Warning: THIS CHURCH IS A CULT…read more
Now, before I begin, I will say that I am a Christian man, and this review is coming from such a viewpoint.
So... unless you want to have your mind poisoned, be guilt tripped constantly, and feel like you're never good enough, do not come here. The leadership and congregation are manipulative, and will not stop until you give in and follow their agenda. Here are some things I noticed during my time there that are questionable at best, and nothing that I've seen at any other church I've gone to:
-Discouragement from building close relationships to "unbelievers", or folks from outside this church.
-Intolerance of those with beliefs that are different in the slightest. During a testimony, I heard a lady screaming at the top of her lungs about the "ungodliness" of all other churches and how this church is the "one true religion!".
-Curiously enough, you're considered "youth" until you're married. Since I am not yet married, I was placed here despite being in my twenties. There were folks from the ages of 13 all the way to 30 in this group. I've felt sickened by the manipulative and twisted things that have been said to the adolescents of this group... those poor kids...
-Just a little thing, but they turn wearing jewelry into a huge thing; apparently, jewelry is "ungodly" and to them it means that you think you're better than everyone else, no matter how modest the piece... kind of ironic that they'd preach about arrogance when they think they're better than all of the other churches out there.
So, in short... I would discourage anyone from coming to this church, especially you parents out there. They will try everything in their power to indoctrinate your children and make them feel like they're not good enough. Folks come to church for fellowship, faith, and comfort, not those aforementioned points.
