I've had two home births with Sue and I recommend her to anyone who wants a home birth. Her experience and knowledge are unmatched, and she always gave me the confidence I needed. After a not so stellar experience with the local birth center for my first baby, I was so thankful to have Sue. I never felt rushed, and she always made me feel like my concerns were valid. When I had my first baby with Sue, I did start bleeding a lot after the baby was born, but Sue handled it without panicking or making me panic. The second home birth went really smooth and no issues. My two boys born at home have been so healthy and I honestly can't say enough good things about Sue! read more

Words won't be able to express my appreciation or gratitude towards our midwife Sue Gill. When my husband and I decided on a home birth we were recommend Sue as a midwife from a well trusted friend who had gone through the process with her. There was an instant connection and we knew she would be the best fit for our growing family. Not only is Sue warm hearted, trustworthy and reliable, she is extremely good at what she does. Here are some numbers if you are more of a factual person. Sue has attended over 700 home births and out of those her hospital transport for c-section rate is about 3%. Hospital rates are about 35% or greater. Holy smokes isn't that incredible. That is a ton of healthy babies that she has successfully brought into this world providing not only the mamas but also the families with a tremendous amount of love and support. An added bonus is Sue is always accessible via text or calls for any questions or concerns that may come up. Also, I highly recommend the documentary( the business of being born). Extremely informative and was another added bonus on why a home birth was best for our family. I can't forget to mention I had the most caring and supportive doula Tessa alongside with Sue. I know I forever have a friend and am over the moon thankful for everything she has done not only for me personally but also for our family. read more

When it comes to midwifery care and home birth, there's just no better than Sue Gill. My husband and I had planned on interviewing many different midwives for our first baby to try to find the right fit. Sue was the first we met with and when we walked out we both agreed we didn't need to meet anyone else! She is so incredibly knowledgeable and wise, with tons of experience under her belt (which explains why she's got a constant handful of midwives-in-training on her team). She is so comfortable and confident in natural birth and your body's ability to birth your baby that you can't help but feel at ease in her care. I looked forward to every prenatal visit with her and her team. She addresses every aspect of your pregnancy - your physiology, baby's position (which she nails every time with a simple fetoscope and a few little palpations... it is seriously impressive), nutrition and supplements, emotional and mental wellbeing... everything. It never feels rushed and it's always a good time. She's straight-forward and honest and will tell you what you need to hear, because she truly wants the best outcome for you and your baby. She's so in tune with maternal and fetal health that she caught onto some subtle things that no one else did, early on, and helped me address them from the get-go - which helped us avoid a lot of complications that would have come up later. But birth is a whole other thing entirely. Birth (especially for your first) can feel so unknown and overwhelming and it's easy to get caught up in it (for moms and dads both!). But Sue's calm confidence made all the difference in the world. Despite my (unusually!) long and difficult birth, she had SO many tricks up her sleeve and is so well-versed in everything from techniques to move baby's position to homeopathics and other natural remedies, when to rest and when to walk, different positions to labor in.... etc. Having my baby at home was incredibly important to me, and Sue tirelessly (for 36 hours!) did literally everything possible to make sure that happened for us. And after all that work (i'm sure she was exhausted!!) she climbed up next to me on the bed, took my face in her hands, and told me, "I AM SO PROUD OF YOU!!!" That memory still makes me tear up! She is a personal hero of mine, and I don't say that lightly!! As if that that wasn't enough, she was by my side for the first week of my little girl's life as we struggled really hard through establishing breastfeeding. She worked closely with us on getting the latch and positioning down, brought us lots of helpful breastfeeding tools, and talked me through and encouraged me in one of the most difficult things I've done (seriously, I thought birth was hard...). She has been there for me any time I've had a question, a doubt, or a worry, from the time we started with her. And even now, my little girl is 2.5 and we live out of state - and she is still the first person I think of to ask questions, run things by, etc. She is STILL always there for us without hesitation. I'm expecting my second baby now. She was literally the first person I told! My husband and I honestly sat down together as soon as we found out to see if it was feasible to either go stay in California during my birth month or fly her here for the month... in the end it just wasn't doable financially and we've found someone locally, but there is seriously no one like Sue. SO - if you've made it through my novel (!), and you know you want an incredibly experienced, knowledgeable, hands-on, confident midwife that will and help you have a safe, successful birth and forever feel like family, look no further. (And yes, there are plenty of other great midwives in OC, but chances are really good that she trained them herself.) ;) read more

