Another PEI restaurant where the catch is about as fresh as it gets. The building sits right on the water in North Rustico, and the oysters here are harvested less than 200 feet away--served within hours of coming out of the bay. You can see the boats from your table, which tells you everything you need to know about the supply chain. The setting feels bright and coastal, with big windows framing views of the harbour and fishing boats coming and going. It's casual, welcoming, and always busy for good reason. We had local oysters, mussels, a lobster roll, and fish tacos. The oysters were among the purest we tasted on the island--clean, briny, and perfectly chilled. The mussels were tender and bursting with flavour, the lobster roll came with creamy potato salad (yes, I know, I keep talking about the potatoes--but it's PEI, and they deserve the attention), and the fish tacos were fresh and vibrant, even if they weren't the star of the table. Everything was excellent--not one standout dish, but a lineup of consistently great plates built on top-notch ingredients. This is a very uneven, much hyped restaurant that, if you play your cards right, can make for a solid meal. To have the best experience, get on the waitlist (see their website) well in advance, and avoid coming hungry. Whatever you do, don't go in the rain. Order a cocktail (the mule and Caesar are good choices), the seafood poutine, the chowder (yes really, both), the garden/ house salad, and maybe some mussels (they are ok, not great- mainly because they are often overcooked). Then head for dessert- whatever pie they have, you want all the options. Or, go hungry and expecting to be seated within hours, and do the whole app/entree/dessert thing. You'll likely be disappointed and a bit pissed at the big bill, and surprised at the dried out halibut/ flat seafood bubbly/ off tasting tuna tartare/ tang-less Caesar salad, and so on. No matter what the servers will be kind and the atmosphere sweet. Plates will be cleared promptly and blankets offered when the temps dip. I think this place could get to 5 stars and be worth the hassle with a bit more focus on the food. It's a shame to overcook quality seafood. It's odd that the oysters aren't consistently well shucked or even nicely briny like others in the same area. It's annoying that customers are left to stand in the pouring rain rather than offered the chance to line up in the warm entryway. A little more effort, maybe a little less ego?, would go a long way. read more

One of our top restaurants that we still remember from our trip this year. The weather was dismal and rainy all day, but the restaurant was absolutely charming and lifted our spirits. I loved the decor in the dining area, as it is in a large enclosed patio that is rustic and nautical. The staff are friendly and the food was amazing. After days of eating fried food, we were so grateful to find out that they don't fry their seafood here. Their pan fried haddock is batter but not deep fried, so the amazing flavors of the batter stays on the fish but isn't greasy at all. I also had the Seafood bubbly bake which was so creamy and delicious. We got a pack of their seafood seasoning to bring home so we could extend the 'visit' later. I would definitely come back to eat here again. Reservations highly recommended as they are popular with both locals and tourists alike. read more

Halibut was fresh caught that morning, and recommended by the waitress. It was amazing, like eating a perfectly cooked (fish) steak. Always come here when I visit the island. Food is always second to none. Atmosphere and service are always great. It is pricey but worth every penny and still not as pricey as the sub par food at the nearby all you can eat buffet. I will return again and again. Advice: it's very busy, so avoid peak times and join the wait list before you leave to drive here and you might be able to avoid the wait. When I came here in a Thursday night recently, we were a party of six and no wait list at 4:00pm when we departed (4:30 ETA) for an early dinner. 4:15 we checked again on the way and added to wait list and we were forth in line. 4:28 we got a text that our table was ready so we waited less than 1 min when we arrived at 4:30. They were busy at that time, but all six of us agreed that this was the best Meal by far on the island. read more

Food was alright not what I was expecting. Not happy with the service. We had our name at 1:30 on waiting list for supper which was staring at 4 pm and were told if we go back at 4 we can be seated right away. We were back sharp at 4 but almost whoever came in were taken inside or were sent to the pre restaurant (which I will explain at the end of my review) And after 25 min and asking 4 times and getting upset we were taken inside beside washroom . During the whole time we were asked only once to see if we need anything.we had salmon which had parasites .the lobster was ok but only half a lobster . Linguine was salty but ok.Food here is over rated.Oyster was good but lobster roll was cold we had better one in NB. The thing about this restaurant that was questionable was anyone no matter when arrived were told 40 min wait and they had a side open space that were offered to everyone to seat and eat /drink while waiting ,which we did and we paid 80$ already for 6 oyster(21$) a lobster roll and a beer. This place is full of people and they don't take reservation. We went there at 1:30pm on Wednesday and told the wait is about 40mins (they use yelp waiting system, and you can cancel it anytime), after all it's not so bad because we went to the beach nearby to kill time. We sat down and ordered mussels, chef selection Pasta with scallop and bacon, seafood chowder grill cheese for the kids, and blue mussel lager. Service is excellent, portion is great and lots of seafood considered the price is more expensive than others, but it is quite salty or rich maybe because they put a lot of spice together. 1 star is deducted from there. Steam mussel highly recommend, it's very fresh. View is gorgeous and I love deco inside the restaurant. read more
