Specialties
Each of our doctors is an audiologist, but what sets BNA apart is our personal experience with hearing change. One of our audiologists wears hearing devices, and the other two have immediate family members with hearing challenges. We are not just medical experts. We live it. We believe this unique understanding shines through in our naturally patient focused approach. We are hear for you.
History
Established in 1990.
Bloomington Normal Audiology was founded by Drs. Deb Pitcher, Walt Smoski and Curt Tannahill as a center for excellence in diagnostic and rehabilitative care for persons with hearing loss.
In 2012, the practice was purchased by long-term employee Dr. Natalie McKee, and continued to set the bar for audiological care in Bloomington-Normal. In early 2016, after several years of growth, the practice moved from its original location on Eastland Drive to its current, larger, more accessible, and more patient-friendly home on Eldorado Road.
Under Dr. McKee's leadership, BNA has stayed committed to its purpose that people always hear the most important sounds of their lives, and continues to pursue its vision of creating an environment where patients embrace hearing technology, not shy away from it.
In July 2019, BNA was voted Bloomington Normal's Best Audiologists for the 5th consecutive year in the Pantagraph Readers' Choice Awards.
Meet the Business Owner: Dr. Natalie M.
Natalie M. McKee earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL and a Clinical Doctorate in Audiology (Au.D.) from Salus University. Her experiences include clinical settings in the Rockford area, Boys Town National Research Hospital in Omaha, NE and the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI. Dr. McKee purchased Bloomington-Normal Audiology in 2012, after 7 years of understudy with the original owner, Dr. Deborah Pitcher. Dr. McKee chose the field of Audiology following the diagnosis of her own hearing loss which allows her to better understand and assist the patients she sees. She enjoys working with patients of all ages and has special expertise in evaluating persons with dizziness/vestibular disorders. This has led to a partnership with Central Illinois Institute of Balance to provide a comprehensive assessment.