Where do I even begin with Sue? She is so knowledgeable, passionate, and incredible at her work. I just delivered my second baby with her and she is like family to us. She is always available anytime I have questions and is so invested in her clients. We love you so much, Sue! I can't imagine anyone else delivering our babies! read more

The birth of my daughter was the best experience and it was because of Sue and Blessed Beginnings Midwifery. After six months with my former OBGYN, my husband and I were extremely dissatisfied with our prenatal care. I was adamant about having a birth without any drugs or interventions and I was feeling doubtful that it was possible with the path we had taken. So we started to research other birth options and midwives. When we came across Sue, we knew right away that she was perfect for our family. She is straight forward, intelligent, has years of experience, and is completely devoted to the families and babies she helps bring into the world. She is the most authentic person I've ever known. And to solidify our decision, her references were overjoyed to recommend her services. We started prenatal care with her late in the game but she is a very efficient practitioner and caught us up with no issue. Each prenatal visit was detailed, personable, and involved both my husband and me in the entire experience (he made this baby too, you know.) It was actually the first time my belly was touched and measured during these visits. And every time we had questions, she always educated us about all our options and allowed us to chose what was best for our family. Her midwifery is very family- and parent-centered. One of the best parts about having Sue through this journey was how easy it was to communicate with her. If I had a question about anything, she was one phone call or text away and she was quick with her responses. She is also very resourceful and has an amazing team of professionals she trains and partners with at her office, Backs, Babies & Bellies. The last couple months of my pregnancy, I felt truly taken care of. Most importantly, I felt heard. Sue and her team listened to how I wanted to give birth. And though there is always a chance plans can change, she supported my decisions, fully knowing what I was capable of and what her team was capable of. The birth of my daughter was amazing. After weeks of prepping us for labor and setting up for a water birth, we used all her advice as contractions started. She arrived quickly, set up with her team of student midwives (Tessa and Kimberly), helped me focus through each contraction, and helped deliver my healthy baby. She gave my husband and I time to embrace our new addition as their team cleaned up. Within a short few hours, Sue and her team took my baby's and my vitals and measurements, stitched me up, made an herbal perineal wash, created weeks worth of padsicles, prepared my placenta for smoothies, and taught us some baby basics. For the next three days, we did not have to leave the house for any check ups. Sue and Tessa came to us to do more measurements, check our vitals and my stitches, and help me master how to breastfeed. For weeks postpartum, we've been taking our daughter to the chiropractor (Dr. Brittney Cicon) she teams with. And even though we don't have an appointment with her, Sue still checks my daughter and I with each visit and even helps our daughter during her adjustments. She goes above and beyond for her families. Sue provides a whole package deal, caring for you before and after your pregnancy and the birth of your baby. My husband and I are so in awe of her and view her as part of our family now. She is one of the most important people in our daughter's life. We are forever grateful for her and all that she does for us. Without a doubt, Sue will be our midwife again in the future. We highly recommend her! read more

