This is a nice pocket park that is one of seven parks in a chain called the Park Avenue Chain of Parks. There is metered street parking on the streets surrounding the park and within a reasonable walking distance. It is named for William Bloxham, the first Leon County native to serve as Florida governor.
This is not a very big park and is a very thin, long park that spans a block. This park is in very good shape and is maintained by the City of Tallahassee Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Affairs. It primarily consists of a long brick paved walkway that runs down the center of it, with benches placed along each side to sit. There is a brick circular area off to the side that encircles a large tree. That area has benches facing out from the tree looking at the circular walkway. You will also find a historical marker honoring "Leon County's American Revolutionary War Soldiers". This is a straightforward park with what you see is what you get. The shady canopy of live oaks trees that you will find throughout the park are amazing and very picturesque.
Even though this is a perfect park to host special events, this park's main value is it being a chill spot. It does not have much to offer outside of its nature views and paved walkway. This park does provide visitors a nice place to just sit back and relax. Being that this park is part of a chain of parks, you can bounce back and forward between parks, which is nice. You visit whatever park depending on your needs are at the time. read more
