of the parents and students by using the French local rules as their guiding motus operando. Since we had lived in Paris and the suburbs of Paris for 15 years, we could see right through their deceitful ways of treating our children. I have gathered my data from 5 other parents who went through the same marketing gimmicks and lack of service and responsiveness. We had paid for a preferred location and got a lousy apartment which was a lot more than 30min distance from the school, but when we raised our concern, they want to prove by google maps that we were wrong. Since when a human walk is less accurate than google maps? or the other option was to move! We were also fooled by the pictures on the website and what the reality was when we saw the actual apartments! moreover, you had no choice but to accept what they gave you...no previews no flexibility...the prices they charge compared with what you can get in the open market, it is horrendous! but what can you do? major monopoly between AUP and COH....the school will not allow you to get your place because they say, it is more secure with COH....totally irrelevant, there is no security involved! nonsense! This is Just to let the new students and concerned parents to know what this organization is all about and how you will be a captive hostage in the monopolized model between AUP and COH. If you go abroad you need to go through BlueStripe for housing. They made the housing process so easy and straightforward from the very beginning. They are very transparent about the services they provide and it is definitely worth the money. They handled absolutely everything for me and I did not have to worry about one thing upon my arrival to Paris. They provide you with authentic Parisian living but also provides you with everything you need to feel comfortable. The location of my apartment was AMAZING! I could not of found a more perfect place. I had everything I needed in the apartment and it was very centrally located. We always felt so safe and secure. Our dad moved us into our apartment and he left feeling extremely comfortable with leaving us there (which says a lot). The hospitality my sister and I received from the team was so warming and comforting. It made us feel like we could ask them for anything and really trust them. They have 24/7 services so it never made me feel like I was alone or stranded anywhere. The BlueStripe team truly made our experience in Paris feel like a second home. I stayed in one of the apartments during my time interning in Paris during Summer 2018. I really enjoyed my apartment and roommates - I liked that I was placed with roommates from 3 different countries. The apartment was small with thin walls so it was noisy at times, but Paris is a very old city and I would expect this living anywhere in Europe. Living in a residential neighborhood with families and elderly people was great because it was an authentic experience and you get a feel for what it would be like to really live in Paris rather than just being there on a vacation. I highly recommend using BlueStripe if you are a student, however you should have the right expectations. Especially coming from the U.S., where apartments tend to be bigger and the living situations are just overall different. Do your research on the reality of what an apartment in Paris is typically like; it can be expensive and different from what you are used to. If you go into it expecting a hotel experience, the culture shock will be much more intense because these apartments are a very realistic French city living situation. BlueStripe is a great opportunity to safely immerse yourself into another culture, so embrace the aspects you are not used to and enjoy it! read more

Comforts of Home had the right business plan, but utilized an inefficient method in managing apartments and guaranteeing "comfort". With better planning and more attention to detail, I'm sure this company could provide a better living situation for all clients. Now on to my experience: I, for one, was quite unfortunate to receive an apartment complex that was infested with cockroaches and rats. Two maintenance requests later... and we still had cockroaches the size of Comforts of Home employees (I'm sorry, but really, they're huge). Also, what makes it okay to give a client an apartment that is still under construction? During the first semester, we had 8:30 AM construction with what sounded like a rock drill and a sledgehammer throwing some type of party four times a week. My roommates and I have endured this unwarranted alarm clock and have looked past this issue. However, when 2nd semester rolled around, we were surprised to find out that the main water line was IN OUR APARTMENT! This resulted in 2 weeks of what sounded like the same rock drill and sledgehammer + some heavy duty friends, reenacting a scene from the movie Saw. Smaller issues: A box of dirty clothes that didn't belong to any of us was left inside a closet when we moved in. Again, attention to detail. CoH provided us an uninstalled toilet roll holder, there are no holes in the wall to install this and no tools were provided. Is that some kind of joke? Again, attention to detail. These obviously are not pertinent issues but nonetheless, still issues. I do appreciate the location as I am situated very close to many high quality restaurants, grocery stores and landmarks. So I applaud CoH for their location choices. I just hope that in the future, they will take into consideration other more important factors that are appropriate in providing good housing. Overall, I have decided to give CoH 2/5 stars (1.5 stars but rounded up because the 50 euro charge per day after the semester ends) because they do have the right idea, but they just need to improve in many other aspects. Bluestripe is closer to a Ponzi scheme than a reliable housing service. The options they give you are wildly different than what you get. You can pay as much as someone who lives in an apartment that's like a hotel and end up in a studio. They aren't helpful with complaints and are rude to their residents. My daughter attended AUP and we were given no other alternative for housing. To say it was a disaster is an understatement, and I advise any parent contemplating sending your child to AUP to reconsider this housing option. She was placed in peril in her own apartment and we had no one to reach, needing to send my daughter to a hotel for a week with no help from Comforts of Home to find her immediate new housing. The new placement they found was not great either. She was moved three times. I could go on with more detail, but since we are considering a lawsuit, will not. They disregarded her safety, placed her in peril, and, as a result, our daughter will not be going back for the spring semester. I am not condemning AUP, simply the Comforts of Home organization that they have partnered with. So disappointing. read more