Sue is absolutely amazing. I used her for both my homebirths and have to say that I actually miss our pre and postnatal visits after my babies were born (you probably won't hear that about a OBGYN office). I couldn't have asked for a better midwife and midwife team. I suffered a very traumatic hospital birth with my first born and when I was pregnant again I knew I wanted everything to be different this time around. Sue is exceptionally knowledgeable and caring; you can tell the minute you meet her. She spent as much time as I needed at prenatal visits, was always prompt about seeing me (no 45 min OB waits!), and available outside of appointments whenever I had additional questions or concerns. I never felt rushed at appointments and even spent extra time just chatting and enjoying her company. When I was dealing with insurance issues she fought alongside me and gave me a lot of encouragement. She is as hands-on or as hands-off as you would like her to be. All control is in the mother's hands with loving support and information from Sue to help you make the decision of your choosing. I went over my estimated due date with my baby and delivered on the morning of my 42nd week within 3 hours of feeling my first wave of contractions. Sue and her team were there quickly and offered silent, hands-off support like I wanted. It felt like just my husband and I as I worked through the last 45 minutes of my labor and pushed. I wasn't touched or spoken to unless I asked and my body just pushed out my baby. I was able to pick her up out of the water on my own like we talked about. Having Sue there was more than just having a healthcare provider, she truly embodies the spirit and nature of a midwife ("with the mother"). I ended up paying completely out of pocket for Sue and I would do it again for the amount of support, care, and overall well-being of myself and my baby that she provides. It was a phenomenal and healing experience. read more

I found Sue and Blessed Beginnings Midwifery while searching for a VBAC provider for my second birth, back in 2006. As of this summer (2013), she has helped me birth three of my four children! Sue is an amazing midwife. She is kind, laid back, knowledgeable, experienced, calm, and gentle. She takes plenty of time to get to know you and care for you in your specific situation, every time. Appointments last an HOUR, not the hurried five minutes of your typical OB office visit. I always look forward to my appointments with Sue because she feels like a friend and I can talk to her about anything. Sue is very relaxed at your home during a birthing time. She stays in the background and lets you do your thing, checking progress or heart tones when necessary. She is also extremely calm and quick in a difficult situation. My 4th baby got his shoulders a bit stuck as he was being born, and Sue helped me get him out without any injury to him OR tearing for me. That is pretty impressive. I recommend Sue to my friends and to my clients (I am a doula, so I work with pregnant women and am often in a position to recommend care providers.) She is a fantastic midwife and a wonderful woman. read more

Sue is an amazing midwife. Words cannot describe the level of care I have received from her and I would highly recommend her to anyone choosing to have their baby at home. With Sue I felt like I could ask any question, or tell her about any concern I had and she would listen and answer me in a way that gave me confidence and peace of mind. She not only guided me through my pregnancy and delivery, but has continued to support me as I struggle to produce enough milk to breastfeed. I still receive text messages from her with suggestions on how to boost my supply. I cannot express my gratitude enough for the love and care she has shown me and my family. I first spoke with Sue when I was 5 months pregnant and had the stomach flu. A close friend of mine had given me her number after I had told her my doctor wasn't returning my phone calls. I had gone to the ER, worried that something could go wrong with the pregnancy since I couldn't keep any water down. I was given nausea medication and sent home. I sent a message to Sue, who immediately called me back. The information she gave me on how to stay hydrated was helpful, but even more importantly, she put my mind at ease and I was able to get some rest. Even though I was not one of her clients, she followed up with me the next day, asking how I was feeling and whether or not I was able to keep anything down. Not long after that, my husband and I met with Sue and decided to have our baby at home. I still can't get over how Sue knew I was in labor when I was sure I wasn't. I had sent her a message asking about some cramping I was having. I told her I wasn't in labor and not to come yet. But Sue has so much experience and she doesn't hesitate to make the right call. She told me she was on her way and told me to get everything ready. We were all laughing and talking in-between contractions, and it wasn't until I was pushing that I was convinced the baby was actually coming. Sue is so wonderful and I feel like she is a part of my family now. I am forever grateful for the birth experience I was able to have with her by my side. Thank you Sue! read more

