After a good run, I love a good cup of tea. After running the Rose Bowl Half Marathon, I took to Yelp to see if there was Blue Bottle in the area. And hark! To my surprise.. there was! Woo hoo! Whenever I travel to larger cities (I live in Oregon), Blue Bottle is always a favorite. This Pasadena location did not disappoint. Our large group had wrapped up a meal at a taco place nearby (mmm), and were walking around Old Town. A few folks needed a restroom, and I saw an opportunity/excuse to visit Blue Bottle. First off, their restroom was convenient, which is always important. But the coffee, as usual, did not disappoint. I tried one of their featured drinks, and it had a lot of flavor. Today they asked me to stay outside with my dog, the inconsistency of service and rules is unfortunate as I've come to view blue bottle as my staple. I guess I won't be coming here anymore until they become dog friendly, a place like this in old town, one of the most dog friendly areas in Pasadena, they really should consider the fact that old town is home to humans and dogs. Wow!! This place is delicious! High quality drinks ! The espresso is strong but so tasty. My new favorite is the sweet latte of course w oat milk ! Friendly knowledgeable staff! While they are a "chain" the coffee is pretty high quality, so for the same price point expect a smaller liquid volume. We actually saw some coffee products on their website but wanted to see the items in person. We saw they have some cold brew kits which is a great gift for a coffee fiend. The had them in stock and the staff showed me how they work. There's a bar seating area and some small individual sized tables inside and larger tables outside to enjoy your drink. Parking is available in the city lots but they charge now, I believe $1 for 2 hrs. There is metered street parking but not on fair oaks. Tasty, but different. - Conqueror's Deduction - I've tried the same cappuccino (w whole milk) at many BB locations - the first amazing cup of cappuccino at BB got me into the coffee world. It made me think coffee was actually tasty, though I was never a coffee person. I'm a certified sommelier and now coffee snob who can recognize the BB coffee taste with confidence. That's how much I love BB. I'm the finicky one who can recognize the slightest change on my favorite item when the restaurant changed the ingredients or cooking methods. That's how much I dedicated to good food and drinks. It's my passion. Though I've tried over 60 other coffee shops (cappuccino w whole milk and more), no one else can offer the same consistency throughout the branches like BB. Taste quality is high, too. That's what I love about BB. However, I'm losing a bit of the confidence in BB due to the last 2 locations that failed to offer the same consistency (out of our dozen BB trials). I didn't wanna lose the confidence in BB anymore, so I was hesitant to come here. But my coffee snob convinced me to give a shot... This is a bit mixed feeling.... My cappuccino was tasty. But it was a bit different from usual BB's cappuccino. Typical BB's cappuccino is more "creamy " than "coffee" taste. Coffee taste is typically a lot milder covered by the creaminess. This one was more coffee taste than creaminess, which isn't usual for BB. Most locations offer the same, rich creaminess. This is something I'd NOT expect from BB. Barista makes big differences on coffee. My barista was skilled. Did I get the usual BB coffee? No. I had to talk to barista how I felt about it and the area manager joined the conversation. I'm super confident in how BB coffee should taste like and wanted them to offer the same, great coffee wherever I go. I know I'm too finicky. After dozens of coffee trials, I come to BB to get THE coffee. If I don't get that BB taste, why should I come to BB?! I know it's not easy to offer the same quality throughout the branches. But if you tried dozens of BB branches like us, you'll know why we felt this differently.... Now I'm really losing my passion for BB. This being the closest Blue Bottle Coffee location that was near my apartment, it was usually super easy to drop by, find parking in the Green Street parking structure, get a coffee and go without having to pay for parking as its free the first 90 minutes. During pandemic times, they have a set up where they take precautions with plexiglass and I had gone early in the AM so there was no line, there was maybe one person outside their open outdoor patio area. I was literally just there to grab and go as I had things to do. Crystal BLUE persuasion, Mmm-hmm! It's a totally new Vibration! So easy to find, just look to your soul and open your mind. Open it up with unique flavors that make that natural dopamine flow through your body. I started