Amazing staff and servers and above all else food from a chef that really cares. It's all about the little details. Flavors are extremely well balanced. This was our 4th time here at this restaurant with in 5 weeks because we loved it so much the first 3 times. But this time it made us want to write a review as a hit or miss restaurant. I always order the small lasagna, this time it was just topped off with pure tomato paste. Ick. My boyfriend ordered the Captain's cut prime rib, end cut, as he always does. As he put it, it wasn't even a first mate's cut it was so small. Even the waitress saw and said that it was not right, but nothing was done about it, not even a discount on the bill. So I give it 3 stars, most of the time it's great. Just not this time. read more

Great American home style cooking! Their seafood is so fresh and delicious!!! Lobster roll the other day was huge. Fish & chips have either raised beer batter or cracker. I've been three times and very satisfied. Great food and the whole staff has always been very attentive and kind. Just went recently (which is obviously during COVID) and I felt very safe and comfortable with the service we received and the way the seating was. Blue Point Restaurant is a house converted into a decently sized restaurant with a full bar. The reason why you won't see many reviews on Yelp is because the patronage is almost entirely retired people. The average age in the restaurant is probably going to be sixty, but don't let that stop you from coming here. We were seated quickly and waited on immediately. The menu is fairly diverse with a fried section, a sandwich (hamburger derivatives) section, a pizza section, a handful of seafood items, and a couple of meat pies. Lunch is about 20% cheaper than dinner for many items (except pizzas.) I had one of their seasonal specials, the Bourbon Salmon with a baked potato and broccoli. The salmon wasn't flavorful, and I felt it was slightly overcooked and dry. The broccoli was minute, and the baked potato could've been softer, but overall I was OK with my experience here. The service is AOK and the staff is fairly attentive. We were also given a slice of cake and was not charged for it because it was a friend's birthday. Bear in mind that they are not used to credit cards (due people of older ages preferring cash) so you will need to signal someone to charge your card. It took them quite a long time for them to pick up my credit card (my girlfriend actually had to signal someone) but I understand that the vast majority of patrons probably leave cash and walk out. read more

Great old timey restaurant in beautiful Acushnet near the New Bedford line. Small bar (maybe 8 seats) is modern and looks newly updated; the dining room is vintage and homey. Food is heavy on seafood but has a good assortment of steak and fowl too, also pizzas. Large portions, very fresh and well prepared. Not gourmet but not the 99 either. Very busy on the weekends, older, local crowd mostly so avoid the early bird timeframe. read more

Blue Point is a staple in Acushnet MA. We have dined there many times and I would say the food is always fresh and tasty. The majority of the patrons tend to be in the 55+ age group. Fried seafood is good, portions are not huge, but are adequate. I do feel that the prices are a bit high for the portions that are plated. But that's just my opinion. Not my first choice in the area, but certainly not a bad spot. 3 stars. read more

This place ROCKS! It's tucked away on a quiet little street. There is nothing fancy about the building and it has been around for years. Everyone I know has eaten there but I had never been, up until 3 days ago. Wow! This is my new favorite. It was clean, the service was great, and the food was off the charts delicious. We had Oysters Rockafella to start, and quahogs as well. The oyster were fantastic and super flavorful and the quahogs was one of the best I've had in a long time. We all had surf and turf. We had the filet with baked stuffed shrimp and also filet with the lobster casserole. It was so good. We all ate everything. The vegetables were not over cooked and the potatoes were cooked perfectly. They start you with homemade corn bread that was super tasty. The drinks were large and yummy. The only thing that wasn't perfect was the apple crisp. It said it was homemade but it was soggy and not that tasty. But that won't dissuade me from going back. The food was very good except for my 2 4oz fillet mignon.I ordered medium and they were well done and not so tender. The waitstaff kept getting the drink order wrong and by kept I mean four times.Twice they brought water nobody ordered, a vodka and seven nobody ordered and what was supposed to be a Crown Royal and seven that was straight Crown Royal.It was a birthday treat for a family member so her dessert was free and that was very nice.The staff seemed a bit flustered and maybe one of the girls was new but still....My sister and her husband have worked in hospitality and they were not impressed.Go for the food but be warned. I've heard of the Blue Point Restaurant before, and I'm surprised it hasn't been reviewed yet. First off, it's somewhat hard to find if you don't realize the sign front the place is on the street, but not in front of the place. The very warm wall colors and beautiful wood floors invite you into the Blue Point when you walk in. The bar, full of, uhm..the elderly, is unique (old bottles as nice hanging light fixtures) and full. The TV set is a nice detail too. When I saw the dining room, I was actually kinda disappointed because, although cute, it was a bit small. The small tables weren't on top of each other. The older, and indulgently polite waitress (I loved her hair) was quick and took our order briefly. The menu was okay. I didn't entirely know that it was a mainly seafood place, but the menu seemed pretty extensive, even throwing in some meat and pasta dishes. Me and my father made the plain, yet of course respectable decision of getting Fish and Chips. A large (it comes in large, small, and lunch sizes) fish and chips was only $9.99, so that was a pretty good deal. Along with the complimentary, and delicious, rolls and cornbread, we ordered ourselves a cup of chowder. The chowder was possibly some of the best I've ever had. There was not only creamy, but it had this flavor that I honestly can not put my finger on. It was just irresistible. The fish and chips came out really quick, but it didn't look like a lot of food. The fries were fries, and the two pieces of fish (which started to look gigantic as I could barely finish the first one) were actually pretty good. The batter was somewhat disagreeable, but nonetheless fine. I was stuffed, but when your in a restaurant, you don't know what stuffed is. The lengthy dessert menu, explained all by the waitress; I thought it was sort of weird they didn't have a menu for it; sounded pretty nice. My father got an apple-raspberry crisp (looked awesome) while I got the chocolate cake. Both were topped with vanilla ice cream. Let's just say I didn't finish the whole thing. The Blue Point restaurant is cozy spot right off of New Bedford that is really nice. I actually liked it: isn't that good enough? C'mon: Chocolate Cake. read more