Honestly, I was very hesitant with the whole home birth idea when my wife mentioned it, but Sue Gill changed my mind. She tended to my wife's every needs and took the extra time to figure out a treatment for a condition that my wife had during the pregnancy. My son was finally born a few days ago a surprised breach. Sue has been to our house every day to check on my wife and baby. Whenever she comes, she not only comes to check on my wife and baby and take off--as is typical with hospital births (my first 2 children were born in a hospital)--she actually spends a few times to visit with us and make sure that everyone in the family is adjusting very well. If you want an alternative to a hospital-based pregnancy, then Sue and Blessed Beginnings Midwifery is the best place to go. read more

Sue Gill was amazing. I desired a VBAC at home and she guided me through my preparation to having the best alignment and position of the baby possible. Using Sue's advice and guidance and working with Britney Cicon the chiropractor in her office, I felt that I was doing all we could to have the birth I desired. During the birth Sue was so supportive and calm. She was knowledgable and wise and used her experienced skills to bring our very large baby safely into this world into her capable hands. My husband was skeptical of home birth in the beginning but is now a total believer and would use Sue in a heart beat if we had number 3. read more

I know Sue from my sister's homebirths and immediately knew I wanted her to be my midwife when I became pregnant in 2010. My sister's and I have all had very different birth experiences (a total of 5 babies) that have included a few minor complications. Sue is extremely well educated and experienced. She remains calm and encouraging during birth (even when it goes on for days!). She trusts the birth process and a mother's instincts; knows when to leave you to focus on your labor and when to step in to reassure, and possibly guide, you. I thoroughly enjoyed my prenatal visits at her office as well. We spent an hour together (at least) each appointment. Visits included: all normal pregnancy check-ups; she answered any questions I had; she suggested subjects/decisions to look into regarding birth and newborns; and she provided me with tons of information (verbally, in her handbook and loaned me books) regarding nutrition, pregnancy, and birth. She also respected all of my choices. Most important to me, Sue genuinely cares about mothers-to-be, and their families. Her office is welcoming to the entire family (no need to find someone to watch any siblings, there's even a playroom). Many times I have reached out to her since my son's birth with questions regarding myself, my son, or a pregnant friend. She replies quickly and helps however she can. Her heart is so big and she is very passionate about women and families receiving quality care based in respect. read more

We love Sue! She served as a the backup to my midwife. She walked in as soon as I was starting to pushing. I remembered her saying "Hi I'm Sue!" I said "Hi I'm Tristen, can I push now?" as I shook her hand while in the birthing pool! A little while later I birthed my son and it was so magical! She welcomed my F-Bombs and jokes. Thanks Sue! read more

Sue was my midwife for my 2nd and 3rd births and most certainly will be again, if we decide to have more babies in the future. I really can't say enough great things about her and my birth experiences. For my first birth I had a fairly kind, but typical OB, who was not entirely encouraging of my wish for a natural birth. That birth ended up be an unplanned, unattended homebirth, but all ended up well. I knew I would plan my next birth at home with a midwife. For my 2nd pregnancy I first chose a very popular OC midwife, but never felt much of a connection with her. About halfway through, I decided to look for someone else, just to see if a special relationship with a midwife would be possible. I had a consult with Sue and was there for over an hour. I knew she was the one. My next two births were awesome. Having a good midwife is just an entirely different experience. Imagine someone who genuinely cares, who speaks to you like you are person, a friend even, who you can laugh and cry with, and who knows wtf they are doing! I still talk with Sue regularly. She still asks about the kids. I know if I ever show up at the office, I'll still be part of the family. You really don't know what you are missing until you have an awesome midwife like Sue! read more

Sue has a gift! It is obvious in everything she does that she has a passion for life and babies! She pours her heart into moms and babies to make sure everyone is healthy. I am so thankful for her guidance and expertise in making my prenatal, homebirth, and postnatal experience beautiful, comfortable, and safe. She generously and humbly answered ALL of my questions thoroughly (with research to support her answers) and I never felt rushed. She thoroughly explained all of my options to me so that everything was clear. We all loved going to our prenatal appointments, her office is very family friendly (my 2 year old daughter loved it as well). She is very flexible with scheduling, I never had trouble making appointments to fit around my schedule. My husband and I only want to have homebirths with Sue in the future. Thank you Sue for generously sharing your passion, wisdom, and love with us! read more

