I have been treated with acupuncture since I was 14 (so for 26 years) and I've lived in multiple countries and had several different holistic doctors over the years. (As well as traditional ones.) I have a M.Sc. and a PhD and I'm one of those moms that is very thorough when it comes to anything related to my health or that of my family. Irrespective of curricula and experience, a Traditional Chinese Doctor may or may not have the gift of feeling the points and understanding your body in a holistic way. That's a talent one is born with and Dr. D. Eisenman at Holistic Primary Care certainly has that gift. He is extremely knowledgeable as well, and his expertise and knowledge never cease to amaze me -- from every little muscle in your body to physiological and infectious processes, you name it, he is very studied and solid. He combines Thai massage trigger points with Chinese medicine and many other techniques. But going beyond that he has the ability to combine variables and understand what is going on in holistic way. I call him our miracle maker. He can fix whatever problem you have, even when you (or your traditional doctor) do not know what it is. He treats me since I moved to Miami -- for a boost in my defenses, for migraine, for back pain, for the flu every other Dr told you you'll have to be in bed for a week, for exhaustion after a business trip marathon, for thyroid issues, and I could go on and on. He also treats both my kids (8 and 12) and got my son's recurring lung infections to stop and helped my daughter get rid of a calcium deposit (Sever's disease) so that she could do sports again. Without antibiotics. Without albuterol for Asthma. Without cortisone or steroids. Several of my family members were treated here: for high blood pressure, to minimize the effects of Hashimoto's, for their lower back pain due to a damaged disc. Some of them are the type of person that would never go to a holistic doctor, and yet, they felt so much better that they kept going. There's so much I'm thankful for, that I have been delaying writing this review for two years to make sure I do not forget anything. It is like going to a high end resort spa - decor, music, candles, heated massage bed- along with the acupuncture. So it is emotionally, mentally, and physically rejuvenating. Katie brings another level to it with her caring and her ability to adapt the needle placement to changing emotional, mental, and physical issues. I started here with lots of physical issues that had happened all at once and the trauma of the two storms during this time of physical pain and medical issues. I had almost no energy and no appetite. This pain and symptoms had lasted for 4 months and physical therapy did not help. After 4 sessions with Katie, I was able to walk normally and with no pain in knee, no rib pain from costochondritis, and my energy was flowing again. I felt mentally and physically capable of getting out and enjoying things again. My energy is flowing. She gave me advice that I actually took because of her knowledge and her caring attitude and that has also made a big difference. I looked on Yelp as it is my Go-To search app during out of town adventures. I searched and read many Chiropractic reviews before calling Dr. D. One of my main criteria was to find a physician who attended a school that I felt was highly reputable educationally (e.g., having attended Parker or Palmer schools). The other criteria was to find a Chiropractor whom I trusted would not take advantage of the "moment" (me being in significant pain and being from out of town). As a fellow chiropractor I can tell you that they come in all varieties. Some have their heart in the right place while others can be $ mercenaries. It became obvious to me early in the process that Dr. D has a caring spirit. Had I felt otherwise, I would have turned around and walked out--and highly recommend the same for anyone seeking care. [As for this gentleman, if you are looking for a healing hand and spirit, he fits the bill completely.] ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE: As a chiropractor, one of my flaws is "self-diagnosing" myself. I went in thinking S-I joint issues--even tho I taught my wife how to perform a couple of tests on me that came up negative. Dr. D performed a series of tests and had other thoughts. After reviewing some x-rays, his evaluation of the images matched his Ortho findings. He adjusted my lower lumbar spine and worked on my psoas muscle. There was noticeable relief. I returned the following day. We discussed a previous injury to my knee which had notable scar tissue. He felt that may have played a role in my back pain as I had developed some compensatory movement in my gait. I had a Duh-moment as I had honestly never made that connection. But, he was spot on. At any rate, by the time he performed some manual therapy on it, my range of motion showed significantly noticeable improvement. Dr. D is well-educated, possessing great patient skills, insightfulness and tools in his toolbox for healing whatever ails you. I would highly recommend him to my family, friends and patients.
