    On the maiden voyage

Bought a Twilight Signature from ExploreUSA RV in Denton, TX. This is our fifth RV and the by far the best buying experience - smooth and painless. Salesman Cliff was very helpful and managers Chad and Brent were good to work with. Fair value on trade in. Worked with the Service Department a couple of times - once on pickup and once for a minor issue discovered on maiden voyage. Both times we received GREAT SERVICE!!! Ben was very easy to work with and he fit the repair activities around our schedule.

    Happy campers!

Service department is slow and non-communicative but will try to upsell you on stuff that doesn't even need to be done.

From the beginning, there were serious concerns around transparency. I was upsold on parts that were already installed on the unit--this was later confirmed, and I had to go through the process of getting one of those items refunded. I was also pushed to purchase a solar setup that was already installed on the RV. These are not small oversights--they are major red flags. The most serious issues, however, have been with financing and payments. I was explicitly told that McClain's would be covering initial payments due to delays on their end. Not only did they fail to properly execute those payments, but I later learned from my lender that attempted payments were declined, resulting in my account being placed in a past due status. To prevent further damage, I made the payment myself--only to then be contacted by McClain's attempting to collect from me directly for that same payment. I was also asked to reimburse them for payments they claimed to have made, which, according to my lender, were never successfully processed. On top of that, McClain's failed to properly finalize our financing application, which resulted in additional, unnecessary credit pulls. Our credit was hit again, and our score dropped another 30 points due to an issue entirely on their end. What's most disappointing is that I have now asked--multiple times--for clarification and resolution on why I was being asked to make payments for amounts that were never actually paid, and I have provided proof to support this. I have yet to receive a response. At this point, the lack of accountability is just as concerning as the mistakes themselves. This situation should have been handled immediately and professionally. Instead, I was given no clear communication, no statement, no explanation--just a demand for payment with no runway and no acknowledgment of their errors. They allowed the account to fall past due due to their failure to finalize and process things correctly, and rather than going above and beyond to make it right, they have left me to deal with the consequences. To add to this, my husband is a disabled veteran, and this situation has created completely unnecessary stress and strain that no family should have to deal with--especially over issues that were entirely preventable. This entire experience has been disorganized, stressful, and completely unacceptable. It has required hours of my time to correct mistakes that should never have happened, and it has put my credit at risk due to their lack of accountability and follow-through. At no point should a customer be put in a position where they are cleaning up financial errors made by the dealership. I would never recommend McClain's to anyone. Proceed with extreme caution. If this is how they handle financing and customer accountability, I would strongly advise anyone to think twice before trusting them with a purchase of this size.

While we were inside the trailer, a forklift driver began honking repeatedly. When we came outside, he was yelling at me about where my car was parked, even though there were no clear signs or barriers indicating I couldn't park there. I spoke with management about the situation. They were polite, but no meaningful action appeared to be taken. After that, the same employee continued watching us closely and following us around the lot, which made us uncomfortable. The situation escalated further when he approached me again, yelling and acting in an aggressive and confrontational manner. Based on his behavior and the way he approached me, I felt like he was attempting to provoke a physical altercation. At that point, there was no management present to step in or de-escalate the situation. As a potential customer prepared to make a major purchase, this was unacceptable and caused me to leave and decide not to do business here. I will say the parts department was excellent--Preston was professional and helpful from the first call through pickup. Unfortunately, the overall experience with other staff and lack of management response overshadowed that. UPDATE: After posting my original review about my experience here, I noticed a sudden surge of five-star reviews that do not reflect what I personally experienced. I encourage anyone considering doing business here to read through the reviews carefully and look for detailed, specific customer experiences versus short or vague praise. My experience was serious enough that I felt unsafe -- an employee escalated the situation to the point where it nearly became physical, which is completely unacceptable in any business setting. I'm leaving this update so potential customers can make an informed decision and not rely solely on star ratings.

Also, before you rent the RV, you should check with your insurance and see if they would cover road hazard for and RV (AAA wanted me to purchase an "RV" upgrade, even thou I don't own the RV). Of course that for 30 years or something. I'll be paying on this until I die. Then 8 months later I wanted to trade it in for a bigger one and they'd only offer me $5000 trade in for it! And that's only if I upped my total to $30,000! If I wanted to spend 30 grand I'd just buy a small house! We waited at the place for EIGHT solid hours after having an appointment at 1pm we didn't actually leave until 8 pm to purchase the RV. During that 8 hours they were supposed to install a 7 pin wiring harness and braking system on my car, which they then said they couldn't do because there was "something wrong with my cars wiring", although there wasn't. They tried to charge me $500 more to "fix" it. They never installed the braking system which CAME with the purchase of my RV. I had my neighbor get the 7 pin working for $100. But still can't get the braking device installed by Camping World (which was included with my highly inflated purchase) because I keep getting the run around. AND there was sewage in the black tank when I received it although there's a huge sticker on the toilet saying "every" unit is emptied and sanitized before being sold... riiiight. There's a missing shade on one window, the screen in the emergency exit window doesn't fit, it's not even the right size, many of the interior lights don't work, they flicker and go out. The door doesn't latch right, I have to use a screwdriver sometimes to close it. Beware. Check EVERYTHING and be especially leery of last minute "problems" that cost additional.

It is perfect for my situation and had all of the upgrades and the build was way better than most other brands I had looked at. Chance did a great job getting me the specs and information to make sure it was the right fit for my truck and was able to quickly answer my concerns. We then got to the not so fun part, negotiations. I had a budget and this unit was well above it, but Chance introduced me to Sydney, the sales manager. Sydney took the time to get to know my situation as well as getting to know me. I felt like both of them cared about what was important to me and we came to a good price that was fair and we made sure I had all of the accessories and hitch to make sure my RV expreience was setup for sucess versus headaches when you are out in nature with no resources. After we closed on the sales price and signed the deal, the service team headed by Steven was another positive experinece. Steven with his NY accent, which I loved, walked me through all of the ins and outs of the new rig. He gave me the run down of storing and winterizing the rig as well as tips and tricks to help make my experince setup for success. I did have an issue with the installation of my washer dryer combo but Nick, the owner, steped up and made it right by giving me some consessions and that made the issue feel less negative. He gets 5 stars and I'd work with him, if only he'd go to work for a reputable company... I told him as much once everything came to light. Things were going so well until we sat down to talk numbers. I had done a little research in advance so when they tried to pitch me on paying them $70k for a $40k camper I immediately had red flags go up, but wanted to give them a chance to make a reasonable offer, they didn't. They included all kinds of outrageous fees like $1500 for a "1 hour walk-thru of my 2025 brand new camper including them fixing anything that's in disrepair." I did question this at the time. "That makes no sense. Why would I need to pay to fix anything on a BRAND NEW camper? As far as the technician walking me through... I'm happy to pay $150 for that 1 hour service, but not $1500." The slick young sales manager in his Gucci belt doubled down and said it was a thorough walk through... These guys are smoking crack in my opinion. They could have had a client for years and sold me multiple units. Instead they showed me their true colors before we ever got out of the starting blocks and I called them out. I will NEVER do business with them or give them another shot at my business. More so, as I told them, I will tell everyone I can to avoid them like the plague. I'm not alone as there's apparently entire Facebook groups devoted to how bad Camping World is to their customers.