Sue is a wonderful midwife! She cares about her clients holistically. I wanted to feel a bond with the professional who would be with me during labor and I totally felt a bond with Sue. She has so much experience which is comforting because you know she knows when things are going smoothly and when a transfer is necessary. I trusted her completely and that helped to establish a peaceful setting for my birth. I needed that peace and Sue's confidence in the process during my 21 hours of labor and 3+ hours of pushing! Sue was always available for any questions or concerns I had during my pregnancy and even after my son was born too. She loves babies and her love and care for my baby and me converted my mom from anti-home birth into a big fan of Sue's. She was an amazing support and gave incredible individualized care. Had I been in a hospital I would have had a c-section and I would have been told that my body was not capable of birthing such a large baby. But with Sue there to oversee and make sure we were all healthy and safe I had my big baby at home naturally. Sue's faith in my body's ability and her wealth of knowledge and experience allowed me to be calm and to labor without the tension and frantic pace found in a hospital. I needed that serene space to focus and listen to my body and Sue gave me that space but still was present to give us the peace of mind of her wisdom and experience. I would recommend her to anyone wanting a peaceful home birth and I hope to have her present with us for any future little ones that may come :) read more

I searched for quite a while to find a midwife in a Orange County, I interviewed 3 different midwives and I knew as soon as I sat down with Susan that she was the one I trusted by my side during the entire process. I immediately felt safe by her warm, caring nature. She answered all of my questions and never felt impatient. She has years of experience and trained most of the midwives practicing in Orange County today (and that really made my husband and myself feel good). As weeks and months went by, I could not wait for my appointments with her to learn about my baby and hear it's heart beat through a stethoscope. She was always available to talk over the phone or text about any concern I had. As my birth approached, I was very confident I would have this baby at home. But, Mother Nature had a different plan for me, my daughter would not come down the birth canal. I ended up with a very long labor and Susan never left my side. Sleep deprived, she was there for me allowing me to follow my will and my wishes. As I realized I had done all I could with her guidance I transferred to a hospital. I walked in to the ER with my husband scared and defeated and again, she never left my side, conveying my wishes to the nurses and doctors. I ended up having a C-section. Baby was healthy and so was I. The first person there the next day was Susan. When I came home, she was there. When I needed some support nursing, she was there. Susan became more than a midwife...she became my beloved friend. She told me I was not broken, I could have my home birth if I wanted the next time around. And that is exactly what I did. Three years later, I had a home birth VBAC. Underwater I welcomed my second beautiful healthy girl to this world, with Susan right by my side. She was everything I could have hoped for in a midwife. Not only was she my midwife, but she also caught my sister's two girls at home as well. I encourage everyone to sit down and talk with her. I promise you, you are in the very best hands! read more

When I decided I wanted to have a home birth, I knew finding the right midwife was going to be crucial. One of my friends told me about Sue and how amazing she was, so I contacted her immediately. I am so, SO glad I chose her. She was just who I needed to give me the confidence that I could do this, as well as helping me make well-informed decisions along the way. Not to mention that she was so good about responding to all my questions, rational and irrational alike. She was also amazing about working with my insurance, as they are a bit more difficult. I cannot say enough good things about her and will definitely be going to her for any future births! read more

