Before I begin this review, I would like to point out that this review is for the listing for the Blue Diamond store located in C. Fortaleza 202 San Juan, Puerto Rico 00901. This store is actually the outlet store. The main store is located in C. Fortaleza 250 San Juan, Puerto Rico 00901, which is right next door. I shopped in both. After touring San Juan while on a shore excursion from the Carnival Celebration, my family and I both took a taxi to nearby diamond/jewlery stores. I had purchased for Mother's Day already a sapphire ring for mom, while we were in the Dominican Republic. I wanted to get her some more things because 1) Mother's Day was a few days away when we returned to Miami and 2) This was a huge trip for us. This was a celebratory trip for her beating Cancer. I came to the Blue Diamond Stores specifically because a special event on the Carnival Celebration mentioned that the Blue Diamond stores carry Glow of the Carribean Blue Topaz jewelry. This type of jewelry is unique because it glows in the dark, if enough light before shined into the stone. So we walked into the outlet store and looked specifically at the Glow of the Carribean Blue Topaz jewelry they had. My mom chose one of the necklaces and since I thought the price was right, I purchased it on the spot. It look absolutely beautiful and I can confirm it does glow. I took pictures of what it looks like before and during glow, check them out. She was ecstatic for the gift; I was happy purchasing it. The salesman I bet was happy too. We stopped by the shop the same day we were scheduled to leave for a week long cruise. I was on the hunt for an Omega watch to finalize my "watch wardrobe" (Rolex, Breitling and ??). I spoke with Gabriel and he was very helpful and informative. There was no pressure. I told them I don't normally buy on the same day I look especially when it is something at this level of $$ and if I had time and decided to pull the trigger on this I'd do it when we returned. Gabriel gave me his card and wrote down the watch model and price. Told me to have a good trip and that I could call whenever I got back. During the cruise I did take the opportunity to stop at a couple of shops that also sold Omega and I basically found that they all offer the same basic deal. The big difference is that if I bought the watch in San Juan I wouldn't have to worry about declaring a larger purchase and potentially have to pay some taxes. I even had one dealer offer a free Omega ball point pen and told me to ship the watch to avoid customs. I stewed on the decision and decided that if I was going to buy one I'd buy it after passing through customs. They usually don't even look in your bags but it made me feel more comfortable. I emailed the shop and let them know that I'd like to stop by but would be in a rush because of when they normally open and our scheduled plane departure early in the afternoon was a little tight. Their response was to open the store a half hour earlier to help me out. I thought that was very nice of them. We got off the ship, went to the airport and checked in our bags so we weren't hauling 200lbs of luggage in Old San Juan and then got a ride back to their shop. We got there exactly at the time they said they would open and the guys were waiting for us with the watch out on the counter. I ended up buying the next higher level Seamaster than what I had originally looked at a week before because I really liked the new face. They offered us water, juice and/or champaign while we were waiting for the watch to have 1 1/2 links removed for my wrist. I shared some of the stories about the other dealers throwing gifts at me to get me to buy and I told them why I chose not to go down that path. They ended up going into the back while I was trying the watch on again and gave me one of the pens regardless. It is a really nice pen. :) At the end of the deal I asked for some help to get a ride back to the airport and they took care of that too. I covered the tip at least. I was very happy with the transaction. Most of my watch acquisitions have been positive but this was by far the best. So based on that experience I'm sure that the next time we are in Puerto Rico and when it is my wife's turn to buy some jewelry we will most definitely be going back to Blue Diamond for round 2 of buying something... I don't even know where to begin. My husband and I walked into this jewelry store and fell in love! My husband has been in the market to upgrade my engagement/wedding set for years now. Last year we were "royally screwed" over by Diamonds International (we chose to give them another shot even though we were disappointed and screwed over back in 1999.) Anyhow......We came upon Blue Diamonds, while bumping around SJU before our Celebrity Cruise (where we planned to shop in St Thomas for my new ring/s, oh and BTW it was the last stop on a 7 day cruise, our $$ never made it to that island, lol) My husband was "window shopping" in the men's section and was greeted by Lillian, whom ultimately showed him a diamond wedding band he just "HAD TO HAVE", mind you a third one for him, before I have my second. The ring was gorgeous, I have to admit, but my reply to him was "you're not leaving this store with that, before you buy mine."