We were craving chowder and wanted to try somewhere new. After a quick google search, we headed here. We came in by the bar side and sat ourselves in the dining room after a few minutes of standing there without being greeted. Perhaps we should have gone in the front door. We were greeted about 10 minutes later with menus and our drink order was taken. After about another 10, maybe 15 minutes, our very basic drinks of iced tea and water w lemon arrived. Our order was taken, we both ordered the same, a bowl of chowder and a stuffed quahog. The waitress asked if we wanted it all together and we did. We were brought some bread after our chowder arrived, sans quahogs. The chowder was delicious. I like mine a bit thicker/creamier, but it was really great with lots of clams and bacon! Our quahogs arrived after we had finished our chowder. They were just dropped off and I had to call out after our waitress for butter, hot sauce and a lemon wedge. These condiments are almost always a staple around here when a stuffed quahog is served. The quahog was good as well. Piping hot which was great. The stuffing was a bit bland for me but I like it spicy. They were certainly made in house though which was a plus. The atmosphere is nice. Lots of old timers and working class folks around. It was very comfortable, clean and homey feeling. Perhaps our service would have been better if we had spent more money. I'm not sure. We'll probably go back for the food but better service would have had us hooked. read more

Just finished a wonderful evening at the Blue Point. Everything was perfect. The cocktails were right on. Restaurants often have trouble making a perfect cosmopolitan, both were excellent. Everyone raved about their food, generous portions, no one had room for dessert. Our waitress was a professional. We told her we were in no hurry as we were celebrating the end of summer with two dear snowbirds who were headed south. She gave us just the right amount of attention. All in all, couldn't' have asked for anything better. We'll be back soon!! read more

The staff, bartender seemed to be the only one on duty. Felt bad for her. Restaurant was dirty, forks on the floor, food castaways on the floors, not clean. Food was bad, clam chowder was so overspiced you wonder why it was hidding behind the kale soup. Bucket of clams, they were two days old to be cooked. We arrived at 3 p.m. on a Friday afternoon. Only 1 couple was in there at this time besides us. We had our pick of where we wanted to sit. Nice ! We opted for ice waters and out waitress brought us over a basket of hot buns and corn bread and butter. Yummy !!! My wife had the seafood casserole of which she said was awesome ! Rich and very flavorful. The baked potato and squash were great !! I opted for the large fish and chip. It was the best I have ever had in my 55 years! I told the waitress this as well. The fish was light golden brown and fried perfectly ! The french fries were fried perfectly as well !! Yea !!! Our daughter met us there on her way home for a grilled chix salad. She said the chicken was very good but the lettuce was wilted as we could see. Disappointing. We then opted for dessert. They claim to make their own desserts. Rock bottom. ! My blueberry pie was dry with no juice at all and the crust was nasty. It tasted like a piece of box pie that was zapped in the microwave. Yuk !! Though the scope of vanilla ice cream that came with it was very good. My wife and daughter opted for the Apple Crisp of which was anything but crisp. Very, very mushy and overpowering cinnamon galore. Yuk ! Again, the scoop of vanilla ice cream that came with it was very good. Our waitress was excellent ! So, all in all, not a bad experience. We will go back for sure. We hope that our next visit will raise our review to a 4 star experience. read more

Maybe in the parking lot. I should have known I was in for trouble when the appetizer came. It was Clams Casino and it stunk up the whole joint. My kids held there noses. I tried them but am seriously awaiting the food poisoning that's coming with this bad dish. All the while I looked down at the doorway of the kitchen that had a line of filth about 9 inches up the wall. For my main dish I ordered the seafood casserole which consisted of 5 scallops a small piece of scrod and 2 baked stuffed shrimp lightly dusted in breadcrumbs for $17. The breadcrumbs were hard to find. What happened to the casserole? It was just overcooked seafood in a dish. I would have washed it down with a ...