Susan Scott Gill of Blessed Beginning Midwifery is just amazing! I began the search for a midwife when I was pregnant with my first baby in 2011. I wanted to find someone who had experience, knowledge, a great personality and someone who I felt truly cared about me... When my husband and I found Sue, she exceeded our expectations of what a midwife even could be and we were thrilled to hire her as our midwife. Through prenatal appointments at her office and her continuous availability and support our relationship grew as did our trust in Sue's abilities and knowledge as a midwife. She values birth in the deepest sense and eased my worries many times! I was a week past my edd with my son by the time labor started and I can't imagine the ups and downs of that week without her there for support. There were minor complications at the end of my labor and I never once felt panicked, worried or afraid. Sue was extremely professional and in control, making important decisions on my behalf and everything went as smoothly as possible. My son was perfectly healthy, alert and strong and we could not be happier with the care we ALL received! I did experience severe breastfeeding difficulties and once again Sue was by my side, offering personal support and guiding me to other professionals for help as well. We overcame MANY postpartum challenges with Sue's help and I am eternally grateful for her compassion and support in such a vulnerable time in my life. Really I can not say enough about Sue and how great she is! She spends time with her clients, cares about their individual needs and really goes above and beyond... I can't wait to have another home birth with Sue! read more

Midwife Sue is WONDERFUL and we used her for our 4th & 5th child births. My first 3 were hospital births and a home water birth FAR exceeds a hospital birth any day. Sue spends an hour at each of my check ups and always made me feel at ease during the height and pain of contractions. She NEVER rushes you with anything. In fact, I sat in the birthing pool for another hour after our daughter was born. You will never get the care from a OB like you get from a midwife, especially Sue. It's like having a Mom comfort and support you through this amazing experience of birth. We LOVE you Sue! read more

You won't find a midwife that cares more about you and your baby than Sue. She is the best.

I highly recommend Susan Gill if you are considering using a midwife and having a home birth (which you definitely should!) The standard of care (pre and post natal) is not even comparable to what you receive with a OBGYN and hospital. I have had both a hospital birth and a home birth with Sue, and having done it both ways, I can only begin to say how much better it is to receive midwifery care with Sue and have a home birth. Appointments are an hour long, so you have all of your questions and concerns answered without feeling rushed, plus you have her cell phone number, so you can text or call any time you are in need, which is extremely reassuring while pregnant. Several times I was rushed out of my OBGYN's office after a five minute long appointment, after being told he was running late and waiting way passed my appointment time for those five minutes of prenatal care. With Sue, you really get to know each other throughout your pregnancy, so you feel completely comfortable. A bond of trust is built, which is very important, because you can actually trust that she has you and your baby's best interests in mind, and that she really cares. Visits to the office are relaxing and enjoyable and held in a family atmosphere. There is even a little play area for your other little ones. Birthing at home was so nice being in my own home, with my own food, and my own bathroom, and my own clothes, with nothing hooked up to me, no one coming in my room at all hours of the night preventing me from getting much needed rest when baby was sleeping, a real bed for my husband to sleep in, being able to labor in whatever way I needed to, eating and drinking what I wanted to, and on and on. I didn't have to worry about anyone forcing any medical procedures, medications, and interventions on me with or without my knowledge (this happened to me with my hospital birth). Sue explained everything ahead of time for me to research and make informed decisions. I am so grateful I found Sue and decided to have a home birth, despite my disbelief I could do it. (Sue was very reassuring when I doubted myself). I even got my insurance to cover the cost by doing a little advanced planning and appealing. I really miss being pregnant and having my monthly office visits with Sue, it was truly and enjoyable experience! read more

This review is long overdue as our baby girl is now almost 8 months old but Sue has been nothing short of amazing. I switched care from an OBGYN and a hospital birth to a home birth with Sue rather late in my pregnancy (3d trimester) and that turned out to be one of the best decisions I have ever taken! Thanks to Bradley classes we took with my husband, we just felt that a home birth was more suited for us. Sue provided excellent support during our visits to her office, she took her time to answer all our questions and her support after our baby was born was amazing. Compared to the 5 minute appointments I had with my previous doctor, it felt like a tremendous upgrade. Sue will give you some practical advice on diet, exercise, will involve dad in the whole process. She helped with breastfeeding and was always super quick to provide help through texts/phone calls. Our absolute trust in Sue reflects her great experience, knowledge and skills. Can't wait for the second baby to see Sue again (will try to recover from sleep deprivation before that though!). read more

