Amazing experience. I wish I remember the barbers name but it was the guy in the middle on the left…read morefrom New York, he was amazing. The whole place when you walk in they're very welcoming - as a guy you understand the stress of going into an unfamiliar barber shop not knowing what kind of cut you're going to get, but he made it easy and got the exact cut I wanted, the whole time chopping it up with you genuinely seemed interested and made the time fly by. You can tell he's been cutting hair his whole life, he understood the difference in hair styles and growth of different peoples hair, which I feel a lot of people do not understand that not everyone is the same. If I lived here I'd be going back for sure, but I would recommend this place to anyone, good vibes, welcoming crew, nice, experienced, and everything you want in a barber chair.

The are fluent in English and Spanish and are very kind loving people as well. The location is always clean and they constantly straighten things up in between haircuts. Guys and their hair! We act like we don't care but actually we really do. Up until recently we have…read morehad little variety in our color and styling. Now I see many men of color sporting blonde hair. Lots of guys of all ages and colors now like it long, short, buzzed...anything and everything goes! My grandfather was bald, my father was bald and my brothers are balding. I don't know how I have done it, but at 68 I still have a decent head of hair. I owe some of it to Rogaine and I owe some of it to good genes from my mother's side of the family! Over the years I have had a crew cut when I was a kid, shoulder length thick hair as a hippie in college, slicked back like the Italian mafia as a young man on the move and now just thrilled to have some of it still sitting on my head! In my lifetime I have blown dried it, greased it, styled it, let it hang natural and put everything on it from pomade to gel to A Touch of Gray! I would have to say my hair is one of my better features and so when I moved to downtown Greensboro over 20 years ago I went on the hunt to find a good barber who would take care of me That's how I found Christian Casillas. I'm a devoted kind of customer. If I find somebody whether he or she be a doctor or a handyman or barber who knows what they're doing, you've got me for life! I have followed Christian in a barber shop on Summit Avenue to one on Battleground Avenue and eventually followed him to The Hair Shop on Lawndale where he has been for many years. It's kind of fun going to The Hair Shop because it looks like it has not been changed since the 1970s. It has an old-fashioned neighborhood ambiance and I get the feeling that most of the men that walk in there like me have been going to their special barber in that place for years. Conveniently located in the Lawndale Shopping Center, it is always easy to park and Christian is happy to see you soon if he has an opening or make an appointment for you ASAP. His fee is very reasonable. I also appreciate that he does some special things for me like keeping my eyebrows trim and reassuring me that I'm not going bald! LOL . I missed him during the pandemic for I was too petrified to walk into The Hair Shop without being vaccinated. When I started looking like a hippie back in the fall I decided to take a chance and go see him. I was pleasantly surprised how COVID conscious everybody was. There are hand sanitizers available and masks being worn and a sensitivity to keeping us all safe even though it's as awkward as hell to get a haircut with a mask strapped across your face. Christian makes it work with the minimal effort and I still walk out feeling great. Where some establishments could use a good facelift I must admit there is something very charming about walking in there and feeling like you have stepped back in time with the old fashioned barber chairs and all the guys hanging out talking about everything from politics to their personal lives. I enjoy just sitting there like a fly on the wall and listening to what they are all saying. When all is said and done, I must say that my favorite part of the haircut is the very end. As soon as Christian puts the warm shaving cream on the back of my neck I am immediately transported to Fish Avenue in the Bronx. I am 8 years old. My sweet Grandfather is holding my hand as we walk together to the barbershop. I can feel his love and affection for me as he lifts me up and puts me on my booster seat. He's chit-chatting with the barber in Yiddish and English as I get my haircut. I'm not afraid because my Grandfather is with me. All I'm thinking about in that barber chair is if I want a lollipop or a charm which will my prize for being a good boy while getting cut. Christian does not give me a lollipop or a charm but he insists I am a good boy and I am not going bald. You know what? At 68 he can keep the charm and lollipop and I'll keep my hair! If you are looking for a clean, convenient, friendly, retro-ish moderately priced barber shop, I highly recommend The Hair Shop on Lawndale. And if you are looking for a top notch barber who is charming, attentive and professional Christian is the guy!
