I stayed at Hotel Cezanne for six nights on the first floor above the lobby…read more Pros: - The breakfast is really good. There's a hot bar and a great cut-your-own-cheese charcuterie set up, as well as pastries. I was fine with a nut allergy by avoiding the pastries. The eggs are deliciously fluffy and I ate them with the cheeses and smoked salmon every day that it was available. - The WiFi is quite good. - The location is great, being near the city center and very walkable. - The rooms are well soundproofed. - Direct USB connections to the walls means that you can survive without a travel adapter (though I still recommend a universal adapter) - The showers got suitably hot! - Staff were overall pretty friendly. Cons: - The rooms are quite small. - Some amenities are missing that are normal at American hotels. Notably, there was no ironing board, conditioner, mini-fridge, or lotion. - I was charged a corkage fee of 5 EUR to open my own wine at the hotel lobby.. I guess I should just go to my room? Overall, great location and a quaint small room that's great for sleeping but not much else. The staff are great and very helpful. Awesome breakfast.

Holy sweetness, why oh why didn't I take photos yesterday? I'm not a fan of molecular gastronomy…read moreand prefer simple bold flavors, but hot damn this was another level of food, that is more art than cooking. E we had five course menu with three amuse bouché and two individual boules of bread with seaweed butter, hm m I said seaweed butter--and yes it was totally the bomb. Everything was done perfectly--and I don't believe in so called "perfection." But this meal was everything you'd aspire for. A perfect little piece of fish soaked only in salt and sugar. Wtf? Right? How good could that possibly be? As our server narrated the pre set menu, everything sounded lackluster and boring, but OMG--so NOT! In just a few morsels and bites per course, my mouth was flooded with intensity the likes of which I've never known. And yes, not to show off, but I've been to The French Laundry, Atelier Crenn and ... buy this, please please take my word for it: if you're in this area, please go. For five courses, it's a bit over a hundred bucks and a bargain. You can also get eight courses, which I regret not getting. The service is incredible--they genuinely care whether you like it or not, they are curious about your opinions. And they go was waaaay out of their way to explain what each course is, the chef's prices in making it, etc. apparently, the chef draws from inspiration the freshest local ingredients in season... and wait for it... his mood of the day. On the evening we went, his mood was "playful," and as an amuse bouchée, we got foie gras flan. Divine. Decadent. Also, we got oyster gelee and concentrated foie grad gelatin. Unforgettable. Btw, they are also open for lunch!