It's taken me awhile to review Sue because I really don't know how to adequately express how wonderful she is. Sue has aided us in the birth of all four of our daughters and I wouldn't change a thing about any of those days. 8 1/2 years later and Sue is like one of the family! If you are looking for an extremely experienced professional, look no further. If you're looking for a down to earth birth partner, look no further. Sue is the best of both worlds and I can't recommend her enough. The beginning of my motherhood was truly blessed and Sue was part of that blessing! read more

This review is WAY overdue! When I got pregnant I was bound and determined to have Sue as my midwife. Well was she ever. My pregnancy was very healthy and smooth with her guidance. Toward the end it was determined my baby was breech. We pulled out all the stops to get that baby to move. Sue was with us every step of the way. She even traveled with us to an OB who attempted an ECV. When my stubborn girl would not turn head down for anyone, Sue supported us through the tough transition of care and planning a c-section with an OB. She was even there the day our daughter was born and would have been in the operating room if allowed! The whole roller coaster ride and process at the end would have been so much more difficult without her support and love. I highly recommend Sue as a home birth midwife. We love you Sue! Sue was such a blessing during the pregnancy and birth of our seventh baby! I love that she is one of the most experienced midwives in OC. When choosing a midwife, that was important to myself and my husband. She is confident, professional, knowledgeable, capable, personable, accessible, responsive and respectful. She answered any questions I had thoroughly and gave me excellent information during pregnancy. At the birth, she was respectful of my wanting to be independent yet wasn't afraid to give me amazing suggestions when they were necessary. She and her team of wonderful assistants were a joy to have at the birth! I truly appreciate the relationship we have developed and recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and excellent midwife. read more

Sue was my midwife for my third birth. My first birth was a C-section and my second was a hospital VBAC. I knew the third time around I wanted a different experience. I wanted to feel in complete control of my birth and I wanted my birth to be as natural and gentle as possible. I birthed my son, my third child, on November 24th, 2013 and it was everything and more than I could have ever dreamed of for a perfect birth. I went into labor at 41 weeks. During that last week when I went past my due date, Sue would randomly call me and check in on me to see how I was feeling both physically and emotionally. No OBGYN ever called me to see how I was feeling in my previous births. During labor she was calm and confident. Her confidence gave me confidence. She never doubted my ability to birth safely and naturally at home. Since I had a previous C-section there were midwives who wouldn't work with me, but Sue never doubted me and welcomed my birth with an open heart. She is not only caring and supportive, but very intelligent. I have a rare blood clotting disorder called Factor V Leiden and right away Sue knew what it was since it can affect women during pregnancy. There are many doctors who have to look up this condition in their medical books. Because Sue is so knowledgeable, I knew that I was in the best hands and the best of care. My homebirth was the proudest day of my life. Words can't express how grateful I am to Sue and her team for supporting me in this life changing event. My husband and I are planning on having a fourth child in a couple of years and already know that we will be with Sue again. read more

It is always sad to hear people say that their birthing experience was unpleasant and not what they wanted. Our birth experiences with Sue couldn't have been further from that truth. In fact, all three of our baby's births were amazing, life changing experiences, and it has so much to do with Sue and her team at Blessed Beginnings. All three of our daughters were born at home with Sue right there by our side. She brings so much wisdom, patience and care throughout the entire pregnancy. She makes everyone feel at peace and confident during the birth process. We have been so blessed to have Sue guide us through our 3 births and hope others can have the same amazing home-birth experience that we have shared with her. read more

