I think her name was Diana Reah or something, I kept asking where my steak was and the cook would just point to the guy next to me. Wha?? I finally got a grilled cheese tossed my way an hour later. Thank dog for the friendly waitresses! And this one gal next to me let me have her pickle! That made my night. I wanted to take a pic, but I lost my phone at the fence. Every lunchtime there were wonderful alcoholic snowcones with weird and wonderful names that on the final day included a scrummy hazelnut and cream flavour, wow, just wow. The line was always fun with people entertaining you and spraying with water and sometimes making you earn your fare or get a spanking! Always with a party atmosphere people played on the halfpipe and decorated their "art therapy wall". The party went on into the late evening when the camp served fresh had tossed wood fired pizzas. PIZZA!, In the middle of the desert and way better than a dominos! They had drum bands, fire dancers and DJs keeping people there before the team to a well earned night out on the playa. My advice; go and go again :)

We travelled for almost 600 miles from Salt Lake City to get a taste of this pizza, was it worth it....? Find out. We travelled from the beautiful state of Utah jamming out to pop hits such as Justin Timerlakes sexy backs and Cheryl Crows First Cut is the Deepest, as we watched the Nevada desert pass by. Our RV was packed with Pasta Salad, el wire, bikes, fuming cans of gasoline, fruit snacks, 1 Colombian, 1 Mexican, 2 Americans and a conspiracy theorist. We travelled north towards Black Rock City, we had our last great meal hours ago ( would this be the last amazing meal before our return? ) Fast forward 3 days... we made it! Middle of the desert, everywhere people were eating ramen, spanking for pickles and bacon, candy, blow pops, hot dogs, sausages, pussy... people were eating crap everywhere, nothing amazing but nonetheless eating... I remember it like it was yesterday the night was chilly, the cobra was put into park and the lights to the city were on... I turned to Mary and said .." Do you smell that.....?" Marys response ..... "Fucken Pizza Bitches!!!" We found it!!! Out of the dust we saw the sign "Best Pizza In Town" the Dusty Pizza Cafe... The Dusty Pizza Cafe, while the cafe is rather small ( seats about 69k people ) it's ambiance is world class. Cute dining room checkered board and all, camp style chairs were very comfortable and the music had me feeling like I was dining in a world class Papa Ginos. Two servers both female wore cute little red vintage red skirts as if they bought them in the 70's. One of the servers pretty much served her boobies up with every slice of pizza, she also was drinking more wine than the pope while on shift. The pizza chefs really knew how to make a pie, each pie was made to order, delivered hot and crispy as it should be! Everything about the Dusty Pizza Cafe was 5 star. Self serve, bus your plates and utensils. Did I say the price is right? Yes. Popular items run out, then they are often replenished. Vegetarian and vegan options. The self serve lines run fast, no idling. But sit, relax and chat over a meal if you like. People tend to keep with their group, it's not that social, and people are exhausted. They are working on sustainability and had compostable bamboo knives, forks, and spoons. Sort your waste outgoing. This little cafeteria is partially powered by solar and batteries! Salad in the desert is a treat!

Since then, I've been promoted, and had the privilege of eating in for the whole week that I was working in Center Camp. Wow! What I had been missing! The thing that impressed me most (other than the overall ambience) was the incredible vegan option. It was closely guarded from roving carnivores, and you actually had to ask for it - but, man, was it good! Delicious, nicely spiced; really impressive. Highly recommended. Inshallah, I'll be back.
