Such a relaxing treat. A friend mentioned that she uses the Cosmetology Department at Blue Ridge Community College for pedicures, so I called and made an appointment. I walked into an open, airy, CLEAN classroom/lab setting and spent the next 90 minutes being pampered by a knowledgeable student who was a delightful "professional-in-training!" The Pedi chair here is different from Salon chairs in that the pedicurist brings a tub of the soaking water to the chair instead of the water being in the same device used by others. I rather like that concept--felt safer and more hygienic to me. The student assigned to me was Tori and she was so precious I will definitely request her the next time. She was gentle and meticulous. She truly cared about me and my procedure. In this setting, as one of the other students said, "We can take our time because we're not in a hurry!" There was no rush. Quality products were used. I received the foot and calf massage plus instead of wrapping my calves in the hot towels, my FEET were wrapped! Ahhhhh! So relaxing and pampering. When I told them I had never experienced the foot wrap, they were surprised.
The students were all busy completing assignments or practicing techniques in hair color, gel and acrylic nails, massage, hair cuts and sets and more. The atmosphere was subdued and professional. No raucous laughter or loud voices. When I mentioned this they were quick to tell me this was part of their training! Way to go, BRCC Instructors.
My entire experience was rewarding and I shall return to avail myself of more of their services. And the total for my personal pedicure?? A mere $15!! I tipped my sweet pedicurist $5 and she was so so SO appreciative.
By all means, give this department a try, help
a student progress in their career and education and have a delightful time while doing so! And ask for Tori! read more