The moment I met Sue, I knew that our decision was made. I immediately felt at ease with her. She just had a way of making me feel completely safe. She is clearly a student of her trade, and is extremely knowledgable about the female body, pregnancy and birth. Throughout my prenatal care, I learned so much from Sue about what it means to be a healthy, beautiful pregnant woman. She helped me make well informed decisions at every step of the way. I looked forward to every appointment, and always left her office "glowing"!! My labor was more beautiful than I ever could have imagined. Sue was exactly what I needed, when I needed it. She allowed me to trust my body and guided me to believe in myself. I felt completely safe during my whole labor, and I knew that my baby and I were in the best hands. When Sue helped me catch my baby girl, there was no question that we would be connected to each other for life! During the very sacred time after giving birth, Sue stayed with me and treated me with such loving hands. And the care didn't stop. A year and a half later, and I still get the same loving attention from Sue when I call her with questions or concerns about myself or my baby girl. Sue's dedication and commitment to her patients is unmatched. And her love for what she does shines bright in everything that she does. She is truly one of the best people that I have ever met!! She is the best at what she does, and I whole heartedly recommend her to anyone who is considering having a home birth! read more

My wife and I are very happy with our choice of Sue as our midwife. She has a thorough knowledge of her field and a common sense perspective that leaves you confident in her care from the first time you meet her. During our appointments with Sue, prenatal and postpartum, we were given her undivided attention and she answered all of our questions without making us feel rushed in any way. She is lighthearted and fun, but she knows when and how to take charge and handle tense situations if they come up, all the while maintaining a level head and objective approach. My wife and I were part of every decision and discussion along the way and we felt confident and respected through the entire process. The best way I can convey my recommendation of Sue is to say that we would surely, 100%, have her as our midwife again when we have our next child. read more

When I learned that Sue Gill was the midwife that other midwives go to for their births, I knew she was the person to guide us through our VBAC. We wanted to have a water birth at home for our second and third births and Sue provided all the information we needed for a healthy pregnancy and birth. She was instrumental in giving us the tools we needed to feel confident, empowered and educated and therefore at ease with what is intended to be a natural process. From the start she was attentive and caring, answering all our questions, spending at least an hour per visit, and calling us as soon as she received test results. It makes such difference to have a provider who genuinely cares about the families she works with. She made it possible for our children to have a relaxed, peaceful entry into the world in the comfort and privacy of our home and for that, we are ever grateful!!! read more

I wish I could rate Sue with 100 stars. Not only did she completely go above and beyond as my midwife (working with our financial strains, always encouraging and making sure I was following my gut when it came to my birth desires, educating me on my options, always ALWAYS there when I needed anything...I could go on) but she's skilled, smart, easy to be with, funny and is passionate about what she does, not to mention she's one of the most experienced midwife in the OC. I owe my healthy twins and amazing recovery to her and her crew! Truly, she's the only reason I would have another baby, so I could see her more often. Ps I've never wanted to get a well woman check before meeting Sue. I will happily be seeing her for all my well woman check ups for as long as she's in business. If you're pregnant and desire excellent midwifery care, do you and your growing family a favor and interview this fantastic woman. read more

Sue was my midwife for my second birth. After have a preemie my first time around and spending 2 weeks in the NICU I knew I wanted the complete opposite for my second birth. I met Sue before I was pregnant and knew right away that she was the one. She is truly an awesome midwife and extremely empowering. I enjoyed every visit with her and knew I was in the best care possible. I loved having a relationship with the person that was going to attend my birth opposed to my last OB who would see me for maybe 5 min each month and type on her computer the entire time. I had the birth I always wanted...it was beautiful, peaceful and unforgettable. Sue caught my baby girl and I'm so glad she was there with me every step of the journey. She has been there through my postpartum issues and I am eternally grateful to have met her. She really is the best and I recommend her to all my friends!!! read more

Sue attended all three of my home births, after I had four hospital births. I really can't say enough about how amazing and wonderful midwifery care is, and Sue in particular is just awesome. Knowledgeable, supportive, down to earth, warm, funny - I really love her and am so grateful for the beautiful memories I have of the care I received from her during my last three pregnancies, births, and postpartum. I felt like I had a dear friend caring for me, and my whole family fell in love with her. Seriously, as good as it gets. read more

It is difficult to put into words all the reasons that we would recommend Susan Gill!!! Her care from the first time you meet her to long after your birth is unlike anything I have ever seen or heard before. Her passion for her clients and all the families she works with is unrivaled.