!!! I was looking around and found a beautiful setting and I had been talking with Peter Lopez, turns out he is the loose diamond expert on premise and specifically has expertise in the "Hearts on Fire" brand of diamond. His knowledge and expertise was amazing, the entire staff were friendly and helpful, they couldn't have been better. We left with a his and hers, and for a reasonably fair price. The workmanship on both rings is very well done and we couldn't be happier or more proud of our purchase! I am excited to own a Hearts on Fire Diamond, I never thought my husband and I would be able to afford that quality and cut of a diamond larger than my original set. The store's management team, which includes Peter, worked with us on reasonable, temporary financing and I was able to "flaunt" my bling for the next 7 days on our cruise! I would give it a -5. I bought two pieces of jewelry that supposedly I was getting a great deal. After him showing me a watch at his other store. The employees are amazing. It is sad that the "owner" has the worst attitude of all. He over priced everything I.e. Monaco Tag Huer he said he will give -15% discount and it's still 1,500 over priced in a retail store state side. He said he would refund me my money for the two over priced pieces. I even paid him for the 15 dollar rezising and never got a refund. Stay away from this store. It's a scam and I'm sure if a REAL GIA or GCAL inspection was done in his store. Place is one of the worst places to shop..... I don't know where to start. I am a very big TAG and Omega owner/buyer and always buy my watches on the islands b/c of the duty free. I walked into this store with idea of spending 3,500-4,000 on a TAG.....store door was open so I walked into store and saw a couple of employees standing around doing nothing. Not a hello or can we help NOTHING....instead my family (mother, wife, and father) WHERE TOLD GET OUT WE ARE NOT OPEN COME BACK LATER....this was said by the owner/manger of store....not only did he tell us he walked us to the door and locked it like we are criminals....listen buddy my money is GREEN everywhere. DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!! There are a lot of great places to buy duty free else where (St.Thomas and Bahamas) are two of the best of watches. DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!!! Two years ago when my husband decided to upgrade my engagement ring we went to Blue Diamond and had a wonderful experience we saw lots of options and made our choice. I got a beautiful ring and was very happy. This year my husband wanted to buy me diamond studs so we naturally went back to Blue Diamond. Gary, Eric and Nash were all still there and the experience was as good as it was 2 years ago. Never felt pressure and again they showed us lots of options we just had to decide which one best fit our budget. Next time we are in San Juan, Blue Diamond will be the first place we go. read more

Do Not Trust Blue Diamond! My fiance and I got engaged in Puerto Rico and decided it would be very meaningful if we got the engagement ring from there also. We went to Blue Diamond and worked with Peter. We ended up buying an engagement ring from with his help. At first we loved it and loved the experience we had with Peter and the store. Three weeks after we bought the ring the band cracked. As you can imagine we were both very upset. We took it to two places to get it reappraised one of which was certified gemologist. Erica the customer service representative at Blue Diamond, appraised the Mocha diamond with a clarity of SI when it was really GH/I1, Blue Diamond said the ring had 1.26 ct of white diamonds when in actuality it had .62 ct, lastly Blue Diamond said the band was made of 14K white gold when in fact it was 18K. We did not have it resized but the band ended up with a total of 9 cracks in it with one going all the way through. When we called Blue Diamond and informed them of our problem and sent pictures of what happened, Erica told us that we would have to wait for Eric, the manager, to call us back. When we got in touch with Eric he told us that customer service had to handle it (Erica). We kept going back and forth, our conversation ended with Eric informing me that it sounds like I have "buyer's remorse." Our problem has not been solved, we would like to return the ring because they lied on a legal document, we were not given what we were told, and the store does not seem to care about keeping their customers happy or meeting their needs. I would not shop with this company. I will keep everyone updated on what happens next. I hope that they will refund the ring and make things right. read more

Customer service is terrible. If you buy and take it with you hope you never need customer service. I paid in advance to have an engagement ring made and was promised it would be 4-5 weeks maximum. It now has been two months! They never reach out to you to let you know what the real status is. You must pursue them which is a lot of fun as you can imagine. I was promised a second time the ring would be finished on June 5th and I would have pictures before I climb on another plane to go get the ring. Again, nothing...no pictures, no updates NOTHING!! An engagement ring is very special and unfortunately Blue Diamond has made this a very un- special experience. We are asking for our money back and to do what we should have done in the first place, bought from a reputable jeweler where we could see, touch and take the final product and then pay for it, not pay in advance and hope someday to get the ring. We are contacting Disney Fantasy Cruise Line who suggested we buy from Blue Diamond. It will be interesting to see what Disney says about this...unless they get a cut of the revenue as well. We were planning on purchasing other items from this shop but will not be doing so. Our bad...do not make it your bad!! read more
