Terrible customer service. Does not show up or call to say he is not coming. This happened on three separate times. I would call him after late each time asking if he is coming to install. Every day a different excuse. No show again today. Called to check. Once again an excuse. Told him I no longer want the blinds. read more

if I could give zero stars, I would. Gary quoted a project. We accepted the quote. He called to schedule the installation. But he never ordered the shades. He kept calling us and giving us excuse after excuse. He lies and would say -that oh my Installer isn't here. Oh, I got tied up, but he never placed the order. Wasted about four weeks of our time and then when I finally called his boss and informed her that he did not order it, he called back to say he was ""sorry.". He is not professional he doesn't stand by his word, and he makes excuses and lies which makes him someone you should not do business with. I hope whoever reads this hires someone else. read more

Ok so 11 years ago we moved to the country. I told my wife there was not a neighbor for several hundred yards and we didn't need window coverings. Nobody could see anything! She said that was true, no person could see in our windows, but we could really shock some Coyotes, Deers, or the other curious wildlife. Gary Mitchell was recommended to me by my parents and brother who had done business with him for the last 6 years. We built a new home, and spent thousands of dollars with Gary. We placed our initial order in June 2020, and due to understandable delays with our plantation shutters due to COVID, our shutters were finally installed in late September. Out of the goodness of Gary's heart, he offered to cover a couple of screens (due to the delays) that we also needed and took measurements in late September. Since then, I have been lied to numerous times and stood up at least 6 times when he said he would come out the same day to install them. He told me last fall that he had the screens and the next time that he headed my way, he would let me know, as they were in his way and he kept tripping on them in his garage. Come to find out, last weekend, he finally admitted to me that he had lied to me, he had never ordered them, and didn't have them. He said he was in tremendous financial distress and had a lot of problems. I gave him another chance since he came clean. He told me that he ordered the screens late last week, and they would be here this week. He promised me that he would call me Tuesday to check in, and they would be in by Thursday. I have tried all week to get a hold of him by text, calling his cell, calling his office...no response or return calls. I have given him every chance to come through on delivering the product promised. It feels like I am not important because I don't owe him money or my job wasn't big enough for him. Unfortunately, what Gary doesn't realize is that my husband and I are also business people in North Texas with a pretty big network all over the state and country. I had already referred him to our builder, several family members who have pretty sizable homes and building new homes in the area, a few realtors, and to another friend who just bought a nice home in Fort Worth. They will all know of my experience, and my recommendation of NOT using him as he seems to have to lie a lot, and doesn't follow through with what he says he will do. I have been at this for over 10 months. He has some serious problems, and I pray that he is able to figure them out. In the meantime, no one in my circle will use him again. It would be different if he would just tell the truth and communicate what was really going on. Also, I called the vendor that he said he ordered my screens through. They have no record of him placing the order, and have never heard of him. read more

I wish I had seen these reviews before hiring Gary for blinds! I got 3 quotes and his was around the same price as another company, but Gary definitely tricked me! He started off good. He put in the blinds on the first floor of my house. Most of them were automated and he and his installer did a great job! It took much longer than expected by about 30 days, but of course he mentioned the vendor that he used in McKinney was experiencing delays and there were supply shortages, etc. The problem really arose when it was time to get the upstairs blinds installed. All I got was 1 lie after another. He couldn't get into the building where the blinds were stored, his installer went to Houston because his mother in law was sick, he had to go pick up his trailer from Houston. It went on and on. This guys has to be the biggest liar and flake out there! He initially came to my house with lots of books of samples and everything and seemed like a legitimate business man. He really had me fooled! I would never recommend him and if you're reading this, please heed the warning because you will wait and wait and he will never show up. Received name of Gary with Blinds Unlimited from Debbie Huhn, a realtor here in my condo. The goal was to replace a burned out Lutron blind with a rechargeable blind. It was embarrassing. In the end I don't think he wanted the job but couldn't step up and man up and say it. From Dec to Feb I saw him 3 times, one of his workers once. Even agreed on price but he was so scattered he didn't take measurements then couldn't figure out which way the blind rolled. He canceled and rescheduled a total of 11 times in the 8 week period. Always with one excuse or another. His last one was he hired a third party to do it but they got "stuck" in Austin. Uh huh. Obviously I'm an idiot for believing him that he would actually do the agreed upon job but still. Just sad. After the last cancel he has not called me back to do a thing and Covid excuse can not be used here. Covid doesn't stop a phone call. read more

Gary installed our blinds in our new home 8 years ago. The job then was done in a timely and professional manner. Fast forward to 2021. We needed a few blinds replaced throughout the house that weren't working anymore. Appointments were scheduled, rescheduled and there was even a no show. Lots of excuses as to why he couldn't make it. I was on the phone constantly trying to get Gary to come out. He finally made it out to take our dysfunctional blinds in to be repaired. This took a couple of weeks and a lot of follow up on my part. He finally had them, but again, lots of cancelations on scheduled appointments. More excuses as to why. Finally had them installed but one blind was missing for my son's room. I had to constantly follow up, he no showed and kept rescheduling. Promised he would call. Several weeks later and nothing. At this point, I'll cut my losses and just get blinds for my child's room somewhere else. Thankfully, it's just one room.so if it doesn't match exactly, no big deal. Overall, very disappointed in the customer service and lack of professionalism. Nice. guy but extremely disorganized and scattered.. I can not reccomend this business to my friends and family. Just too inconsistent and requires so much work on thr part of the customer to even get Gary to come out to do what needs to be done. Very disappointed and sad. read more
