Would not recommend this company. Came home Thanksgiving evening to find a bird flew into our…read morewindow and shattered it. So we called Columbus Glass & Mirror that next Monday, November 26th, and spoke with Jean about getting a replacement installed. Jean said someone would be right out within a day or two. First week came and went, no one showed up. 2nd week: I called again, spoke to Jean, she said she'd check as to why no one had come. The following afternoon, I received a call from Andy and his helper who indicated they were right down the street and would be right over. They did come, measured the window, and said they'd need to order it. I asked Andy at least 5 or 6 times if they'd need to install the replacement glass from inside, he repeatedly said, 'no, the work would be performed from the outside only'. Andy said they'd contact us when the ordered glass arrived at their shop for installation, and probably within the next few days. Another two weeks went by, and I called Jean who returned my call and provided me with a verbal quote for the work. I was astonished to learn that the replacement glass had not even been ordered yet. Christmas came and went. I called them again to ask when they may be out to fix my broken window which was now everywhere due to the heavy storms right after the holiday. Spoke to Jean again. This time I asked if I could speak to the manager. Jean told me Nancy was her name, but would not put her on the phone. Instead, she kept putting me on hold, and then returning with messages from Nancy. I asked, "Is this how you treat all your customers?" Jean said, no, but put me on hold again. Finally Jean said that Nancy said that they would give me a discount for all of my trouble. I got a new date of January 2nd and a time of 10 am for the install. The morning of Jan. 2nd, 10 am came and went, and Jean called me at 11:30 am to tell me it would need to be another day because all her guys called out sick. I told her it needed to be that day because I took off from work, and she put me on hold again. Finally, she said 2 pm. But just before 2 pm, Jean called to say her guys were running late. They did finally arrive and guess what? All the work needed to be performed from inside. My wife asked Chris if the silk draperies needed to be moved, and he said no. She repeatedly told Chris to let her know if those silk drapes were in the way, to let her know so she could move them. While working to get the broken glass out, Chris reached up to grab the silk drapes and push them to the side, hands covered with silicone and oil. My wife hollered at him 'NO!' in order to keep those custom draperies from being stained permanently. Chris immediately stopped (whew, it was a close call because he did almost ruin the drapes), turned around and yelled at my wife: "YOU MEAN I CAN'T EVEN TOUCH THEM??!!!!" And then he stormed off and went outside to pack up and walk off the job, as my wife was yet again explaining why she had asked him not to touch the drapes and let her move them if they were in the way. Things really didn't get much better after this. Chris eventually calmed down and did install the new glass, but never offered an apology to me or my wife. The trim on the outside is a mismatch and does not fit well as it is the wrong size, and they scratched the molding or the aluminum frame around the window in multiple areas, so now it is white instead of dark black/brown, and it is highly noticeable. I cannot believe we waited for so long for such an undesirable end result. To surmise, it was not worth the wait. And our discount amounted to very little.