If I could give this disreputable company 0 stars, I would. Do yourself a favor and do not send your child here. The staff are dishonest, lie to avoid lawsuits, deduct from your security deposit obscene several hundred euro fines for things like "clogged sinks" and secretly create issues in your apartment so they can fine you for them. What's more, it is illegal in France to charge any more than 800EUR for the size of rooms they offer, and meanwhile, unwitting parents are coughing up 1500EUR/month for their dingy, moldy apartments, incompetent staff and dishonest, moneygrubbing practices. Your child can live in a beautiful, spacious non-shoebox in Paris for less than 800EUR/month. If you're still not convinced, you can still send your child here, just don't go through your child's school! Comforts of Home charges double the amount to students as they do for the public. That's right, you can still send your child to live here by renting as an independent member of the public via housing websites where these dumps are listed, and only pay 750EUR/month! read more

I'm a junior that stayed in a COH apartment for 5 months. I had a great experience using COH for my study abroad housing from start to finish, and if you're looking for an easy solution for your abroad semester or year in Paris, this is a really solid choice. When I first requested housing with COH, I informed them that my school was outside of the city and thus I was looking for the easiest commute possible. I knew this was a difficult request, but the housing coordinator exchanged several emails with me and was able to place me in a location with pretty much the shortest commute possible--so it was off to a promising start. Checking in and onboarding was really easy, as it's just 30 minutes of setting out the rules, expectations and tips for living in one of their apartments. Once I got into my apartment in the 15th, I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the living space was. For students studying in France, this is pretty much as good as it gets (by comparison, most French students live dormitory-style in what looks like military barracks--even at the nicest schools). This was more like where my friends who were living with host families were, in a nice family apartment. Other than that, the staff was friendly and helpful. They came in every two months (with a few days warning) to check to make sure everything was working okay, and to perform maintenance if it was needed. Not intrusive, but there when you need them. By no means is the service completely perfect, but that's a lot to ask. My friends who selected other companies or rented from a landlord ended up having genuine troubles with their stay, which I am happy to have avoided. Overall, no regrets. read more

If I could give this a negative rating I would. Save your money and your sanity and go somewhere else. The apartments are NOTHING like they advertised they are old and nothing like the modern refurbished ones on the website. Mine had parts of the wall falling down in my bedroom and sometimes stones from the CEILING would hit me as I sleep. The heating is practically useless. Though I was fine with most of this because "hey... nothing is ever perfect." The reason I decided to do a review was because they decided to SCAM ME! During check out there is a bunch of stuff that they require you to do, like clean and stuff... reasonable yeah? However, first of all, there all these absurd charges that they give you like 50 euros if the towel is not hang up or 50 euros if the curtains are not left drawn....?? Anyway, so the SCAM! despite all these absurd charges, I followed the checklist to the tee because I wasn't about to lose 50 euros because of a misplaced bedsheet. I cleaned everything, and I MEAN EVERYTHING, from the floors to the fridge to the oven to ALL the dishes and put everything back on the shelves where they belonged. Two Months later, I see that they have deducted 50 euros from my deposit because I left the dishes dirty? which dishes, you ask? The dishes that I cleaned?? The dishes that I dried, by hand I may add, and returned to the shelves. They then send me a bunch of photos that are from the house saying that this is the mess I left. My friend who I was with at the time and I, can clearly remember that I did not leave any of that stuff out there. SO they must have gone, scattered everything, and then claimed it was me. Or they may even be using the same pictures from a while ago to try and SCAM other people. I am very repulsed by this and honestly just find an AirBnB or something. If it was not compulsory, I would have never chosen them. Bad location (school advertise 30minutes max commute but it is in fact 45-50 minutes away, with the amazing Paris metro system which just shows how bad that location is), rip off pricing. The rooms house is very poorly constructed (paper walls which make everything audible, small bed, hard pillows, spotty toilet). There is no microwave provided but they give you an oven??? Sad that college students are inevitable victims to rip off companies like this one. read more

