I went to several mechanics trying to get an answer. They kept giving me lists of things to fix. The costs were adding up. The repairs weren't fixing the problem. I went to P3 on the advice of a wannabe amateur mechanic, who used to deliver parts to the store. He told me they were honest people who wouldn't try to jerk me around. The first thing they did was tell me they would wait to look at my car until the following morning, when it was going to be cold so they could see first hand what was happening. They would not diagnose without seeing what was really wrong with the car. No other mechanic did that. Ultimately the repairs to my car weren't worth the trouble, they would cost more than the car was worth, so I sold it. But I'll be back at P3 the second my car needs something more than an oil change.

P3 Automotive cost me over $1800 to correct their errors in work done on my suspension. This…read moreincludes $943 that P3 charged for installation of coil springs and struts, which was done incorrectly in spite of my explicit, specific instructions on how to do it right. The springs were installed on the wrong end of the car. The mechanic was probably stoned or hung-over. P3 turned the car back over to me and charged me as if nothing was wrong. Anyone with any mechanical sense should have known something was wrong, as the rear end was much higher than it should have been, and the front much lower. Months later I found out that the rear springs were on the front, and not supporting the engine compartment. I blew out two new front struts because of the excess weight on the front struts. I had to buy and replace two front struts, as well as pay another mechanic to reverse the coil springs correctly. At another time, P3 charged me for a re-manufactured rear brake caliper, which it turned out was never installed. They reused the old one with new springs. Charged me over $350 for that rip-off. Avoid this outfit unless you have money to burn!

Somehow I forgot the right day, and took the car in on Wednesday. Although they were busy, the manager told me to leave it for an hour and they would squeeze me in to see what the problem was; I walked down Capital Circle to Publix to have a Coke while I waited. 45 minutes later the manager called me to tell me the rear rotors and pads were worn through and needed replacement, they could do it then in about 3 hours, or I could make an appointment and bring it back in a few days. I replied that I couldn't wait three hours -- a close friend of mine with a terminal condition was being med-evacuated the following morning to his family in Dallas, and this was my last chance to see him. There was a pause at the other end of the line, and the manager said: give us 75 minutes and we'll have it ready for you. 80 minutes later I was back in my car, brakes fixed, on my way to a last visit with my old friend. I'd give Ray Gordon's ********** stars if I could. Roger LaBrucherie, Tallahassee

I visited Professional Automotive partly because it was located close to where I work and partly because Furrin advised that their shop doesn't work on Nissans as frequently as their other location (PAC on Gaines Street). The service writer at PAC was friendly enough, he gave me a reasonable quote over the phone to have my A/C recharged (assuming that was the problem). I dropped it off, walked to work, and after not receiving any phone call as to the status, I gave them a call to inquire how it was all going. The gentleman said all was good and that he was just about to call me to come on by and get it. He was fine with me coming to get it later (at the end of my work day). The total bill was a bit higher than we had discussed on the phone (from $90 to $115) but he explained that my A/C was completely dry and they went through more supplies than anticipated. No problem, I was just happy to have cold air again. Upon entering the vehicle, I turned the A/C up to full blast and waited five minutes...and the entire five minutes I was being blown by HOT air. Ugh. I went back in, the service writer came out, verified that sure enough, whatever was causing the air to turn cold had either leaked out or..well I couldn't say for sure what had happened. He apologized profusely and asked me to bring it back the next day since the tech was already gone for the day. Not exactly a convenient option but I didn't have much choice, especially because I'd already paid them all of the money for the original service. He assured me that they would take care of it for no additional cost. I thought, well that sounds great, but if it means a new compressor, I hope that he stays true to his word! LOL The next day, the gentleman stayed true to his word. They accepted the keys and I trudged back to work (praying that my compressor wasn't busted). As it turned out, no compressor problem; just a leak in one of the hoses. They took care of the leak, recharged the A/C and voila! The Z has cold air to this day. I do think that they operated based off of my word when diagnosing the vehicle and that was ultimately the mistake that caused the loss of supplies and required my return trip the next day. Barring that forgivable oversight, I definitely trust these guys with my orangey and would bring it back for service in the future.

We agreed on strategy and they did a great job without having to replace parts. I spent less than my deductible and got the car back in fourlq days. Had it not been raining it would have been three days. Car number 2 got rear ended and had significantly more damage. This is where Jen's expertise kicked in. She helped coordinate all of the communication between the insurance companies to the point that we dropped of the car off, picked up the rental at the same time and waited for their call.