off with two of their recommended drinks and they were on point. The first was was the shakerato which came with muscovado, milk and a shot of espresso. So anyone who enjoys molasses in their drinks will definitely love this and this was my first time having this and I really enjoyed it. Second on the radar was their seasonal winter spice Nola that was accented with Star Anise spice and it added a little boldness to the drink but what was really and I mean really interesting is that the strong flavor of black liquorish was coming through. Now I'm not a big fan of that flavor of liquorish but it really worked with this drink. Man I've been missing out on this all this time but not anymore! I used to frequent the Blue Bottle location near the GCM in Downtown and now, I am extremely grateful to have this location so close to me! Blue Bottle is - hands down - my favorite place to get coffee. Why? Solely for the iced New Orleans coffee with oat milk. Slightly bitter, slightly sweet, a deliciousness that dances along your tongue and teases you to come back for more. The ratio for everything is just right and the flavors are so well-balanced. There are some seats inside (2 table and a small counter ) and some tables outside at the patio area. They have milk alternatives. I alway get ice Cappuccino with oat milk and a Liege Waffle. Medium Roasted coffee + the right ratio of oat milk + the right coffee pulling = Blue Bottle... If you are hungry, they have some pastries...scones, croissants, waffles, sandwiches & more! The employees here are friendly! Especially the lady that is always by the register and making coffee and waffles. (I came here around 11:22 am) I don't know her name ..I will ask next time I come in. She always smiling and has a happy face. We happen to walk by this little coffee shop with a bit of a hunger for something small to eat. Luckily for us they have a few vegan options. The potato galette was unfortunately sold out so we tried the lemon tea cake instead and It was delicious! It was small but packed great flavor and was very soft. I was so stoked when I found out Blue Bottle opened next door to me in Pasadena! Blue Bottle isn't your typical coffee shop like Starbucks or Coffee Bean, it's a true, chill, laidback, mellow music type of coffee shop known for their incredible coffee beans. Menu is small and straightforward; and every drink selection is one size to make it very simple. $5 for a well deserved cup of coffee. Personally I always go for a latte a or a cold brew (Blue Bottle is the only place I will ever order a cold brew so that says a lot already). What keeps this coffee going strong is that Blue Bottle has stayed true to the coffee culture unlike other coffee shops. Their beans really are organic and the coffee is brewed in elegant glass containers imported from Japan and afterwards slowly hand-poured into individual drip filters. This place is a must try! So excited that Blue Bottle has made it's way to Pasadena! The interior is consistent with the clean white and simple aesthetics of the brand. It's a pretty small space with a small number of tables and counter top bars. Love the outdoor patio space, so would definitely come back with a book to read next time. Didn't see too many outlets though. Parking! If you come on a non-busy hours, there's plenty of street parking. There's also a first 90 minute free lot around the corner on Green. Happy that Blue Bottle finally opened at a closer location to where my in-laws live but somewhat sad to see the old Coffee Bean gone. They are at a prime location where they should do very well. I tend to usually get an espresso but lately have been getting their macchiato because I deem the espresso a bit sour and the milk in the macchiato helps balance out the sourness. This location just recently opened and the line wasn't too long but we still waited a good 10 minutes for our drink which was way too long for a macchiato. Hopefully with time and more training, the employees will be able to speed up their process. read more

This small cute shop has the best cubed ice and delicious iced coffee. I got the Nola Iced coffee which is always smooth and rich without ever being burnt or sour. Smooth ice coffee is honestly hard to find but this one is really good without needing to be too sweet. Workers will describe their drinks accurately and offer help willingly, we love that. I wish the cup was bigger so mentally I'd drink it slower but quality is great so I can't complain. It's the treat of coffee you don't get often. Parked in the lot next door, you can enter on Green Street and try for one of their interior 15 minute parking spots that are usually available. If not the lot has free 1 hour parking in any regular spot. read more