Be aware that the rented apartments are not the property of the company. They are apartment COH rents to regular Parisian owners. That explains why some are in good condition while some other are not. The business model is excellent (but not so legal in France) : paying an apartment for the regular market price and then renting it to some students for twice or even three time that price. First off, everything is so overpriced it would make your head spin. The laundry takes so long to do that there is no point in using their services. As far as what apartment you get, luck of the draw. You could get garbage or you could get near 5 star hotel quality. Greatest part is that everyone pays the same! Maintenance was decent. BlueStripe is a scam. I would never recommend their services to ANYONE. Housing is ridiculously expensive (it would be much cheeper to rent w/o them) and they to charge you for additional "services" like their "cleaning". Also, amidst the pandemic the REFUSED to give us a refund or even a fraction of what we paid for housing despite the fact that many of us were no longer living in their apartments. Just today I woke up to yet another email claiming that because we forgot to check out correctly, they are deducting money from our deposit. Sorry I forgot to sweep the kitchen floors, BlueStripe, but I wasn't planning on leaving my apartment for good in the middle of March. BlueStripe is a slimy company that only cares about money. If you lose your key or damage anything (this includes minor things like clogged pipes), they will force you to pay a fine that is usually upwards of $200. You probably won't get your full deposit back even if you leave your apartment in pristine condition anyway. They changed their name from "Comforts of Home" to "BlueStripe" because they received so much backlash online (look it up). I hope AUP gets their act together and stops affiliating themselves with this abomination of a company. read more

This is the worst customer service business in Paris. My roommates and I came to the apartment with a broken fridge, the apartment not cleaned and stuff missing. That wasn't the only issue and probably won't be the last. Our heat and hot water hasn't been working consistently and we've only been in the apartment for a month! They first said that they would give us the keys to another apartment across Paris (too far to get to with our student schedules) and then once they couldn't fix it they said they wouldn't give an accommodation to shower or sleep with heat in winter. After that our washing machine and dishwasher broken on the same day. The apartments are trash and over priced. The customer service is the worst I've ever seen. And it is unhygienic to live in! SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME. Do not let the five stars on yelp fool you it's a joke. I haven't even moved out yet but I'm sure they will screw me over for more money in the end. These folks did a great job when our daughters apartment, on move in day, had a major water leak!!! They got all the girls to other rooms or back with their parents. It took 2 weeks before anyone could move back in but they got every one housing and helped with moving luggage and arranging transportation as well. Pretty good study in crisis management. read more

The American University and Comforts Of Homes Paris fool you but you have no choice. The American University of Paris give all their students names looking for an apartment to Comforts of Homes, a good deal. Of course as most of them are living overseas and have little choice to secure a place to stay before arriving in Paris, that looks good but the reality is different. First; you have to pay 4 months of rent and a deposit (for months in advance is illegal in France). Second: What you see on the housing pas of American University of Paris is a tricky, What you get is is small bathroom to be shared by 4 students, basic white wall, a outdated kitchen, a poor quality of furniture, a small desk for two students (ma daughter shares a 12m2 bedroom: 2 single beds, two bed tablets, one tiny desk and a small closet to store luggages and clothes with a roommate (under 9 m2 private space/per person is illegal in France). The apartment was not freshly paint and have holes in the wall left by previous renters, even if COH treats you of a 50 $ fine if you hang something on the wall it was not repair, or add a piece of furniture (they treat you to come to time to time (a breaking of privacy). If you complain to COH the response is that is AUP's choice for the apartment or you have to move. The price that charges COH compared with what you can get in the open market is fair "on the rental agreement" but what COH asked you to pay in advance it's way over the rent you should pay when you compare with their landlord's rent agreement. I started a battle to have my money back. Should AUP housing blind or incompetent about the French regulations ? I met others parents during the welcome day and already some complained about the poor quality of housing and the price. Their "24/7 maintenance service" does not exist, especially on the weekends, so if an emergency did occur, there would be no one to contact. Inexperienced staff members and all together a disorganized company. The staff members seem to show more respect and care only to those willing to pay thousands of dollars more for the premium services. Overall, COH is a horrible business that is not at all what it claims to be. Needs years of improvement, and an entirely new staff. read more

DO NOT USE COMFORTS OF HOME! Parsons Paris uses Comforts of Home for their shared flats and it was the worst living experiences I have ever had. I stayed in one of their flats for five months while studying abroad and almost the entire time there were problems. For over a month the electricity would go out randomly and we would have to reset the electrical box constantly, we would contact comforts of home and they would send someone out to fix it, only for it to not work a few hours after they leave. The heating in one of the rooms was broken for a while in February so it was freezing and when we asked for extra bedding, they said no. The apartment was not cleaned out before we got there, past students items filled the closet space so we could barely fit our suitcases in there. The bathroom was filled with mold and the shower curtain was stained yellow. On top of all that, we were matched with a unstable roommate and they refused to do anything about it. We tried to work with her and we warned the employees of Comforts of Home that were paired with Parsons that she was having problems and could be a danger to herself or others, after countless meetings and emails, they did not help. Overall, it was a very bad experience because they were no help and it put a damper on our experience studying abroad. read more
