I have been going to Team Red White and Blue (RWB) for about a year and a half, and I love it!…read moreLocated behind Bella Prana ( Formerly Yogani) RWB offers lots of events and ways to get active in the community for civilians vets and active duty military! The nightly functional fitness classes at the Fire Base ( that's what they call their location) are great workouts... But what I love is that they push you but without sacrificing technique. There is a strong emphasis on proper form and technique. I believe I spent 3 months practicing how to do a proper squat. The trainers will scale workouts for those with limitations, but don't be fooled, they will deliver a butt kicking work out every time! I played sports growing up but have never been as fit as I am now, not in my entire life. Though I incorporate other workouts into my weekly routine, muscle and core strength are huge in achieving fitness goals and overall health. The classes encourage heavy lifting without sacrificing form to prevent injury. I tell people it's CrossFit Concepts without a CrossFit mentality, and the gym is not intimidating, the way a CrossFit gym might be. Especially for people just starting their fitness adventure, this is a great place with a very encouraging atmosphere and teamwork mindset. All the trainers are very nice and knowledgeable and the members all very friendly as well! Other events that have been hosted by team RWB: Monthly Eagle Lunch Monthly Eagle social Old Glory Relay March Madness Bracket Challenge _ free entry and I actually won an Xbox Weekly Run Meet Ups And so many other events you will have to check out their Facebook page for more info. Teaming up with other gyms for free workout classes Every Sunday @ 12pm Free Yoga at Bella Prana I highly recommend checking out team RWB and adding functional fitness to your workout routine. Not only does team RWB help others get involved in and better the community, they can also help you reach your fitness goals and make new friends!

The coaches are always patient, thorough, and more than willing to work with where you are in your fitness journey. I've also attended other fun events like the Veterans Day parade and celebration, and been a part of a Ragnar Trail Run team put together by Team RWB. This organization is such an integral part of the community for active military, veterans, and civilians alike. Go visit their website for more information and coming up events and be a part of something awesome.

Tennis Tampa Bay and all the Tennis League Network leagues are great and I highly recommend them if…read moreyou want a self-organized, flexible league. How it works is you pay a flat fee for a season (or multiple seasons for a discount I think?) and then get access to a list of all the other people who signed up and their contact information. Then, it's up to you to schedule matches and play as many as you want throughout the season. At the end of the season, you are seeded based on your total win record in your division, and the playoffs begin. There are also great prizes depending on how far you go in the playoffs, like merch or even a free future season for the runner-up and champion! Tennis League Network has an app (see pictures) that works great and makes submitting scores very quick and easy. They also have tons of other features like finding a court, checking your division's scores, and a "Player of the Year" program to win some rewards based on how many matches you play, how many friends you refer to the league, etc. The owner of the league who I believe created the company and designed the app and everything is also very quick to respond if you have any questions or concerns. There are clear and fair rules listed as well that help keep the league running smoothly. I have played against several players that I ended up becoming friends with outside of just tennis too! Thanks Steve for creating a great league keeping it running.

Whether it be the competitive side, the technical side, or the fitness side you can always find someone that wants to play. My 4 stars is unfortunately due to my most recent season. I feel there could be a more evaluated way to make high or low mid season division adjustments for a player. Before someone is moved down a division (or up), there could be input from recent opponents on the player in questions skill level. Getting first hand experience rather than going purely off stats. Or letting the more skilled player stay in there lower division but they must forfeit their playoffs and championship opportunity. SIDE NOTE: Cost of living is too much and Inflation is too high to be playing for a new can of balls.

For one of the NHL's 10 newest teams, the Tampa Bay Lightning have done very well for themselves…read more Since the team's first season in 1992-93, the Lightning have won three Stanley Cups: their first in 2004 and recent back-to-back championships in 2020 and 2021. It's impressive for a hockey team based in Tampa, Florida. It wasn't until the early 2000s that the Bolts hit their stride. The team had only one playoff appearance in the 90s (1996, a 4-2 series loss to the Philadelphia Flyers) then rattled off 12 playoff appearances beginning in 2003. That stretch included the three aforementioned Cup wins along another Finals appearance in 2015. Tampa Bay's recent success has been led in part by head coach Jon Cooper, center/captain Steven Stamkos, defenseman Victor Hedman, and goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy. Cooper is now the longest-tenured head coach among all 32 active NHL head coaches. His first season in Tampa was 2012-13. What's cool about the trio of Stamkos, Hedman, and Vasilevskiy is all three were drafted by the Lightning: Stamkos in 2008 (1st overall pick), Hedman in 2009 (2nd overall pick), and Vasilevskiy in 2012 (19th overall pick). All of these guys experienced the 2015 Stanley Cup Finals loss to Duncan Keith, Marian Hossa, and the Chicago Blackhawks. After that, they got within one win of the Finals twice: the 2016 Eastern Conference Finals against the Pittsburgh Penguins and the 2018 Eastern Conference Finals against the Washington Capitals. They finally made it count with a 4-2 series win over the Dallas Stars in 2020 and a 4-1 series win over the Montreal Canadiens in 2021. Stamkos is a seven-time All-Star and owns several franchise records including most career goals (422). Hedman is a four-time All-Star and won the Conn Smythe Trophy (playoffs MVP award) in 2020. Like Hedman, Vasy is also a four-time All-Star and won the Conn Smythe Trophy in 2021. Somewhat surprisingly, Cooper has never won the Jack Adams Award, the NHL's coach of the year award, though he was a finalist in 2014 and 2019. As I wrote in my review for the Canadiens, the 2021 Stanley Cup Finals were unique in that the championship series featured *two* teams from the same conference: https://www.yelp.com/biz/le-canadien-de-montr%C3%A9al-montr%C3%A9al. The 2020-21 season and playoffs were significantly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Simply put, the Tampa Bay Lightning is a smart, well-run, and well-coached organization.

This is definitely more of a community than a gym…read more I signed up for a membership at the JCC North and we get four free passes a month to go to this JCC. I really wish it was closer, because I looked at the schedule of exercise classes and wow there are a lot. They are at all hours and all different types. It's phenomenal. The day I went there was some sort of coffee happy hour happening with coffee and food. It really looks like they're trying to build a community here, which is great. The woman working the front desk was so friendly. They have locker rooms that have keypads on the locks, which made them really easy to use. The towels are great and they have blow dryers, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, the standard stuff. At 5:30 p.m. on a Monday it wasn't crowded at all. The gym is on the smaller side, it wraps around the indoor track/basketball court, but for the amount of people there it doesn't seem small at all. I walked on a treadmill and used the free weights. I passed by the cafe, which had a small but mighty looking menu. I would definitely stop by and grab a bite here. I've also attended a gala and a conference here before and I found them both well done. There's tons of parking, with a guard (only one entrance off of Howard).

Additionally, if you want to hear lots of private conversations via mobile phone, you will have the opportunity to listen to rude members of this community center talk on their phones in the gym. Even though there are signs everywhere, asking members not to conduct private phone conversations on their mobile device. It is very frustrating that I pay for a membership when I cannot use the facilities due to rude people sitting on workout machines or benches while they surf the Internet on their phones or have phone conversations while not using the machines they are sitting on, preventing other members from being able to use the weightlifting machines. Additionally, the staff of the community center does nothing to prevent this from happening.
