I'm normally based in the US (Boston/nyc) to be exact...and I was in Sydney visiting family. I thought it be a great time to check out this Japanese salon as it was so highly rated on some list and gee how stupid I was. This salon, or at least my experience, was pathetically miserable. It was a 23 min haircut, and for a salon of this caliber I would expect more time taken, as I basically got my head shaved and poorly done if that was the main purpose. Not once did the hairdresser ask me what I wanted and when I expressed it it was dismissed. When he got out a buzzer and buzzed my mid length hair on one side of my head I didn't even know what to do anymore. Another complete lapse in service...was not showing me how the back of my head was done...which he didn't until I asked and he only showed me one side. It got to a point where I would not trust him to fix it so I just left. I understand that service in Australia is more laid back but to not have an ounce of professionalism in a salon of this level is shameful. It is pathetic to have this salon on a top hairdresser in Sydney list...and I would hope an improvement occurs or the list is revised and more attention is payed to the actual treatment of customers. I also understand that people have bad days and sometimes hate their jobs...but when the job concerns other people there is an obligation to your company and the job itself. I got my hair done twice here and it was amazing both times! I have very thick black Asian hair and it's hard to find a salon that understands how to work with my hair. After a botched dye job, Chika was able to save my hair and the cut and dye were fantastic. The stylists are very honest if they do not think they can achieve something. I went back a second time to get my hair dyed pink and it was fantastic. I've always wanted magenta hair and Mao achieved just that. It's an expensive place but I've never left a salon excited about my hair twice. read more

This is the first time ever I heard the word "UGLY" that someone said to me, especially from a hairdresser, who supposes to deliver the good service and use polite words. At the beginning I ask the guy called Chika to design a hair style for me, but he refuse to do so. I was so confused why a hairdresser can't design a hair style to customer requirement. And he started talking and explaining and he won't stop from it. I felt very tired of listening his repeated words. And said, shall we start? Then he stopped and finally started to cut hair. He's a really stubborn and unpleasant person... The hairdresser Chika noticed my dark hair is growing out from my coloured hair. He said you should fix your grown-up hair from coloured hair, as it's UGLY to be honest. WTF... Chika should really understand and use the proper polite English words. Overally he delivered me with an unpleasant experience. As a big hair salon, you should really notice your staff's attitude towards customer as if they feel bad about the service they won't come again just like me. When I read so much negative comments about Chika, not suprising... Please stop recommending the Master hairdresser of chika, he is just average level for me to be honest. read more

I had my hair done in Blu Creativity a few weeks ago with a Group On voucher, which was for a cut and full head of highlights (blonde). I haven't written a review about a salon before but I couldn't believe the service I received here. Normally, I would have my colour done and then hair cut, but my hair was cut first - and it was a dry cut. He just sat me down and didn't wet my hair, didn't put any layers in it when I asked him too, It took him maybe 15 seconds to do. He wouldn't cut my fringe for me either. Then on to the highlights! I should have left after the dodgy haircut. I told him I always get three shades of blonde put in my hair. He said no, he would only do one for me since I was "only" a GroupOn customer but assured it would have the same look. As I said, I should have left at this point. Long story short, my hair went yellow the colour of Lisa Simpson, I'm not sure if this Japanese Hair Salon had not experienced doing blonde hair before but the stylist told me he had worked for Toni & Guy in London before...! Went there last year for the first time to do a colour hair treatment ...and I will never go back there again... the haircut is average ...I wasn't happy with the expensive price tag and service that I received ..... I told the hair stylist, Chika I want to dye my hair into darker brown colour, which he said he understands...but instead of hair dye, I got a hair highlights instead ... The hair stylist seems to be full of himself as well ... bragging about he works all around the world...Tony & Guy and all that ...which I am not fully interested.....Personally, I don't think he really listens and understands what the customers want and need......and I don't feel the business care and value its customer .... at least not in my personal experience....
