We booked the Turning Leaf cabin in advance for a 4 night stay. We drove and drove in the night to finally reach our cabin. The cabin was beautiful....but disappointingly filthy. One bedroom was in the basement and it was so muggy and smelled so stale. They had multiple containers of a chemical trying to absorb the moisture but it wasn't working.
We discovered that mice had been using the basement for their play area. There were mice droppings everywhere. In addition, there were cobwebs spun onto the sheets of the bed to the wall and cobwebs all behind the bed and night stand. Needless to say, we did not sleep in the basement. We reported the problem and had to make this place work for the night. We ended up sleeping on the sofa and loveseat----not a good substitute for a bed. The following morning, we discovered about 2 inches of dust and hair all under the upstairs bed...GROSSSSS. We felt like we needed a shower after leaving that place. Even our clothes smelled bad. We checked out the next morning to move on to a cleaner place and was in disbelief that property management would actually charge us for the night, and a cleaning fee on top of that. What the heck??? It was filthy before we arrived. A word of advice....don't rent this cabin. Gatlinburg would definitely have been the wiser choice. read more
