Good food choices even for those of us trying to follow a more Paleo lifestyle (hard to come by around Aggieville). Every time I have stopped in for brunch there has been live music - love it! First off, Bluestem has the second best cup, of coffee in Manhattan, a recent addition to the coffee scene probably has it topped. The space is ok, not great, though the patio area can be really nice in the right weather. The chow is very good. From continental fare to burritos and quiches, it is all good. Not really a breakfast joint as much as it it a coffee house, though one with a lot of food options. Waitstaff has always been very friendly and sincere. Yummy salads. Greek is my favorite. The variety of textures and flavors in it is perfect. It's cool they have Paleo and gluten-free options, since that is still pretty rare in Manhattan. The quality of the Sencha (green tea) they have is very good. Baked goods need a lot of work though. I've tried a lot of different things and haven't had anything that is give more than a 5/10. Warm, welcoming cafe with absolutely delicious coffee! Best almond milk latte I have ever had. I did not ear food on this visit, but the smells were amazing. I walked by late at night and it seemed these folks had a large crowd of people hanging in their cafe from early morning to late at night. read more

I did not enjoy my experience at this establishment. I purchased a 'bottomless coffee' and did not refill it once. I had to leave quickly due to a change in plans and they wouldn't give me a small to go cup. We had a breakfast burrito which you warm up in the microwave. It would be nice if that was on the menu. I cannot rave enough about Bluestem Bistro. I don't know why we waited so long to visit this place, but once we did, we were hooked! I always get the toasted caprese on ciabatta, and it is amazing, I love it so much! The staff is friendly, the coffee is really good! They're also kid friendly, my daughter loved their spaghetti. As far as drinks, their almond joy latte, grasshopper mocha, and honey nougat latte are phenomenal! (all alcohol free, but they do have those with alcohol pretty much, just with different names, haven't tried, but they look good.) read more

LOVE the bistro salad with feta cheese instead of blue cheese. It's SO GOOD. I've also had the pizza (flatbread type) that's got mozzarella, basil, and balsamic glaze - very good! *Biggest downside is their kitchen closes at 8pm. read more

As far as previous posts with food options, you can't meet everyone's needs all the time. I am surprised that there were no non-dairy options, but I always find lots of non meat options. As for the "tools" on computers, dude, really? This is in Aggieville, where students and faculty frequent to work and enjoy food, beverage, or just humans milling about. I would have given it 5 stars because their coffee is amazing, but their sandwiches get expensive. They however redeem themselves by having 8:00pm $1 nights, where bakery goods go on sale for $1, no tax! They also have a really cool Monday Night Dinner from 5-8:00pm, serving food from around the world, including Japan, Brazil, and Ireland. read more

Great salads and pastries. A GOOD cup of coffee and pleasant service. Minor quibble? There used to be butter available on the counter. Now you have to ask for it, and they seem to parcel out one tiny pat at a time. It's kind of awkward to ask the cashier "um, can I have more butter" in a shop that specializes in pastries and bread. Either put it out where the customers can get it, or be more generous? Rant over. Like the place very much anyway. read more

I liked the mocha a lot -- chocolate-y and not too sweet. I've had only one lunch there and found it disappointing, the bread was tough-almost hard- and salad not well-prepared. I haven't tried the baked goods, so DNK. I will definitely return for the mochas. read more

This is my favorite cafe in Manhattan! First off almost all the staff are super friendly and remember you from day to day so that is nice. I am an experienced baker, and I have to say that their scones are amazing, they are always moist on the inside with that nice thick outer crust, if you have a chance to try the peanut butter chocolate chip one you won't be disappointed. I also like the warm and inviting atmosphere of the place, sometimes when it isn't too busy the staff will stop and talk to you, and they seem to love what they are doing which is great. I'm not a fan of Radina's the staff are usually less talkative and you don't feel as welcome there. Coming from a city that prides itself on local coffee shops, I would say this is one of my favorite three cafes of all time, and I plan on being a customer for a long time to come! read more

I could give this college type coffee shop/café 5 stars. How can such a place get rated that high? You have to realize what their mission and product are. They are not 4 Olives or Harry's. They are not a place for elegant meals or even every day meals. What they do offer are some of the best soups I have ever had anywhere,(especially the tomato soup which is beyond just homemade) and the sandwiches are nearly as good. It's a great place for a quick meal and cup of coffee. They offer a variety of other drinks too and plenty of sweets. I wouldn't say their pastry selection is overly creative but what is there is better than average. Lots of room, and on a nice day a decent sitting area outside as well. Great place for students to study no doubt, but all can find a place. Usually some jazzy music playing and quick service in my experience. Check it out for lunch and they're open quite late too. I admit, the soups I've had here put it over the top for me. read more

they are 1/4 on remembering to put the whipped cream on my mocha after asking first if I wanted it...I only get mochas there, because their coffee is nowhere near as good as Radina's. That said, the people that patronize that place are less likely to be spouting fringe fundamentalist or right-wing views. read more
